Pop diva Rihanna and her (we hope) ex-boyfriend Chris Brown have been the center of a media storm these past two days. Brown has turned himself in to LAPD after allegedly beating, biting and punching Rihanna so badly a passerby heard her screams and called 911. Brown and Rihanna were due at the Grammy Awards Sunday evening, but cancelled as news of Brown’s impending arrest broke world wide.

Brown is being charged with making criminal threats, which carries a possible 9 year jail sentance. The District Attorney may also opt to add domestic abuse charges which can lead to another 4 years if convicted. 

What went so wrong with this couple? They were very low key about their relationship. Brown and Rihanna are still teenagers! If this is true, Brown has ruined his reputation and career. Has it happened to Rihanna before? Was this the first time abuse was reported?  The description of her injuries are severe and would suggest escalation, instead of something spontaneous.

Nothing could possibly justify what happened to Rihanna and while it must be incredibly painful for it to happen so publicly, hopefully one day she can talk about and help others who suffer from abusive relationships. Miley Cyrus will be heading to the White House to screen her new Hannah Montana movie with Malia and Sasha Obama, but before that, she had to clear up some things regarding her now infamous photo that some found offensive. The picture taken by another ‘friend’ (and released on the net – nice…) had Miley and her boyfriend Justin Gaston and others making what appeared to be ‘asian eyes.’

In her original statement, many felt she wasn’t really apologizing, just blowing off the blame with the excuse that she was making a goofy face with her pals, so no harm done. Cyrus faced another round of sharp criticism in the media and by some prominent Asian groups who felt she did not pay attention to their concerns. She has gone back to her blog to send out a more contrite apology.

“I really wanted to stress how sorry I am if the photo of me with my friends offended anyone. I have learned a valuable lesson from this and know that sometimes my actions can be unintentionally hurtful. I know everything is a part of GOD’s ultimate plan, and mistakes happen so that eventually I will become the woman he aspires me to be.”

This time around it sounds genuine. I think she felt attacked before, and perhaps rightfully so. I hope she has a chance to do things with her friends that don’t become national news because some one close to her releases/sells everything she does to the world.

The Obama girls will absolutely enjoy their experience with Miley for the Disney Hannah Montana movie.

Her new movie, Coraline opened this past weekend and Push is still in theaters so Dakota Fanning made a stop at The Late Show with David Letterman to talk movies, school and driving while looking fabulous in her black (navy?) jumpsuit.

Emma Watson looked flawless as usual at the British Academy of Film and Television Awards – more commonly known as the BAFTAs. She was a presenter tonight and wore a dress by Alice Temperley.

“The Baftas are very important. For us here, we don’t often have the support we need to get small British films off the ground so anything that promotes us, I think it’s wonderful,” she added.

Watson also added that she is reading scripts and still deciding where to attend university in the fall; nothing has been decided, contrary to previous reports. Pictured below she was at the pre BAFTA show/party, from the previous evening.

 

 

The UK film set for the latest Harry Potter series is open again after a serious injury to actor Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double, David Holmes. Holmes was participating in a flying scene with an explosion when something went wrong and he fell, badly hurting his back, requiring spinal surgery.

The film set at the British studio was closed following the shocking accident, with the U.K.’s Health and Safety Executive launching an investigation into the incident. However the crew are now back at work, according to British newspaper the Daily Mirror.

No word as to what exactly went wrong but production seems to be cleared to forge ahead on the seventh and final HP movie. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, which will be filmed at one time, and split into 2 movies. The principal actors (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson) were not on set, and do not begin filming until later this month. After his operation, Holmes, 25, is said to have vowed to not let this accident set back his career.

Leaving her rumored new boyfriend, Chace Crawford at home, Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen went to the after party for the movie ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’ and brought her mom, Colette, along.

“They were laughing and talking together all night, like girlfriends,” a fellow partier tells In Touch. But the elder Momsen is more than just a party pal to her 15-year-old daughter: unlike other celeb moms, she showed she knows where to draw the line. “Taylor only sipped on water and left promptly when Colette said it was time for them to go at midnight,” the eyewitness adds.

It’s nice to see Taylor living down her party girl reputation.
