Dancing With The Stars: Fantasy Teen Edition Part 1
Ok, let’s have a bit of a television moment here. ABC’s Dancing With The Stars is coming back in September with it’s largest cast ever and I thought we’d have a little fun here on GossipTeen: Which favorite teen stars would I chose if I could cast this show? Who would be the most interesting to watch weekly? Before I reveal the “sweet 16″ I selected, I eliminated Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Taylor Swift and Dakota Fanning. They were all easy choices and while everyone would want them, there is no way they would do it. Even though it’s fantasy, I wanted it to have some basis in how the contestants are really chosen for the show. It would be like asking George Clooney or Angelina Jolie to do the regular version: it would make for great television but it’s never gonna happen.
So let’s lay a bit of groundwork; some rules, so to speak:
First: Everyone is under 25, that should be obvious.
Second: I selected an equal mix of guys and gals.
Third: Like the original show, I added in athletes and musicians as well as actors.
Fourth: I did limit the amount of ‘Twilight’ kids.
Fifth: It’s subjective of course but I tried to get an interesting array of young celebs who would be fun to watch.
So there you have it – Part One is up after the jump. Come back later this week for Parts Two, Three and Four.
Number 16: Ryan Sheckler, skateboarder/athlete
Sheckler grew up in southern California and turned skateboard pro at the ripe old age of 14. The star of MTV’s reality show The Life of Ryan also launched a clothing line sold at JCPenney stores nationwide. He also started The Sheckler Foundation to help fund kids athletic programs and to help injured athletes.
Number 15: Aimee Teegarden, actress.
Teegarden is best known as the coach’s daughter Julie on Friday Night Lights and has made guest appearances on the new 90210 and CSI: Miami. She was also a judge for Miss Teen USA 2007 and launched the question that threw Miss South Carolina for a loop and has become infamous in paegentry contest meltdown moments. Funny stuff!
Number 14: David Henrie, actor.
The Wizards of Waverly Place actor seems to have a great sense of humor and comes across as a fun guy in interviews. The 20 year old has done quite a bit of television and has said he loves a live audience so this should be fun for everyone.
Number 13: Solange Knowles, singer/actress/model.
Solange has been steadily carving out a career for herself under the shadow of her big sister, Beyonce. While the two share the same professions, Solange is flying under the intense fame spotlight her sister lives with and that seems to be fine with her. I think she would make a great dancer and would love to see her restyle the costumes she’d be given each week.
Stay tuned for my picks for 9 – 12.
