‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Movie Mistakes
Written by Gossip Gal on December 29, 2009 – 3:33 pm -Movie Mistakes has compiled an incredible long list of mistakes from the second movie of the Twilight Saga, “New Moon”. The list with 29 mistakes is mostly compiled by obsessed movie fans with a critic eye, which means even if you watched the movie a million times you might have completely missed it.
GossipTeen suggests a fun exercise: print this list, read it carefully and then watch “New Moon” AGAIN. Try to spot the mistakes and have fun! It doesn’t matter is it’s one of the most expensive or cheapest movie in Hollywood, every movie has its mistakes, which actually make it even more fun to watch.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon Movie Mistakes List Below
- Bella’s bite mark scar is not in the position it should be, compared to where James actually bit her in Twilight.
- When Bella and Jacob are driving in Bella’s truck to go test out the motorbikes for the first time, they alternate between driving backwards and forwards. When you see the forest passing through Bella’s window, they appear to be driving forwards. However, when you see the reflection of the trees in the windshield when the camera is on Bella and Jacob, they appear to be driving backwards. When they close-up on Jacob and Bella separately through the windshield, it is extremely obvious that they are driving backwards.
- When Bella is in the parking lot at school in the beginning, Edward walks toward her. Bella’s hair is neatly pulled off to the side. When he leans in for the kiss it is suddenly stuck to her forehead, and when Edward tells her Jacob wants her, it’s suddenly back to normal.
- Just as Jacob enters Bella’s room through the window, a stunt prop - white band on his right wrist - is briefly visible.
- After Bella awakes from the first nightmare, we see her Romeo and Juliet book on the pillow beside her. When Charlie brings in her presents the book is gone, but then reappears on the pillow between shots.
- When Jacob first shows off his tattoo, it is up at the top of his shoulder. Then when he is in the forest at the end with Bella and Edward, his tattoo is about 2 inches further down his arm.
- At Bella’s birthday party, when Edward pushes Jasper away after attacking Bella, Emmett turns his head to follow Jasper flying through the air. But in the next shot, he is looking in front of him as though he didn’t see anything.
- In the scene where Bella is in the meadow talking to Laurent, Bella’s hair is at first straight and then in the next scene it is wispy and pushed back and then it is straight again.
- When Edward takes Bella to the forest to tell her he is leaving, Bella’s hair hangs down her back. But in a following shot most of it is tucked up in the hood of her coat.
- When Sam comes into the house and kisses his fiance, you can see the ripples in the edges of the plastic film used to put the tattoo on his arm.
- When Bella pulls up at the Black’s, she spots Jacob, gets out of her truck and her door doesn’t fully close . Later you can see in the background that the door is firmly shut.
- Bella goes to Italy to save Edward. Alice drops Bella off - when Bella gets out of the car to ask where Edward will be, first you see Bella in front of the car door, then she is suddenly behind the car door.
- When Bella and Edward enter the chamber with the Volturi, they change which sides they are holding hands on. This also happens when they leave, except it goes from arm on waist to hand holding.
- When Alice is driving Bella to the Volturi, she is wearing a headscarf and sunglasses. During the scene the way the headscarf is tied changes; the size and shape of the knot (and the colours on the knot) are different.
- When Charlie is talking to Bella at her truck about her going back to Jacksonville, the large wisps of hair on Bella’s left ear keep changing position and alternate from not / blowing in the wind.
- In the last scene when Jacob confronts Edward and Bella. Edward’s hair is it’s usual poofed up, uncombed look but after Bella separates Jacob and Edward and Jacob runs off, when the camera is back on Edward, his hair is flat and neatly combed, then within a few seconds it’s back to its uncombed look.
- When Alice jumps over the staircase in school to wish Bella happy birthday, between shots during the scene the positioning of the decorated scarf around her neck varies.
- When Bella is at the cafeteria table with Mike, and he is asking her to a movie, her hair keeps moving from behind her ear to hanging in front, and back again.
- In the scene where Bella jumps off the cliff, Bella’s eyes are brown before jumping but are blue/green when she surfaces in the water and then back to brown in the underwater and shore scenes.
- In the scene where Jacob is talking to Bella on the beach about Victoria, his shirt starts off as a dark gray colour, then it changes to a brown colour. It does this a few times during the scene.
- Right before Jacob comes through Bella’s window, it shows her sleeping and “dreaming” of Victoria coming to get her. If you look, the camera really focuses on the dreamcatcher and how it’s hanging above her on the bedpost. It is hanging off to the side of the middle hump. Immediately, Jacob comes through her window and focuses in on the dreamcatcher hanging on the bedpost which is now neatly hanging in a completely different way, perfectly laid over the center of the bedpost.
- When Edward and Bella turn around to leave the Volturi Chamber, Edward’s robe is tied. When they show them leaving from the back it is undone.
- The rims of the vampires contacts can be spotted occasionally during the film, especially the Volturi’s during the ending scenes, e.g. Jane’s in the elevator.
- When Mike and Jacob are standing outside the cinema waiting for Bella, between shots the Burger King takeaway bag sitting on the trashcan next to them changes position.
- When Bella goes to the Cullens’ house for her birthday party, Alice takes the new camera that Charlie got Bella and takes a picture of Bella and Edward. But when Bella prints out the picture and puts it in her scrapbook, it looks nothing like the picture Alice took. Given we see the entirety of her visit from start to finish, there was no other opportunity for a different photo to be taken.
- Factual Error: In the opening sequence of the moon changing phase to reveal the “New Moon” title, the moon is actually upside down. Easiest way to tell is because the Tycho crater appears on the top-right as opposed to bottom-left as it is visible from earth.
- Factual Error: When Bella is flying to Italy they show a Virgin America airplane. Virgin America only flies within certain cities in the US. Virgin Atlantic flies from the US to Europe.
- Factual Error: In the main title when the giant new moon appears on the screen the shadow fades over the moon from right to left when it should actually fade from left to right. The moon travels around the earth clockwise. The waning moon should turn to a new moon, not the waxing which is shown.
- Visible crew/equipment: In the very last scene, right before the ultimatum, if you look into the tail lights on Edward’s car you can see various members of the crew reflected.

Someone didn’t do their job properly. as an artist I see the flaws in all of my creations more than the artwork itself. I am not happy exhibiting or handing over my commissioned work unless it is perfect. surely after filtering through the hands of so many artists some of them knew about these flaws. For the huge budget allocated to this movie these flaws should not have occured. Now when I watch this movie, all I will see are these flaws. It has totally ruined it for me

Halley nobody told you to spot the mistakes while watching the movie infact thats your fault. And im not trying to be rude but its the truth. You must apperciate that the cast and crew worked really hard to make this movie happen for all the fans and more. Thank you

I am sorry I didn’t go to the movie several times to critic it! I went to enjoy it! There are to many people out there with to much time on their hands! I enjoyed the movie just the way it is!

okay i understand dat most of the mistakes shouldnt occur but with the wind they cant do anything if the wind is blowing her hair in her face. they hav 2 put her hair behind her ears. u girls should know dat. and im sure there were a lot more mistakes dat were fixed. but the movie turned out good and no body watches the movie to find the mistakes they watch it because they like the story, nobody cares where bella’s hair is at

hay all loved the film just wanted to say ye missed one when bella jumps off the cliff her hair dosent move it stays on her back which is very noticeable unlike the rest you they must be sad to take that much notice and to Bradley Griffiths in the book her eyes are red because she just changed but after time of drinking animal blood they turn golden
December 30th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
There are always going to be things different then in movies. Alice would have seen Bella with golden eyes because she is seeing the future and the book states that her eyes would change to golden after drinking animal blood for a few months. And the whole fight in italy thing is WAY off, Edward would have been able to hear in their thoughts what fight moves were coming. there’s no way he would have gotten his butt kicked. Thats a pretty big fact, so you can’t ignore it but I’m not gonna watch the whole movie and pick it apart, it’s a good movie. No reason to taint it with stupid problems that EVERY movie will have.

#28 is wrong…. The moon rotates counterclockwise. The phases do go from right to left.
December 30th, 2009 at 9:15 pm
This is to Jessica about the fight scene. If you really watch the fight scene you see that most of the moves Edward is able to counter move. There are only a few that he misses, and he only hears what people are thinking, they might have been trying to show that his power isn’t always perfect. That is what I took out of it. And I do remember reading that because Edward drinks animal blood he isn’t as strong as a Vampire who drinks human blood. But that is just my two cents and the way I saw the movie. Then again I didn’t go into the movie all the times I have seen it looking for mistakes! LOL!

WOW there are so many more important mistakes in the movie than this crap (too many for me to list now) but no one expected the movie to be perfect, duh its a movie…because all the fans know that it is not even real we just want to see our beloved Twilight acted out like the book depicts it who cares if the camera crew reflection is caught we know they are just make sure that if the book says “this” that the movie shows “this” and not “that”

Oh my god! Bella’s hair changed position, like, oh my god! How will the movie go on?!
BIG FUCKING DEAL.

I have more!!!
* Continuity: While Bella and Edward are embracing each other right after they met up in Volterra and are interrupted, Edward’s body is not completely “whited-out”, only his face is. This is going on the entire time he is speaking to someone in the Volturi. His face is extremely pale, but his neck and abdomen are the color of a human being.
* Continuity: After fighting with the Volturi, Edward’s robe changes between being tied closed and completely open.
* Revealing mistakes: In the scene in Bella’s bedroom after Edward’s return, the camera shakes as if someone has bumped into it.
* Continuity: In the scene when Bella first joins her friends at the table in the school cafeteria after her long depression, as she is talking to Mike, if you look at her hair by her left ear, you can see a bobby pin that may have fallen out of her hair piece or is just not hidden well. When the scenes changes to Mike and then back to Bella the bobby pin is gone.
* Continuity: During the scene where Charlie is telling Bella she is going back to Jacksonville because of her depression, the part in Bella’s hair changes slightly between shots.
* Continuity: Bella’s hair color changes frequently. In some shots it is clearly black, whilst in others it is Bella’s normal brown.
* Revealing mistakes: When Bella is talking to Jake in the rain, only the front of her jacket is wet.
* Revealing mistakes: When Jacob tries to wipe the blood from Bella’s head with his shirt, the blood doesn’t smear or run at all, as if it was painted on or drawn on with a marker.
* Continuity: Bella and Alice’s relative height changes frequently throughout the movie. (Bella is supposed to be taller than Alice, but Ashley Greene is taller than Kristen Stewart.)
* Revealing mistakes: In Port Angeles, Bella is riding on the back of a motorcycle. When there is an overhead view of the bike speeding down the street, it is obvious there is only a driver and no back passenger.
* Continuity: In the scene after Bella finds out from Laurent that Victoria is after her, she is sleeping in her bed. The dream catcher is hanging to the side of the round circle on the headboard. After Jacob climbs into Bella’s room - he focuses on the dream catcher. The straps are now encircling the headboard.
* Crew or equipment visible: During the scene after Edward leaves when Bella is sitting in the chair in front of the window. As the camera spins around Bella the first time, you can see someone in the mirror.
* Crew or equipment visible: During Edward and Felix’s fight, the harness Edward is wearing under the robe is visible in some shots.
* Continuity: When James bit Bella in the first movie, his upper set of teeth marks are in the center of her wrist, with the lower set being on the side of her wrist. When you see Bella’s scars in her room with Jacob, the entire set of teeth marks have been shifted markedly to the right.
* Continuity: In the meadow with Laurent, the way Bella’s hair is hanging changes multiple times throughout the scene, going from untucked to tucked-behind-her-ear and back again, even though Bella does not touch her hair and there is no wind.
* Continuity: When Bella is asking Alice where to find Edward in Volterra, she starts the conversation in close-up standing inside the Porsche’s passenger door, but when the shot pans out, Bella is standing on the outside of the car’s door.
* Continuity: At Bella’s birthday party, all of the Cullens except for Esme are pale. Esme has the skin tone of a human being.
* Continuity: When Bella finds Jacob in the rain, she slams her car door and it doesn’t shut fully. The next scene you see the car shut completely.
* Revealing mistakes: When Bella is in bed sleeping, and she’s screaming because she’s having a bad dream. You can clearly see in one shot the actress in the bed is not Kristen Stewart.
* Continuity: In the scene where Bella goes to the meadow, her hair is wavy and more tousled, but when Laurent arrives, her hair is noticeably straighter.
* Continuity: When Alice takes the photo of Edward and Bella at the party, she clearly takes it with the camera horizontally. However, when Bella prints off the photo, it is vertical.
* Factual errors: When Bella is trying to reach Jacob after his abrupt departure from the movie theater, she is in her living room doing her homework while her father is watching an Arizona Wildcats college football game on TV. Football season would have been over by this time, which should have been March or April (according to the fact that Bella’s last visible email to Alice was on February 1st and she had spent at least a month or so working on the bikes with Jacob).
* Revealing mistakes: During the fight scene in Volterra between Felix and Edward, you can see bits of blue screen around their arms and hands.
* Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Edward parks at school toward the beginning of the film, he parks sideways through multiple parking spaces. (This is especially apparent later in the film when Bella imagines him walking out of his car and it disappears, revealing rows of white lines indicating a different designated parking pattern.)
* Continuity: After Bella falls off the motorbike, she gets a nasty cut on her head. In the following scenes, the cut has completely vanished.
* Revealing mistakes: When Bella goes to LaPush in the rain to confront Jacob, she parks her truck and gets out. However, when she tries to slam the driver’s door, it bounces back open.
* Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Bella is said to be immune to vampires’ special abilities as highlighted when facing the Volturi, however, Jasper is able to control her mood in regards to her birthday party. However, her immunity is to powers that effect the mind, whereas Jasper’s powers effect emotions.
* Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): In the scene where Edward wishes Bella a happy birthday in the parking lot she states that he is a hundred and nine, which is incorrect. He was born in 1901 which would make him a hundred and eight.
* Continuity: In the scene wear Jacob climbs through the window to visit Bella in her room she is wearing a tan/white long-sleeve shirt. In the morning when she wakes up her shirt is green.
* Factual errors: Bella and Alice fly from Seattle to Italy on a Virgin America Airbus A320. Virgin America only flies domestic flights within USA.
* Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Laurent doesn’t glow like the vampires do, though he is outside. However, it’s not so much sunny as overcast. We see Edward and the other Cullens outside many times during the day when it’s light but overcast, and they never sparkle.
* Continuity: In the very beginning when Bella wakes up with the Romeo and Juliet book next to her, the book disappears and reappears between shots while she’s talking to Charlie.
* Continuity: Through out the entire movie the scar on Bella’s arm from James appears and disappears.
* Continuity: At the end of the film, when Edward and Bella are in his car after the vote at the Cullens, the aerial view shows they are driving along a long straight road, but when the camera cuts to their faces, the view out of the rear window of the car shows they have travelled along a winding road.
* Continuity: During the Edward and Bella break-up scene in the forest, Bella’s hair switches from all hanging down her back to some of it being brought forward over her shoulders. In the first shot from behind, it is clearly all fanned out across the back of her jacket, but despite her not appearing to move, in the next shot from behind, the right half of her hair is hanging forward over her shoulder.
* Continuity: At the birthday party at the Cullens, Rosalie gives Bella a wrapped present telling her it’s a necklace, but Bella doesn’t open the present, or appear to put it down anywhere before Alice passes her the present from Emmett, which Bella is holding with both hands when she shakes it
* Continuity: When Mike and Jacob go to the cinema with Bella, Mike is wearing a jacket, but when he leaves his seat in a hurry to go to the men’s room, he doesn’t appear to have his jacket with him, although he is wearing it again when he rejoins Jacob and Bella in the foyer.
* Continuity: When Bella is in the kitchen telling Charlie and Harry Clearwater about seeing the huge wolves in the woods, there is clearly no phone on the wall between the cupboards and the doorway - however towards the end of the film, Jacob answers Edward’s call using a phone on the wall, that wasn’t there in the earlier scene.
* Continuity: As Edward, Bella and Alice are being escorted to Aro by Jane, Felix and Demetri, Bella is walking on Edward’s left - however, as they enter the Volturi chamber, she suddenly appears to be on his right.
* Incorrectly regarded as goofs: While Bella is having flashbacks of her and Edward lying in the meadow, her left foot appears to be missing but it is only tucked under her right foot.
