Vanessa Hudgens took on the role of Mimi, the drug addicted dancer with HIV in the musical RENT, directed by Neil Patrick Harris. The 21 year old performed on the stage of the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on Friday night, August 6th and is continuing through Sunday August 8th. Jackson Rathbone looked great in a black bowler hat as he attended Melanie Segel’s Teen Choice Retreat, sponsored by TJ Maxx held at The Magic Castle in Los Angeles. For the event, celebrities signed and decorated reusable tote bags that were auctioned off on eBay to support the Save The Children foundation. TJ Maxx will also sell reusable tote bags decorated with children’s art work and the proceeds will go to Save The Children.

Other celebs who came out for the cause were Kevin Hale of Glee, Hayley Hasslehoff from Huge, Make It or Break It star Chelsea Hobbs and Twilight alums Edi Gathegi and Bronson Pelletier. Lots of pics below.

Singer Katy Perry, who is engaged to Russell Brand and ready to release her new album “Teenage Dream”, got one of her wishes granted – she is once again on the cover of the upcoming issue of Seventeen Magazine (September 2010).

The 25 year-old took us behind the scenes of her Seventeen photo shoot and talked about her own unique style and how it has evolved. Kate also offered some behind the scenes footage from the set of her forthcoming music video for “Teenage Dream” (check out the videos below).

Here are some highlights from Katy Perry’s Seventeen interview:

On purity rings and role models: “I think that [Miley and the Jonas Brothers] set out to be role models, and I think, I at least hope they know what they’re doing. Because once you say you’re a role model, you’re under a microscope and everyone is waiting and watching for you to do something, you know? And then there’s this big pointing-of-the-finger thing. I mean, they have purpose being role models and having the promise ring thing. But it’s not for everyone.”

On writing new songs: “I haven’t been writing a lot lately. So much has happened in this past year and a half that I can’t wait to just have a month to unplug and recharge and feel everything again. But I think when I do write now it’s about a past relationship or this new life that I’m living. Those are the two things I’m writing about most.”

On her dream wedding: “I would love to have the best party that anyone has ever been to. Some girls want to have a small little beach wedding. And I’m like ‘No! I want the Celine Dion wedding!’ Weddings can be so boring, and those people who say their vows for 45 minutes can be obnoxious. It’s like, we know you’re in love, show it. I would have a secret choreographed dance for our first dance, where it turns into Saturday Night Fever and stupid stuff like that where we have the same sense of humor about it.”

In the first preview of Joe Jonas‘ special guest appearance in “Hot In Cleveland”, he is seen looking rather hot and showing off his guns while talking to our favorite funny old lady, Betty White (watch video below).

Joe is offering Betty new musical suggestions and mentions the Canadian teen superstar’s name, Justin Bieber. Betty quickly responds, “Oh, I love HER!” OUCH. LOL. We are sure Justin laughed and loved this!

OMG! A very lucky group of people had the pleasure of seeing actor Robert Pattinson while he offered them a special impromptu performance in their own living room back in January 2010 (watch video above). The moment was caught on tape for a TV show called “Songs From a Room”.

WOW! Robert is actually quite good. We wouldn’t mind to have him singing just for us in our living rooms, right girls? I just don’t understand how they can look so calm while RPattz is enchanting them with his voice and his presence. I’d probably be hyperventilating and very close to a heart attack!

Former American Idol runner-up David Archuleta is going to release new material soon. FINALLY. The 19 year-old has a new album coming up (“The Other Side Of Down”) in October and the first single is the upbeat “Something ‘Bout Love” (watch music video below).

“The video and the song are about people who are feeling a little down and a little alone … and just feeling a little frustrated with love or their situation in life,” he said of the video. “Even though you might feel down with love, there’s something about it you shouldn’t give up on.”

The always beautiful Emma Watson is showing off her new look – a super short pixie cut – and Emma looks transformed. The Harry Potter actress posted this picture on her Facebook page and said:

“Dear all. Cut my hair off a few days ago… Feels incredible. I love it. I’ve wanted to do this for years and years; it’s the most liberating thing ever. Hope you like. Big love from Emma x.”

Emma’s new look is chic, fashionable and very striking. Many actresses have taken the scissors to their once famous head of hair and adopted this pixie cut – from Mia Farrow in the 60s to Winona Ryder, Halle Berry and Natalie Portman more recently. There is nothing like a brand new haircut to start a new chapter in a person’s life!

Justin Bieber will be the latest under-25 celeb to be honored by Variety’s Power of Youth on October 24th. The annual event highlights young stars who use their position of influence for social change and are involved in charitable organizations. Keke Palmer, Jesse McCartney and Miranda Cosgrove have been celebrated in the past.

Bieber works with Pencils of Promise, an organization dedicated to building educational means to communities worldwide.
