Taylor Swift Explains New Song “Speak Now”

Singer/songwriter Taylor Swift just released the second single “Speak Now” out of her third studio album with the same title on iTunes. The 20 year-old explains the story of this song and confesses it’s not based on one of her personal experiences, but something a good friend of hers went through.

“The song was actually inspired by one of my friends. She was telling me a story about her childhood sweetheart-crush guy. They were together in high school and then went their separate ways,” Taylor said in an interview (watch video below). “She comes in and tells me that he’s getting married. He had met this other girl who was a horrible person. She made him stop talking to his friends, cut off his family ties, and made him so isolated. And randomly, I was like, ‘Oh, are you going to speak now?’ “

So Taylor will be playing a wedding crasher as the cover of the single suggests (picture above). She is going to take action – “Speak now or forever hold your peace.” This is the first single to come out on the countdown for the release of the album on October 25. Two more singles, “Back to December” and “Mean“, will be released on iTunes before the official worldwide launch of the album “Speak Now.
