‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’ Producer Wyck Godfrey Gives Part 1 & 2 Details

Of all the Twilight books to be turned into a film, Breaking Dawn is the most challenging. It has much more adult themes, is considerably longer than any of the other books and has multiple points of view. It’s left everyone wondering how these things were going to be handled by new director Bill Condon.

Producer Wyck Godfrey is giving up some info on Parts 1 and 2:

Where do the movies split?  Godfrey says just as Bella (Kristen Stewart) turns:

“We basically want to take the audience through the emotional part of Bella’s journey as she becomes a vampire. The first part will cover the wedding, the honeymoon and the birth.” The film ends just before she embarks on her supernatural transformation.

Godfrey goes on to say that Breaking Dawn will NOT be rated R by keeping the sex steamy but not explicit and the birthing scene not gory but emotionally challenging for Bella.

“We need to progress and be more sophisticated.” A compromise: Having the bloody, bone-crushing delivery be seen only through Bella’s eyes. “She is looking through the haze, experiencing pain and everything rushing around her. We only see what she sees.”

Godfrey says that the films will address Jacob (Taylor Lautner) as he struggles with losing Bella to Edward (Robert Pattinson) and his break from the wolf clan but does not say if it’s just in the first film or carries over to the second.

Part 2 he says, takes on the vampire war and is much more action packed.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 hits theaters November 11, 2011 and Part 2 bows November 16, 2012.
