Actress/singer Miley Cyrus accepted the award for Global Action Youth Leadership from the hands of Hilary Duff at the 1st Annual Global Action Awards Gala held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California on Friday (February 18)- more pictures/video below.

The 18 year-old has been under media scrutiny for the most part of her life, so Miley was bound to make a lot of mistakes. However, Miley also did many good things for other – she has her own Get Ur Good On, an organization linked to the Youth Service America program, and works with Blessing In a Backpack (also supported by Hilary!).

Miley delivered a good acceptance speech about the importance of giving back. Here’s what she had to say:

“I want [kids] to do something they love,” Miley said. “Not something that seems like a chore because someone tells them that’s the right thing to do or what their parents want or what’s important to people around them but what’s on their heart.”
