Rapper Heavy D Dead at 44
Rap artist Heavy D, known to friends and family as Dwight Arrington Myers, died yesterday at the age of 44. According to sources, the rapper was walking up a flight of stairs after returning to his home in Beverly Hills, when he collapsed saying “I can’t breathe. I can’t breathe.”
Myers was rushed to an LA hospital by paramedics at around noon yesterday and was pronounced dead at 1PM. Late yesterday afternoon an associate of Heavy D’s told TMZ that the 44-year-old had been suffering from pneumonia.
Heavy was known amongst his peers as a massive hit-maker – releasing two Gold and three Platinum records and songs like Now That We’ve Found Love and Somebody For Me rounding out his 30-year career in the music industry.
