Kellan Lutz Didn’t Like Initial Twilight Script

Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth!

During a recent interview with Document magazine, Twilight star Kellan Lutz revealed that he was not exactly wowed by Melissa Rosenberg’s first screenplay adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s novel.

I didn’t like the script… How scary would a glimmering vampire really be? It just didn’t make sense.

Well, yeah.  We guess that sort of makes sense… But c’mon, have you seen Robert Pattinson?  With him – anything is possible!

But while Kellan isn’t shy about sharing his aversion to the initial idea of Twilight, the 27-year-old heartthrob went on to explain that his feelings were due to a trip to Africa to film HBO’s Iraq War Series “Generation Kill”.

You’re seeing all of these murals with little girls bleeding, saying, ‘Please don’t rape me. I won’t cure your AIDS’; you see people with no water, people taking baths in dirty rivers… That project matured me five years and it really just spoke to my heart.

Wow.

Kellen went on to explain that although he felt some initial hesitance, his Twilight experience was overwhelmingly positive – at least in the beginning anyway…

I gotta say my favorite moments were during… the first movie, before any of this craze happened… We were just ourselves, no one really knew who we were yet. I remember Peter [Facinelli] and Jackson [Rathbone] and myself would go to different bars and different concerts… We’d go do karaoke all the time.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that karaoke bar!
