What were you looking to convey with ‘Friday’?

Pretty much show who I really am as an artist, and what I really want to continue doing for the rest of my life, which is this. Just really do awesome music for the rest of my life.

Jordin Sparks takes being a role model seriously. The American Idol season 6 winner has recently posed for the ‘Drink Milk for a Change’ campaign, focusing on getting teens to make better choices for a healthy alternative to soda. Next up: the singer is part of “America’s Biggest Sleepover” project from BeingGirl.com to foster self-esteem in adolescent and teen girls all over the country.

Tell us about your decision to do Being Girl.

They asked me about it a while ago and I needed to see what was all about first. I saw BeingGirl, logged on, and thought, “This is so cool.” It’s an internet community for girls, by girls. The thing is a girl can log on from New York and talk to someone in Seattle about her issues- boy problems, puberty, whatever she is going through. Sometimes your friends aren’t always there when you need them. I just thought it was the greatest thing. I saw “Sleepover” and I love sleepovers - I was really excited to be a part of that as well. For every girl that registers $1 is being donated to the foundation called Protecting Futures. It’s a foundation that’s all about keeping girls in school. They hit me with a 1-2-3 punch.

Sparks truly takes it to heart her responsibility to all the girls who look up to her.

American Idol season six winner and ‘Battlefield’ singer Jordin Sparks has been announced as the opening act for the 2nd half of Britney Spears North American Circus Tour.

“Britney’s show is incredible and for me to be a part of it is a great opportunity,” Sparks said in a statement.

‘Love, Sex and Magic’ singer Ciara had toured with Spears in the UK and was thought to be the opening act for the rest of the US dates, but she is no longer mentioned. Kristina DeBarge will also appear on all dates as well as Girlicious for some special shows.

American Idol Allison Iraheta has signed a record deal with 19 Entertainment. The 17 year-old, who finished in fourth place of the 8th season of American Idol, is expected to release her first album which will be licensed to Jive Records this fall.

“I think I’m still in shock that this is happening — getting to record my first album and this whole awesome experience is a dream come true!” Iraheta said in a statement released to EW by 19 Recordings.

Big congrats to Allison, the last girl standing! She has so much talent and we can’t wait to listen to her debut album.
