Author Cassandra Clare’s book City of Bones will (finally!) be made into a movie. The first in the teen sci-fi/fantasy series The Mortal Instruments, has a script and should start casting fairly soon. Here is the official announcement:

Screen Gems has teamed with Constantin Film and Unique Features to develop the motion picture franchise MORTAL INSTRUMENTS based on The New York Times Bestselling book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.  Jessica Postigo penned the script which is based on the first book in the series, City of Bones.  Constantin Film’s head of Film & TV Martin Moszkowicz will executive produce and Robert Kulzer will produce the project via the Constantin Film banner along with producing partners Michael Lynne, Robert Shaye, and executive producer Dylan Sellers via their Unique Features banner.

In City of Bones, set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager Clary Fray, discovers she is the descendent of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of warriors dedicated to driving demons out of our world.  When Clary’s mother disappears, she must join a daring group of young Shadowhunters on an adventure, which leads her through a city filled with mischievous fairies, eccentric warlocks, werewolf gangs and other strange creatures.

I loved the books and hope that they get a great director who can pull it off.

Now for the fun part: Who do you want as Clary, Jace, Simon, Alec and Isabelle? Everyone wants Alex Pettyfer for Jace but I think with his parts in both Beastly and I Am Number Four he would be unlikey to take a role in another sci-fi movie. I’d like to see Bonnie Wright for Clary. Any thoughts?

Actress Hilary Duff just released her first novel “Elixir”, which tells the story of a globe-trotting photojournalist named Clea Raymond, and is currently on a frantic book promotional tour.

The 23 year-old author, who recently married her beau Mike Comrie, was at the Borders in New York City to kick off her tour and visited The Today Show on Monday (October 11).

Hilary tweeted her excitement, “OK! heading to my very first book signing@borders columbus circle nyc! Whooo goin to try and do my first twitpic! Wish me luck!”. While at Borders, Hilary tweeted the picture above with the caption, “thanks everyone for coming out and supporting me!! couldn’t of asked for a better crowd!! xxo”

On Tuesday, October 12th, Hilary will stop by Live! with Regis and Kelly and then continue on the Elixir book tour to Books Bytes & Beyond in Glen Rock, NJ at 5pm. In the days to follow the Elixir book tour will bring Hilary to Carle Place, NY; Bal Harbour, FL; Naperville, IL; Fenton, MO; and Los Angeles, Ca.

Teen superstar Justin Bieber, who just won four surfboards at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, had recently announced he was working on his first book, a memoir and here is the official “Justin Bieber – First Step 2 Forever: My Story” book cover.

What a long and boring title… what else to expect? The “Baby” singer is just 16 years old. He has not lived that much, so he needs to make prospects for the future (First Step 2 Forever, how poetic!). Justin’s memoir published by HarperCollins will hit bookstore shelves in October 2010.

Who is Bree Tanner? She is one of newborn vampires of the third book (movie) of The Twilight Saga, “Eclipse”. The new Twilight series’ novel will focus on the life of this new vampire, who will be executed by the Volturi. Stephenie Meyer wants us to read this book before watching the movie “Eclipse”. Why?

“Personally, I always want to read a book before seeing the movie,” Meyer said. “I like to make my own mental pictures before someone else’s picture intrudes. Probably most of my readers don’t have the same hang-up, but for those who do, I wanted to give them the chance to create their own mental pictures of Bree and the gang.”

Who is a fan of Bree Tanner? Bree will be played by Canadian teen actress Jodelle Ferland.

Twilight star Robert Pattinson will be the star of a 32-page comic book, which tells the actor’s story since his first performance in “Tess of the D’Urbervilles” at London’s Barnes Theatre to his Harry Potter role and, finally, his big break as the sexy vampire Edward Cullen.

Robert’s Bluewater Productions biographical comic is titled “FAME: Robert Pattinson” and will be available for $3.99 in May 2010. Other celebs that were also honored with biography comics include Lady GaGa, Tiger Woods and David Beckham.

She’s only 20 but Taylor Swift is planning ahead. The country superstar is preparing her autobiography to be written (someday) by keeping track of her daily life so she has instant recall of all the fabulous happenings she’s a part of.

She tells Britain’s OK! magazine, “Years from now it would be cool to write a book about all the crazy stuff and the insane things I’ve gotten to do. My life moves so fast, I have to write it all down; otherwise I can’t remember where I was yesterday. I will write my biography (sic) for sure.”

Smart! Now she won’t have to rely on her memory.

Gossip Girl costume designer Eric Daman released his fashion guide You Know You Want It: Style – Inspiriation – Confidence on December 15, 2009. On Tuesday January 12, 2010 he gathered his GG guys and gals for a launch party celebrating the success of the book. Jessica Szohr, Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Blake Lively and Michelle Trachtenberg were among those who turned out.

Author Stephenie Meyer couldn’t stop complimenting the personality and performance of actor Robert Pattinson, who plays the center character Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga, during an exclusive interview for ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ on Friday (November 13).

Stephenie guarantees Robert smells wonderfully (yes, he does not stink!) and adds, “The eyes, the facial structure. He just doesn’t look like anyone else … in a good way.”
