iCarly star Jennette McCurdy is currently busy promoting her debut country album titled “Not That Far Away”. The 18 year-old worked with some big names in country music to deliver something that would “strike a chord” and touch people, while staying true to herself as an artist. Jennette is proud to be a country star!

On why she chose country over pop: “It’s always been my favorite. I found that I could relate to it more than any other genre and I felt like it was so honest. It told stories like nothing else and it spilled everything right out on the table. There’s hardly a country song that plays that doesn’t make you smile and want to dance or want to make you have a tear trickling down your cheek, so for country music to evoke those kinds of emotions, I guess that’s what drew me towards it.”

On her album telling people who she is: “I really wanted to just be honest to myself, stay true to myself with every song and deliver a CD that I felt reflected who I am as a person and tell the stories of my life because I feel that that’s what people will relate to the most. Country music strikes a chord in peoples hearts that makes you think ‘wow! I know exactly what they’re talking about. I felt that before.’ I wanted people to be able to feel the same thing and I felt that could only be accomplished if I really wrote what I knew.”

Miranda Cosgrove was in Los Angeles Saturday afternoon for the 2010 Creative Arts Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theater along with her iCarly costar Jennette McCurdy. The Nickelodeon show was up for Oustanding Children’s Programming award along with Hannah Montana, and JONAS L.A. but all lost to Wizards of Waverly Place.

Jennette McCurdy stopped by the iSupply event in Las Vegas earlier in the week helping provide students with school supplies for the start of the new school year. The iCarly actress and singer also performed her new song  for the benefit. Items like notebooks, pens, pencils, and backpacks were collected to give to students in need.

iCarly star Jennette McCurdy performed a two hour free concert for attendees of the 2010 Street of Affordable Homes in Forest Grove, Oregon on July 25th. McCurdy, who plays Sam Puckett on the popular Nickelodeon show, covered the classic Carole King tune “So Far Away” and did a great job. Check her out above.

Actress Jennette McCurdy looked absolutely stunningly elegant at the red carpet of the 45th Annual Academy Of Country Music Awards held at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday (April 18). The 17 year-old iCarly sidekick released her first single about a year ago but she is working on a debut album since she signed a deal with Capital Records Nashville.

iCarly star Jennette McCurdy looked beautiful in a cute blue dress on the orange carpet of the 23rd Annual Kids’ Choice Awards held at the UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles on Saturday (March 27).

Miranda Cosgrove and Jennette’s iCarly won the award for “Favorite TV Show”. Congrats to both because they are a fantastic duo and the show will not be so good without Jennette’s tendency to get into trouble!
