‘Zombieland’ Grabs Box Office Top Spot
Written by Violet on October 4, 2009 – 9:45 pm -Jesse Eisenberg may be uncomfortable watching himself on screen, but lots of other people aren’t. His latest movie Zombieland, costarring Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin, just took the weekend box office number one spot bringing in $25 million on opening weekend. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs came in second (again!) and the double shot of Pixar Toy Story & Toy Story 2 took third in 3-D. Ellen Page’s latest – the roller derby coming-of-age Whip It! was a disappointing seventh place.
1. Zombieland
2. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
3. Toy Story/Toy Story 2
4. The Invention of Lying
5. Surrogates
7. Capitalism: A Love Story (tied)
7. Whip It!
8. Fame
9. The Informant
10. Love Happens
What did you see this weekend?

Jesse Eisenberg: Neurotic Zombie Hunter
Written by Violet on September 30, 2009 – 11:42 pm -Jesse Eisenberg has had some great roles playing the awkward coming-of-age geeky guy. With his newest flick Zombieland, he gets a chance to expand into a new genre of film – horror/comedy. Eisenberg spoke with dailyactor.com and gave some insight into his persona and how he feels inadequate in every film.
Even after the initial shock wears off, can’t you relax and think, “Wow. I really captured something there?”
No. I think I should have done it better or somebody else should have done it. Yeah, you never feel good. And then the times I feel really good after a scene, then I watch it and I’m like, uh, that was boring. From my acting training, you learn to just remain truthful, under what they call “imaginary circumstances.” And so the time you feel most truthful is often boring. So often the times you really feel good with a scene don’t coincide with the kinds of things one might like as a viewer, you know?
I enjoy watching Jesse a lot – too bad he doesn’t think he’s any good. If you aren’t familiar with him – watch The Squid & The Whale from a couple of years back or check him out in Adventureland with Kristen Stewart.
Zombieland co-stars Woody Harrelson, Abigail Breslin, Emma Stone and Amanda Heard and opens Friday October 2nd. Check out red carpet premiere photos of the cast (including Jesse) here.
