The Gossip Girl actress recently spoke about her unhappy days at school and being bullied. Check out what she had to say here.

Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen has her own style and personality and she is not going to change who she is because of the critics who say she is not a role model for her generation. Taylor is not another “Disney product”.

Taylor said, “Clothes are a form of self-expression. I don’t care what other people think. I’ve had lots of people say I’m disgraceful because I should act like a role model for other young kids but I’m not a role model. I’m an actress, I’m a singer and I don’t want to be a role model. If you like me that’s fantastic - but if you don’t, stop giving me a hard time.”

“I’m not some cute girl that’s been stamped out of a Disney studio and I’m proud of that. Some people like me for it, others hate it. I’m used to that. I’ve had it all my life,” Taylor added.

Taylor started acting professionally at the tender age of three but her life hasn’t been easy at all. She admitted that she was not popular in school and confessed she was actually bullied by other kids. Taylor said, “I didn’t have a great childhood. I loved my family, I loved my work but I hated school. I had a really bad time. Other kids didn’t like me. I didn’t fit in.”

The 16 year-old actress/singer also claims she has been through a lot and it really helped her to build a strong, independent character. “I do what I choose, I wear what I choose, I sing what I choose and I don’t care what anyone else thinks,” she says. Taylor has a lot of attitude, which makes establishing a friendly relationship with someone a lot harder.

Taylor used to be made fun of for her peculiar fashion sense but now she is a fashion icon for a lot of girls out there. She thinks it’s kind of ironic. Taylor has incredible confidence for a teenage girl - that is what makes her a good role model and not what she wears!

Imagine Disney’s hit show Hannah Montana with Taylor Momsen as the girl torn between two worlds. Can you see it? I have a whole different show in mind and Taylor, who auditioned and lost out on the title role to Miley Cyrus, thinks she would’ve been trouble for the squeaky clean mouse house.

She said to UK’s The Sunday Times Style magazine: ‘Honestly, if I’d have ended up as Hannah Montana, I don’t know if the show would have gone as well.

‘I probably would have told them all to go f*** themselves by the time I hit 11. And I don’t know how that would have gone down.

‘It’s great for Miley, but I really like where I am right now and I feel really fortunate to be able to really be myself.’

Momsen certainly would’ve been a headache for the executives. At least with Gossip Girl she gets a better wardrobe.

Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen has been so busy (she doesn’t even have time to think about Haiti!) that she completely forgot her pants… and no, fishnet stockings do not count as appropriate for a casual stroll on set of the CW’s hit show in Queens, New York. We can only hope Taylor is still in character and that is one of Jenny Humphrey’s ridiculous fashion statements!

Taylor Momsen (who is catching a lot of heat for her seemingly indifference to the suffering in Haiti at the moment) helped launch Victoria’s Secret Beauty latest fragrance: Love Rocks! on Thursday January 14th at the VS Soho store in New York City. The red and black packaged perfume is said to be a punk princess mix of bergamot, violet, jasmine, plum and vanilla scent.

While some of our favorite teen stars are doing everything they can to help Haiti, Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen is currently too busy with her own personal projects to think about the people whose lives were completely destroyed by a 7.0 earthquake.

Taylor told OK!, “Um, right now I’m trying to just finish my record and getting through the last season of Gossip Girl for right now. So not so much thinking about that.” Added Taylor, “But it’s awesome that everyone is ya know working towards a good cause.”

We love Taylor but you cannot live in your own little bubble not wanting to know or trying to understand what is happening around you in the world. Not a good example for a role model… Oh Taylor, Taylor!!

The end of 2009 is here today so let’s take a look back at the best TV shows aimed at and about teenagers. Some are more realistic than others and some are just downright guilty pleasures, but here are the Top 10 of 2009.

10. Gossip Girl - CW

Based on the books by Cecily von Ziegesar, the series about spoiled NYC teens on the Upper East Side was launched in 2007 and has been a favorite ever since. While ratings have slipped this year, it is still talked about. The cast (Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szohr, Ed Westwick, Penn Badgley) is super hot and garners lots of press. Hopefully the storylines will pick up and get it back on track.

9. Make It Or Break It - ABC Family

Chelsea Hobbs, Josie Loren, Ayla Kell and Cassie Scerbo are the gymnastic Olympic hopefuls at “The Rock” in Boulder Colorado, training for their shot at the big time. ABC Family’s hit show (scoring their second best premiere) gives athletic teen girls a chance to see and strive for something more than boys and clothes.

8. True Jackson, VP - Nickelodeon

Keke Palmer is terrific as the Vice President of a teen clothing line and her navigation in the world of business and all the normal drama that comes from being a teenager. Palmer is funny, charming and talented. Her costars Ashley Argota and Matt Shively play off her well and the premiere set lots of ratings records for the network.

The Gossip Girls are getting the February covers - first Jessica Szohr on Teen Vogue and now Taylor Momsen on Seventeen. Here is an excerpt from Momsen’s interview:

On teenage angst: “I am angsty. I’ll be angsty until I’m 80 years old. I think that keeps things fresh. But I always think angst is such a derogatory word toward teenagers. It just means you’re figuring s*** out, and I don’t know why that’s a negative thing.”

On people taking her seriously: “I think people don’t really take me seriously because I’m 16. And they think most 16-year-olds don’t know what they want to do. But I actually really do, because I’ve been thinking about it since I was 2. And in the world of acting, you have such a stigma put onto you that you [get into this business] for the fame. Fame frankly means nothing. It’s so stupid. Unless you do something great and unless you do something that’s fulfilling to you, what’s the point?”

Taylor comes across as driven and focused. She seems very smart about fame and it’s trappings. Hopefully, she keeps that attitude as she moves ahead in the business.

New York City was host to Taylor Momsen as she kicked off the opening ceremony for Clinique and Teen Vogue Magazine’s Fresh Faces Tour.

Actress/singer Taylor Momsen responds to people who have been criticizing her wardrobe choices, labeling them inappropriate for her age and guess what!?! Taylor doesn’t care!!

“I don’t care,” she told E! News backstage at the G-Star Raw fashion show Tuesday night in NYC. “I think if everyone’s going to be so upset about what I’m wearing, I’m like, well, maybe you should look at your life a little more. I don’t know why you’re so obsessed with mine.”

The 16 year-old also compares fashion to art and claims it’s just another way to express her creativeness.

“Music inspires me,” she says of her choice to bare what she will. “Fashion means everything. I mean, it’s art. Art means everything to me, so fashion’s another side of it. It’s expression, it’s music, it’s a way of showing and really being who you are in your own way that no one can take away from you.”

Taylor shocked when she showed up for a The Pretty Reckless concert pant-less in sexy inappropriate lingerie (check out more photos here).

Filming a scene for Gossip Girl in New York City, actress Taylor Momsen is dressed less like her character, Jenny and more like the way she dresses for her band The Pretty Reckless. The fishnets and the biker jacket are very punk inspired and seem right at home on Momsen when she’s on stage. Although the red leather bag is totally Jenny. What do you think?
