‘The Hunger Games’ Goes ‘Twilight’ And Adds A Fourth Film

Written by Violet on June 2, 2011 – 2:57 pm -

Lionsgate Films, the studio behind turning The Hunger Games books into films, are taking a cue from Twilight and Harry Potter and splitting the final installment into an extra movie.

Just like Stephanie Meyers‘ Twilight series of three books becoming four movies, Suzanne Collins‘ three novels of THG will also add a fourth film.

Book one (The Hunger Games) and two (Catching Fire) will remain as one film each but the third and final book, Mockingjay, will be split for two blockbuster films.

Stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have all had the fourth film built into their contracts to avoid the negotiations and issues that popped up when Twilight became so huge and the studio decided to add the extra film.

This is awesome news!

‘The Hunger Games’ Casting For Peeta: Hutcherson, Till, Parrish & More

Written by Violet on March 27, 2011 – 10:51 pm -

The Hunger Games casting is in full swing with director Gary Ross and author Suzanne Collins working on getting the right actor in the right role.

Jennifer Lawrence has been chosen as Katniss Everdeen but the next two big leads are still up in the air. Peeta Mellark is thought to be the role that is next on the casting list (with the role of Gale not far behind)

A few actors have confirmed they have tested for the part including Alex Pettyfer, Josh Hutcherson, Lucas Till, and Hunter Parrish are the more well known actors. Also said to be shortlisted for the role are Evan Peters from Kick Ass and Alexander Ludwig of Escape to Witch Mountain.

Now Pettyfer appears to have dropped off the list of final contenders so perhaps he is no longer in the running.

These are all really good choices but I have always like Hutcherson for the part.

Who do you think should be cast opposite Lawrence?

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Hot Guys Seventeen Magazine Photo Shoot

Written by Violet on October 16, 2010 – 12:38 pm -

Michael Trevino, Zach Roerig and Steven R McQueen are the subject of Seventeen magazine’s photo shoot for the November issue. The stars of The Vampire Diaries show off their more sensitive side in these great shots (girls, officially begin swooning now!)

The photos are great and I love the fact that all three actor’s characters are becoming more integrated into the show this year. Tyler Lockwood (Trevino) gets all wolfy soon and Matt (Roerig) has a vampire ex-girlfriend to contend with (and possibly Katherine (Nina Dobrev) has her sights on him as well.) But Jeremy Gilbert (McQueen) happens to be my favorite as he really has great potential to have a real friendship with Tyler and a true deep resentment of Damon (Ian Somerhalder.)

Written by Violet on October 12, 2010 – 8:39 am -

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (or as I like to call it HP 7.1) has still more new posters out featuring the dark ominous overtone that is becoming familiar for the ending films. “Trust No One” is the tagline for the heroes shots while the villians get “The Hunt Begins” as their motto.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and more characters below.

‘Twilight’ Cruise Ship Is Leaving Port In August

Written by Violet on April 17, 2010 – 10:44 am -

The Twilight phenomenon has spawned an ocean adventure dedicated to the popular movies and the people the world calls ‘Twi-hards.’ The Alaska Twilight Cruise and Convention at Sea is finally leaving Seattle, Washington late this year (August 8th – 15th) after a lousy economy stalled it previously. Actors Alex Meraz (Paul), Jodelle Ferland (Bree) and Michael Welch (Mike) will be locked at sea with (dare I say) obsessive fans for autographs and a question and answer session.

But the experience will cost you. According to its website, prices start at $1300 per person (including taxes and the $150 registration fee), but that’s only if two people are booked for the same room. Super fans can add a 3-night pre-cruise tour of Forks and Seattle, which starts at $499 per person. If Twi-fans go all in for the whole 10-day trip, it would cost $1800, at the very least.

A Twilight theme costume ball is included in the price as well as the stops around Alaska and British Columbia.

Honestly – who is interested in this? I suppose it could be a mother/daughter bonding thing (really?) What do you think? Would you go if you could? Have you booked with friends or family?

Leighton Meester Joins Hugh Laurie In Indie Flick

Written by Violet on February 26, 2010 – 5:56 pm -

Leighton Meester will once again be on Hugh Laurie’s radar. The Gossip Girl star was a guest for two episodes on Laurie’s hit show House, M.D. back in 2006. Now the duo will make big screen magic as lovers for the indie film The Oranges.

The story about a man who falls for the daughter of a family friend and begins a relationship that turns everyone’s world topsy turvy, looks to start shooting in New York City in April. The pair had great chemistry the first time around, let’s hope they capture that spark again.

‘Breaking Dawn’ – Two Movies Are Better Than One

Written by Violet on February 11, 2010 – 11:45 pm -

How many movies will Breaking Dawn, the final chapter of The Twilight Saga be made into has been a guessing game for fans of the series for some time. Summit, the studio that gives us the popular movies, had said that there would be only one BD flick even after actor BooBoo Stewart (Seth Clearwater) confirmed what most fans hoped for and had been assumed – there would be two movies.

Previously, author Stephanie Meyer said in an interview with MTV that she knew right where the film should be split – if it were to be made into two films and at that time seemed genuinely happy to have a two part ending to the saga. In January however, it was reported that Meyer could not “decide whether or not [making two movies] is the right thing to do creatively” and perhaps there was tension between the studio and creator. Meyer, who has given few interviews over the past year, issued a denial regarding any problems between herself and movie executives but it did make you wonder what was the problem?

After all the hoopla and behind the scenes drama, two movies will be made. An official announcement is due as early as next week. No director has been chosen (Chris Weitz, New Moon’s man in charge, has passed) and filming/production dates will need to be nailed down for all the actors – especially Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Dakota Fanning and Ashley Greene who have lots of offers and other commitments.

The third film, Eclipse is due in theaters June 2010, and the first full length trailer was rumored to be attached to Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, opening this weekend (February 12th) however that has been debunked.

What do you think? Happy with two movies or ready to see Rob and Kristen in other non vampire stuff?
