Nick Jonas has updated his monthly blog at Bayer Health Care: Nick’s Simple Wins. The youngest of The Jonas Brothers trio was diagnosed in 2005 with Type 1 diabetes and has spent much of his time educating himself and his fans to the disease and how to overcome the obstacles it can present in daily life. Here is what Nick had to say:

September was a month full of activities for me. We finished up the first leg of The Jonas Brothers Camp Rock World Tour.  It was fun to tour with the Camp Rock Crew and to see all of you at the shows.  Road Dogs season has come to an end with a BIG win in Long beach.  With that win Road Dogs have won the season!  It was fun to play the different teams all over the country.

On the last day of tour I had the pleasure of meeting with the grand prize winners of the “Give Back Simply Win” Contest. Gavin who is only six gives back to his community by raising awareness about cleaning up and saving the ocean. Elizabeth is a member of Divabetic and likes to educate people on how eating healthy can completely change your life. Risha works with critically ill children and helps them get thru their hospital stay by sending out giant hospital card quilts.  Faith, who is the Canadian winner, is a Youth Ambassador with Edmonton’s chapter of JDRF and has been doing walks for 8 years now! Meeting and talking with them not only about giving back but how they live with their diabetes each and every day was so inspirational to me.

Currently I am in London preparing for the O2 Performance of Les Miserables. Then it is off to start the next leg of our word tour in South America and seeing more of you!
My Simple Win this month: Being prepared with the proper supplies so I can get thru my hectic schedule each month.

Nick Jonas suffers from type I diabetes and he has given his face to countless juvenile diabetes awareness campaigns. So Nick is the perfect model for Bayer’s brand new super cool blood glucose monitoring system, the Contour USB.

Nick says, When Bayer told me they were coming out with a new blood glucose meter that plugs into a computer, I knew it was for me! I already liked and was using Bayer’s CONTOUR® meter, but when I got Bayer’s CONTOUR® USB meter it just made sense because I need to stay on top of my blood sugars wherever I am. This meter has software on board, so I can easily download my blood glucose results to see my trends, and send them to my doctor. It’s so helpful for me, especially because of my hectic schedule.

From CNN’s Health Minute – a very short interview with Nick Jonas about his struggle with diabetes. As most of his fans know, the seventeen year old Jonas Brother was diagnosed four years ago and has since gone on to speak on Capitol Hill for funding and awareness. He has also become a paid spokesperson for Bayer products and you’ve probably seen his commercials for their insulin meter. Jonas has learned to balance his condition but mentions that sometimes his brothers have had to cover for him onstage. Check out the (too short) video above.
