Vanessa Hudgens headed to the desert for the 2011 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California on Friday.

Hudgens had a wide brimmed floppy hat on to help shield her from the soaring heat at the event. The Sucker Punch actress was boho chic with low rider patterned pants, a sleeveless orange top, loads of jewelry and a woven light blue bag.

The 22 year-old was also spotted with her Journey 2 costar Josh Hutcherson as they checked out the musical acts that included The Chemical Brothers and Kings of Leon.

This is Vanessa Hudgens big year! The 22 year-old actress is really trying hard to make a successful transition from Disney star to an “adult” actress with two new movies, “Beastly” and “Sucker Punch”.

Vanessa recently broke up with her High School Musical boyfriend, Zac Efron, and I’ve got a feeling she will have the opportunity to try some new things. Vanessa is probably a better actress than singer, so she is on the right path.

In an interview for Cineplex Magazine, Vanessa claims “Sucker Punch” is like six movies in one and she loved the experience. As for “Beastly”, the actress finally understood the deeper message behind the modern version of “Beauty & The Beast”.

Here are some highlights from Vanessa Hudgens’ Cineplex interview:

On putting “Sucker Punch” into words: “It’s really interesting and extremely hard to put into words. But it’s basically six movies all put together in one and with different settings, and it takes place in the fifties and it’s super kick-ass. It’s classy, it’s empowering and it’s very moving.”

On Blondie: “She’s kind of a follower in the real world but once we go into the fight sequences she turns into an extreme badass.”

On her thoughts of Beastly: “I did [think it was just a Disney story], until I really looked into it. And it fascinates me that people still have not caught onto [the message]…Now more than ever kids are extremely fascinated with the Hollywood glamour and it’s not how it is, but that’s all that you see.”

Alex Pettyfer’s nerves must have been a mess but you’d never tell from looking at these photos.

The star walked the red carpet at The Grove’s Pacific Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, February 24th for the premiere of his latest film, Beastly. Pettyfer arrived late because he had a house fire to attend to!

“There was an electrical fire in the garage while no one was home,” “Glee” actress Dianna Agron‘s rep told ETOnline following the red carpet event. “The house was not burned. No one was hurt.”

According to officials, 27 Los Angeles Fire Department personnel answered the call and the blaze was out in under a half hour.

Vanessa Hudgens was in a purple mood as she walked the red carpet for the premiere of Beastly, held at The Grove’s Pacific Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, February 24th.

Hudgens chose a strapless purple print gown with rise and fall hem from Julien Macdonald and accessorized with blue jay colored shoes and lipstick red clutch. Colorful indeed!

The event was sponsored by Hudgens’ latest gig: Candies. The actress is the new Candies Girl (see photos here) following Britney Spears‘ stint as the spokesmodel for the company.

After the release date was moved around multiple times, Beastly is finally ready to hit theaters on March 4th.

Alex Pettyfer is Kyle, the obnoxious high school jerk who has everything and lives at the shallow end of the pool who humilates Kendra (Mary Kate Olsen) and finds himself cursed to a life of hideous scars. With the help of his blind tutor Will (Neil Patrick Harris) Kyle has to find love, someone who can see past the curse and Lindy, (Vanessa Hudgens) the class mate he ignored might be the one to see Kyle in a different light.

Actor Alex Pettyfer, who is rumored to be engaged to his girlfriend Dianna Agron, admitted that he strangely relates to the character he plays in the science fiction thriller “I Am Number Four”. Alex plays John Smith, an alien who disguises himself as a regular high school student to avoid his enemies.

“My character is an outsider,” Alex says, “and he’s a role model for kids who think they don’t fit in.” Alex can identify: “I definitely feel a bit like an alien in America.”

The 20 year-old British hunk is also going to take over the big screen with “Beastly”, a modern version of “The Beauty and The Beast” story also starring Vanessa Hudgens. Alex reveals the hardest part was to sit for long hours in makeup for the Beastly makeover.

“Four and a half hours to put on the prosthetics, and one and a half to take them off,” he recalls of his terrifying transformation. “It was intense.”

When asked if he would like to live forever, Alex replied, “No, but I do treat every moment like it’s my last.”

Vanessa Hudgens is gearing up for the release of Beastly (finally!) The date has been delayed, moved and pushed around the calendar so much it’s a wonder there is still interest in it.

Costarring with Alex Pettyfer, Mary Kate Olsen and Neil Patrick Harris (who later directed her at the Hollywood Bowl in a performance of Rent,) Hudgens spoke to ComingSoon about how she chose Beastly, her character Lindy and doing stunts while afraid of heights:

On what attracted her to the role: “It was just a script that was in the pile, you know, and I read it, and I thought that it was really interesting. I had a meeting with them, and I remember running in, and I was late and I felt horrible, and we just had a great conversation. It was me, Susan the producer and Daniel the director, and we just sat and talked about the project. Just hearing Daniel’s ambitions, what he wanted to do, how he wanted to shoot it, how he wanted to develop the characters. It just seemed like the right next choice.”

On who Lindy is and how she’s different: “It’s a whole lot different than me. I’m very outgoing and confident and when it comes to Lindy, she’s a bit more all over the place. She’s kind of the person that has a bunch of word vomit. She’ll say something and then instantly start to retract it, yet she can’t stop talking about it. She’s just kind of this neurotic character that’s just a lot of fun. There’s much more of a deeper undertone to the way I speak in it, because I have an extremely high voice.”

On her stunt work: “I’ve had one stunt already, which was quite frightening ’cause I’m afraid of heights, and I had to climb up a ladder, hold onto something upside down, they rigged me and I was literally hanging upside down on a pole, and then they would let the latch go, and they’d count “3,2,1″ and then I’d let go and fall into Alex’s arms.”

The movie hits theaters March 4th.

I seriously cannot wait to watch the so-called modern version of “The Beauty and The Beast”. Alex is an amazing talented actor with another movie titled “I Am Number Four” coming out on February 18th (teaser trailer HERE). And Vanessa’s “Sucker Punch” premieres on March 25th (movie trailer HERE).

Nine infants from planet Lorien have been sent to Earth to escape an invading army on their home planet. But that doesn’t deter the bounty hunter aliens who need to kill them and follow the tots to Earth. The kids are assigned numbers and must be killed in order. Number One, Two and Three are dead. Number Four is next.

Number Four is John Smith (Alex Pettyfer) a teenager living in Ohio. He’s on the run until he meets his first real love Sarah Hart (Dianna Agron) and decides it’s time to fight back.

Four is in theaters on February 18, 2011.

Alex Pettyfer is very hot and completely arrogant at the beginning of Beastly. His character, Kyle Kingston is the guy with everything and he knows it. Too bad for him he underestimates a classmate, Kendra (Mary Kate Olsen) who happens to have supernatural powers and curses Kyle to a life of disfigurement after he is incredibly cruel, savage and heartless to her.

His only saving grace? Finding that one person who will see past his physical self and fall in love with him. Kyle gets sage advice from his blind tutor (Neil Patrick Harris) and Vanessa Hudgens is the girl who catches his eye but is it too late? Can the curse still be broken?

The new release date is March 18, 2011.
