‘The Hunger Games’ Goes ‘Twilight’ And Adds A Fourth Film
Written by Violet on June 2, 2011 – 2:57 pm -Lionsgate Films, the studio behind turning The Hunger Games books into films, are taking a cue from Twilight and Harry Potter and splitting the final installment into an extra movie.
Just like Stephanie Meyers‘ Twilight series of three books becoming four movies, Suzanne Collins‘ three novels of THG will also add a fourth film.
Book one (The Hunger Games) and two (Catching Fire) will remain as one film each but the third and final book, Mockingjay, will be split for two blockbuster films.
Stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have all had the fourth film built into their contracts to avoid the negotiations and issues that popped up when Twilight became so huge and the studio decided to add the extra film.
This is awesome news!

Lily Collins Lands In ‘City Of Bones’
Written by Violet on December 9, 2010 – 8:32 pm -Lily Collins has grabbed up a role in big screen adaptation of YA novel City Of Bones. The Blind Side actress has just landed the deal to star in the film that Scott Charles Stewart will direct. Stewart and Collins have worked together before on the clergyman- turned-vampire-hunter movie Priest, starring Paul Bettany and Cam Gigandet.
While the original article doesn’t say specifically which role she has (it says only “set to star”) I believe that means Collins will have the Clary Fray role (not Isabella Lightwood.) She definitely fits the physical description of Clary – 15 year old, red hair and freckles – more than Isabella.
Along with Priest, Collins also has Abduction with Taylor Lautner coming out in 2011.
I love Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments series and look forward to more casting on this.

With Hanna in the hospital and armed with the information of who “A” is, the girls are backtracking to figure out how they got to this point. City Of Bones Is Headed To The Big Screen
Written by Violet on October 16, 2010 – 5:26 am -Author Cassandra Clare’s book City of Bones will (finally!) be made into a movie. The first in the teen sci-fi/fantasy series The Mortal Instruments, has a script and should start casting fairly soon. Here is the official announcement:
Screen Gems has teamed with Constantin Film and Unique Features to develop the motion picture franchise MORTAL INSTRUMENTS based on The New York Times Bestselling book series The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. Jessica Postigo penned the script which is based on the first book in the series, City of Bones. Constantin Film’s head of Film & TV Martin Moszkowicz will executive produce and Robert Kulzer will produce the project via the Constantin Film banner along with producing partners Michael Lynne, Robert Shaye, and executive producer Dylan Sellers via their Unique Features banner.
In City of Bones, set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager Clary Fray, discovers she is the descendent of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of warriors dedicated to driving demons out of our world. When Clary’s mother disappears, she must join a daring group of young Shadowhunters on an adventure, which leads her through a city filled with mischievous fairies, eccentric warlocks, werewolf gangs and other strange creatures.
I loved the books and hope that they get a great director who can pull it off.
Now for the fun part: Who do you want as Clary, Jace, Simon, Alec and Isabelle? Everyone wants Alex Pettyfer for Jace but I think with his parts in both Beastly and I Am Number Four he would be unlikey to take a role in another sci-fi movie. I’d like to see Bonnie Wright for Clary. Any thoughts?

‘Pretty Little Liars’ & The Mystery Of ‘A’
Written by Violet on August 10, 2010 – 8:03 am -
Pretty Little Liars is working the magic of who the mysterious “A” is. The cast seems to be in the dark too but they do have fun guessing, speculating and commenting on rumors they’ve heard. Stars Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Troian Avery Bellisario and Shay Mitchell all ponder who it is who is messing with them. Check the clip above from MTV.
Don’t forget the summer/mid season finale: Episode 10 “Keep Your Friends Close” airs on ABC Family Tuesday August 10th at 8pm ET/PT. Here is the synopsis:
When the discovery of a new piece of evidence about Alison’s disappearance brings the FBI to town, the last thing the girls want to do is go “glamping” (glam camping) for Mona’s birthday party. But when they get a text that insinuates that “A” will be at the party, Spencer gets the idea that it will be their chance to finally put an end to the threats. Once at Camp Mona, not even the mani/pedi station can lift the girls’ spirits when the evening takes a dangerous turn.
Meanwhile, the Marin financial situation is pushing Ashley to the brink.
Check out the preview clip below.

Bridgit Mendler Makes ‘Lemonade Mouth’ Magic
Written by Violet on August 4, 2010 – 10:02 pm -Bridgit Mendler may be the next big thing and Disney seems to agree. The network has cast her as the lead in their latest hottest property Lemonade Mouth. The book about five Rhode Island teens who meet in detention and form a band is being developed to take Disney forward with a new crop of teen stars. Mendler will play Olivia and joining her is Hayley Kiyoko (Stella,) Adam Hicks (Wen,) Naomi Scott (Mo,) and Blake Michael (Charlie.)
Production has started in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the made for TV movie will hit sometime in 2011.
High School Musical is done (at least the original.) Camp Rock 2 will hit soon and that will be over. Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana are ending their series soon and the House of Mouse needs some replacement material and new talent to develop.
Lemonade Mouth is a great book and could be so fun. I’m looking forward to it.

Miley Cyrus To Star In Dark Thriller “Wake”
Written by Gossip Gal on June 19, 2010 – 5:55 am -Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus is in a completely new stage of her career now. The 17 year-old, whose new album “Can’t Be Tamed” comes out on Monday (June 21), is currently in negotiations to star in a movie adaptation of Lisa McMann’s thriller “Wake”.
“Wake” is the first in a trilogy of novels by McCann that chronicle the adventures of 17-year-old Janie, a teenager who has been able to see into other people’s dreams since she was 8 years old.
For the most part, the dreams have been of the falling/drowning/forgetting-your-pants variety, but when she begins visiting the disturbing nightmares of a local pothead named Cabel, she realizes she that the only way to survive is to go from being a witness to an active participant.
“Disturbia” writer Christopher Landon is working in this movie, which has the potential of becoming a trilogy. Lisa McMann’s scary first installment of Janie and Cabel’s adventures is followed by “Fade” and “Gone”. This could be the opportunity for Miley to become a major mainstream actress.
