Saoirse Ronan walked the red carpet for the London premiere of her film The Way Back earlier this week. The 16 year-old Irish star posed for photos (some with costar Colin Farrell,) at the Curzon Mayfair Cinemas.

Ronan received praise from her other costar, veteran actor Ed Harris who said:

“She was so present in a cool way and really mysterious. I loved working with her. She was just 16 when we made it, I think, a little bit older than my daughter. She had a wonderful work ethic, really friendly, always in good spirits, charming, pretty. I felt a little bit protective of her, though she didn’t really need that. We had a really nice thing. I loved just being totally simple and honest with her. She’s living and breathing in the moment and you’re able to just experience that with her.”

The Way Back is based on the memoirs of a man who escaped a Siberian gulag with other prisoners and they walked 4000 miles to their freedom in India. The film gets released in Los Angeles on December 29th (presumably to qualify for Oscars) and then goes to more theaters January 2011.

Daniel Radcliffe gave a wonderful performance by singing the entire table of the periodic elements for his appearance on The Graham Norton Show. “The Elements” was written by lyrical satirist Tom Lehrer who Radcliffe called “kind of my hero.”

This makes me want to see him in the Broadway musical How To Succeed in Business (Without Really Trying) all the more.

Saoirse Ronan has a new film out at the end of the year: The Way Back. The 16 year-old Irish actress plays Irena, one of a group of people who persevere through unbelievable hardships to find freedom.

Inspired by Slavomir Rawicz’s acclaimed novel, The Long Walk: The True Story of a Trek to Freedom as well as other real life accounts, six time Oscar nominated director Peter Weir’s (“Witness”, “Master And Commander”, & “Dead Poet’s Society”) “The Way Back” is a remarkable adventure story chronicling the escape of a small group of multi-national prisoners from a Siberian gulag in 1940 and their epic life affirming journey over thousands of miles across five hostile countries.

The Way Back gets a limited release on December 29th (just in time for Oscar nominations) and goes to more theaters January 21st.

Twilight actress Nikki Reed got the invite to see the new Colin Farrell film, Ondine as it made it’s premiere in New York City at the Tribeca Film Festival Wednesday night, April 28th. (What’s with the hands on the hips pose? Not flattering.)

Reed will be back at work as Rosalie Cullen now that a director has been chosen for the final Twilight Saga flick, Breaking Dawn.
