Emma Stone Will Be Gwen Stacy In ‘Spider-Man’ Reboot

Written by Violet on October 6, 2010 – 8:44 pm -

Emma Stone has officially landed a part in the new Spider-Man movie but not as Mary Jane Watson – instead she will be Gwen Stacy, the first love of Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield.) Here is the press release:

CULVER CITY, Calif., October 5, 2010 – Emma Stone has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming Spider-Man film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, it was announced today by Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures. Stone has been tapped for the role of Gwen Stacy opposite Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. The film, to be directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and produced by Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin, will begin production in December and will be released in theaters nationwide in 3D on July 3, 2012.

The casting continues an association between Sony Pictures and the actress, who previously starred in Superbad, The House Bunny, and Zombieland, all for Columbia Pictures; she may currently be seen in Screen Gems’ hit comedy Easy A, and takes a cameo role in Screen Gems’ upcoming Friends with Benefits.

Commenting on the announcement, Tolmach said, “It’s been an incredible journey for us to watch Emma’s star rise as an actress. She is extraordinarily talented and has a very special on-screen spark that is perfect for this role. Given her history with the studio, casting her in one of our most important franchises is a real thrill.”

Webb added, “The chemistry between Andrew and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice. At the heart of the of the story of Peter Parker is not only the amazing Spider-Man, but also an ordinary teenager who is wondering what he has to do to get the girl. Andrew and Emma will bring everything audiences expect to these roles, but also make them their own. Much to my surprise, it was fun to find out that our choice for Gwen (Emma) is also a natural blonde.”

If Sony stays faithful to the original comic story line, this will be a limited role for Stone – Gwen isn’t around for long – but this is Hollywood and a new vision may change the ending. Next major casting piece ahead – the part of Mary Jane.

Emma Stone Might Be Spider-Man’s Mary Jane

Written by Violet on October 4, 2010 – 8:20 am -

The casting for the latest movie in the Spider-Man reboot is coveted by young Hollywood for it’s high profile box-office potential. This version will see Peter Parker (Spidey’s alter-ego) in high school and while Josh Hutcherson and Logan Lerman were rumored to be front runners for the part, it has gone to Andrew Garfield, who stars in this week’s big big big movie The Social Network.

Next up – who is going to be Peter’s love Mary Jane Watson? Everybody’s favorite Emma Stone is going to get the offer, according to Deadline Hollywood.

Sony Pictures Entertainment will imminently offer the role of Mary Jane Watson to Emma Stone, who starred for the studio in Zombieland and Easy A. It’s another good role for Stone, who is currently shooting the Tate Taylor-directed adaptation of the Kathryn Stockett bestseller The Help for DreamWorks. She plays Skeeter, the college student who comes home determined to expose the class differences between the matriarchs and their house servants in the South in 1962.

Stone, and Garfield for that matter, are on fire with plum roles sought after by actors under 25. Glee’s Dianna Agron and The Kids Are All Right star Mia Wasikowska were also considered for Mary Jane but may still be in the running for the part of Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker’s high school sweetheart.

Emma is the October cover of Nylon magazine’s “It Girl Issue.” Check it out here.

Taylor Swift ‘Fame’ Comic Book

Written by Violet on April 26, 2010 – 4:24 pm -

In July, Taylor Swift will hit the store shelves, in comic book form. The country music superstar is set to become illustrated by Bluewater Productions as part of the ‘Fame’ series. The biographical comics have included Kristen Stewart and Lady Gaga. From Bluewater:

SUPERSTAR TAYLOR SWIFT MAKES THE PAGES OF HER OWN COMIC BOOK IN JULY.

To say that Taylor Swift is riding a winning streak is an understatement. The singer/songwriter was named Billboard Magazine’s Artist of the Year in 2009. She began her 2010 by winning the Grammy for Album of the Year for her sophomore album, Fearless. That album has spent more time at number-one on the Billboard charts than has any other album since 2000.

And now, the talented musician is slated to become a comic-book hero. Swift will become the latest celebrity immortalized in sequential form when her biography comic, Fame: Taylor Swift hits comic shops this July.

The comic, by Bluewater Productions, will trace Swift’s rise from young singer/songwriter to mega-selling recording artist. It also chronicles her unwavering commitment to pushing herself. After all, this is a performer who began writing songs at the age of 10. Just one year later, she traveled to Nashville, determined to break into the country music scene.

Swift distributed her demo tape to every label in town, and received no offers. Of course, all that would change quickly. In 2006, she debuted with her self-titled album, and Swift’s life has never been the same.

CW Cooke and PR McCormack teamed up to write the Swift bio comic, while artist Erick Adrian Marquez handled the pencils. The comic features two covers, one by Marquez and a second by JuanMar Studios. This 32-page comic will retail for $3.99.

“Learning about Taylor’s life from the beginning until now made her feel like more than just the next big thing, it made me see the pop icon as a human being.” Said writer CW Cooke.

Artist Marquez said he was impressed while reading the script to Swift’s comic at the dedication the young artist showed even as a child.

“I really appreciate Swift’s – and her parent’s – drive from such a young age to be successful based on her creativity and talent,” Marquez said.

Fame: Taylor Swift is the latest biography comic from Bluewater Productions. Though the independent comic company publishes comics in every genre – superhero, fantasy, adventure and young adult – it has received significant media attention for its biography comics, which have feature such high-profile subjects as Oprah Winfrey, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and Colin Powell. The company’s Fame line will feature Lady GaGa, 50 Cent, Robert Pattinson and soccer star David Beckham.

“We’ve found a niche with our bio comics,” said Darren G. Davis, president and founder of Bluewater Productions. “Our success with this comics shows that there is a much wider audience for sequential storytelling than many thought. These readers are simply looking for something other than superheroes or horror. With our bio comics, we strive to bring these new readers evenhanded, well-researched looks at some of their favorite celebrities.”

Readers can advance order Fame: Taylor Swift at Amazon.com or by calling their local comic shop. They can also order Fame: Lady GaGa and Fame: Robert Pattinson, both due out in May, in the same way.

Taylor Lautner Action Flick Bidding War

Written by Violet on February 15, 2010 – 7:59 am -

Taylor Lautner is potentially the hottest young actor to come out of The Twilight Saga franchise. As much as everyone now talks about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart when it comes to movie projects, Lautner is securing one heck of a commercial future for himself. With starring roles in Cancun, the Max Steel and Stretch Armstrong action hero adaptations, and Northern Lights, (not costarring Tom Cruise however) the actor who just turned 18 is attached to star in Abduction (a Jason Bourne identity in question kind of role) and that pic is up for a bidding war between at least two studios. The big question remains, Lautner is unproven beyond Twilight for bringing an audience to the theater. Will these movies even get made? Is this all just hype for the actor?

Let’s hear what you think – will you go see Taylor Lautner in any of these films? After Twilight is done, do you think you’ll still be interested in him as a character other than Jacob Black?

FAME: Robert Pattinson, The Comic Book

Written by Gossip Gal on February 4, 2010 – 4:24 pm -

Twilight star Robert Pattinson will be the star of a 32-page comic book, which tells the actor’s story since his first performance in “Tess of the D’Urbervilles” at London’s Barnes Theatre to his Harry Potter role and, finally, his big break as the sexy vampire Edward Cullen.

Robert’s Bluewater Productions biographical comic is titled “FAME: Robert Pattinson” and will be available for $3.99 in May 2010. Other celebs that were also honored with biography comics include Lady GaGa, Tiger Woods and David Beckham.

Nickelodeon Marching Forward with ‘The Troop’

Written by Violet on May 11, 2009 – 9:26 pm -

Nickelodeon is stepping up efforts to compete with the Disney Channel for your time and viewership. The cable channel is giving the go-ahead to more shows with live actors versus animated series. Now that Drake and Josh and Zoey 101 have ended, Nickelodeon is trying to fill that gap and help their very popular iCarly  and True Jackson, VP by surrounding it with other teen oriented shows. The new series ‘The Troop’ has some sci-fi and action adventure to keep you tuned in.

“Troop,” [...] follows Jake (Nick Purcell), a typical teenager struggling through adolescence who dreams of creating his own comic book. When his school counselor (John Marshall Jones) recruits him into the Troop — a secret society that protects the world from the monsters that walk among us — Jake suddenly discovers a whole new existence. He teams with the smart, athletic and popular Hayley (Gage Golightly) and annoying paranormal expert Felix (David Del Rio) to take on monster missions.”

Filming in Vancouver, Nick is hoping for a fall premiere. What do you think? Will you watch it?

Megan Fox: Comic Book Movie Star

Written by Violet on March 4, 2009 – 1:08 pm -

Two upcoming films revolving around the comic book world have one of the hottest young actresses attached to star in them: Megan Fox.

The actress has signed on to ‘Jonah Hex’ described as a sci-fi western, where she is Lelia, the love interest to Josh Brolin’s Jonah. She is also starring in ‘Fathom’ where she will play Aspen, a girl who can control water.

Both sound interesting and should have great special effects. I think she will be great in these movies.
