17-year-old Dakota Fanning turned up at Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2012 runway show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week last night looking absolutely stunning in a sleeveless, knee-length gown that was absolutely perfect for her.

Love when starlets actually dress their age!

The Cosmopolitan cover girl was joined by Mr. Jacobs himself for the show’s after party at the New York State Armory and graciously posed for photogs all night long.

Dakota Fanning may be just 17-years-old, but the child star looks all grown up on the cover of the February issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine.

The NYU freshman, who was just named the ‘zine’s “Fun Fearless Female of the Year” looks gorgeous on her first Cosmo cover, in a super low-cut J. Mendel dress and flirty, understated jewelry.

In her interview with the women’s mag, the Twilight star opens up about always feeling comfortable with what God gave her.

Since I was young, I’ve always known who I was.  I never really had to go through finding who I am.  I’ve always felt really secure.

Nice to see a young Hollywood starlet with a good head on her shoulders – and a beautiful one too boot!

Dakota Fanning may have made her mark in Hollywood playing a sweet little girl in films like I Am Sam and Uptown Girls, but now the 17-year-old is ready to take on more adult roles – and wouldn’t you know it – she’s landed herself one in the period piece, Effie.

In the film written by Academy Award winner Emma Thompson, Fanning plays Euphemia ‘Effie’ Gray, an unhappily married 17th century woman caught up in a sordid love triangle.

Sounds delicious!

So what does the former child star think of playing a more “grown up” role?

I think actually in films I’ve done more adult things in other ones than I have in this one… But this is my first time being a wife and all of that, which is actually kind of exciting and very fun.

Effie is currently in post-production and is slated to hit theaters in 2012.

Super actress Dakota Fanning is the face of Marc Jacobs’ newly launched “Oh, Lola!”, a lighter fragrance in a delicate and beautiful pink bottle with Lola’s signature flower lid (see pic above).

The advertising campaign was shot by famed photographer Juergen Teller, and Dakota became the perfect model for this sweet, charming and sparkly new Lola fragrance. “Oh, Lola!” will hit stores next month on July 27.

W Magazine compiled a list of the best performers of the past year. The Fanning sisters, Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning, might be young, but they have both been including in this list, which includes some big names like Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, Mila Kunis and Annette Benning.

16 year-old Dakota’s character in “The Runaways” and 12 year-old Elle’s character in Sofia Coppola’s “Somewhere” were described as “so real they hurt”. They brought their characters to life and made us believe they are real.

DAKOTA FANNING IN “THE RUNAWAYS”:
Dakota speaks of her high school experience: “It was important for me to go to a normal high school. I have a locker, which was a big deal. My mom had to buy me a lock and teach me how to use it. It’s the little things: Where do you go at lunch? How do you open the locker? I wanted a yearbook! Now I have a lot of signatures in my yearbook—‘Have a good summer’ and all that.”

ELLE FANNING IN “SOMEWHERE”:
Elle speaks of her obsession with Marilyn Monroe: “The first movie I really fell in love with was The Seven Year Itch. I love Marilyn Monroe. I went as her in the white dress for Halloween. I did the mole and the little cat eye.”

Chloe Moretz attended the 2010 Children’s BAFTA Awards in London on Sunday November 28th. The young actress wore the Chanel dress that Jessica Alba was featured in for one of her two covers on Elle magazine for December 2010. (See all the photos below.)

Moretz has been cast in the film Hick (based on the novel from Andrea Portes) and today she gained a costar: Kirsten Dunst. The story is about 13 year old abandoned by her folks who makes her way to Las Vegas and is taken in by Dunst’s con-artist Glenda.

Moretz’s character Luli is raped in the book (and it is likely to happen in the film as well.) How graphic it will be on screen remains to be seen and this is not new for a young  girl to portray a victim of rape. In 2007 Dakota Fanning’s parents and filmmakers received sharp criticism for allowing her to take on Hounddog, where Fanning’s on screen character was also victim of a sexual assault.

Fanning appears well-adjusted and downright happy today which makes it seem as though if enough care is taken, the actress can be young and not leave the film damaged but is it worth the risk? Many actor regardless of their age will say how a character – especially an emotionally scarred one – will live with them long after the movie shoot; the psychic “dust” still clings to them.

So what do you think? Is this a disturbing trend – not just this but the number of assassins and killers that teenage girls are being cast as? Is it ok as long as the actress is well-taken care of emotionally? Will you see this movie?

A presenter at the BAFTA Los Angeles 2010 Britannia Awards, Dakota Fanning came out shining on Thursday night. The Twilight actress wore a floor length Valentino gown with a bow detail on the back.

Fanning and actress Carey Mulligan presented Michael Sheen (Dakota’s Twilight costar) with the British Artist of the Year Award. The ceremony will be televised on the TV Guide channel, Monday November 7th.

Actress Dakota Fanning confessed that her very first girl-on-girl kiss happened on the set of the movie “The Runaways”. The 16 year-old, who played Cherie Currie, and co-star Kristen Stewart, who played Joan Jett, were forced to kiss for one hot scene, but Dakota says it wasn’t awfully awkward.

Dakota felt comfortable with Kristen. In fact, the two have become BFFs.

Dakota said: “Was it awkward? When you feel comfortable around someone and you have no defenses up, that’s when you’re going to be the best. I feel very comfortable with Kristen.”

Dakota is also growing up and wants to be able to take more risky and mature roles. Her career has been evolving naturally and the actress has her parents’ full support.

She explained: “I wanted to do a different kind of movie because I am getting older and my parents had no doubts about the project whatsoever. I think everyone was comfortable because it’s a true story.”

“My mom was there on set the whole time. My dad saw it at the Sundance Festival and I wasn’t really nervous because I’ve been doing this since I was six, so he’s used to seeing me in different situations.

“He says that when he watched it he didn’t even think it was me because I look so different and Cherie is not who I am in real life.”

Elle Fanning has grabbed a plum part in director Sofia Coppola’s latest film Somewhere. Dakota’s younger sister is poised to shine on her own in the father/daughter drama set in Los Angeles. Fanning is the 11 year-old Cleo, who gives her father (played by Stephen Dorff) a reason to change. Here is the official synopsis:

Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff) is a bad-boy A-List actor stumbling through a life of excess while living at Hollywood’s legendary Chateau Marmont Hotel.  His days are a haze of drinks, girls, fast cars and fawning fans.  Cocooned in this celebrity-induced artificial world, Johnny has lost all sense of his true self.

Until, that is, his 11-year-old daughter Cleo (Elle Fanning) unexpectedly shows up and unwittingly begins to anchor him.  Johnny’s fragile connection to real life slowly revives in her presence. So when the time comes for Cleo to leave, his sense of loss is palpable, but the gift of hope she has also brought him leads to a beautiful, poetic denouement imbued with all of Coppola’s remarkable powers to conjure mood and atmosphere.

Quiet and understated, Coppola’s movies are magnificent hidden gems to discover and she brings out wonderful performances in the actors she casts (think Scarlett Johannson and Bill Murray in Lost In Translation.) I look forward to seeing Elle and Stephen light up the screen. Check out the trailer below.

Actress Dakota Fanning is working hard on building a solid and serious acting career and she is currently living a dream after being part of two major and very successful movies this year, “The Runaways” and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”.

However, the 16 year-old is mature enough to know that fame is ephemeral – it does not last forever – and her career could just “end tomorrow”. We doubt it. Dakota is a super talented actress, but we understand what she is trying to say.

“I know this is what I want to do for the rest of my life but I think that everything can end tomorrow,” Dakota confessed. “You have to live your life for the moment and not take it for granted. I don’t think you ever feel completely secure.”

Dakota also admits that she doesn’t know how to do anything else other than act. And, finally, she confessed she would love to work with actress Jodie Foster. Just ask Kristen Stewart! Kristen played Jodie’s daughter in the 2002 thriller “Panic Room”.

Dakota said, “I’d love to work with Jodie Foster. I really admire her, her career and what she’s done. I can only hope to be just a little bit of how great she is.”

We wish Dakota all the luck in the world. She totally deserves it and much more. There’s definitely an Oscar in her future.
