With a new album coming out in just a couple of weeks, Demi Lovato has put her troubles behind her and is focusing on the future.

The 19 year-old singer says she still struggles with those personal issues (an eating disorder and cutting) as anyone in recovery does, but Lovato says the decisions she makes now and her friends keep her on the right path.

“I surround myself with people that are beneficial in my recovery and my recovery is still a daily battle and I definitely hang out with people that support me in making the right decisions,” Lovato said.

“I’m a happier and healthier person today because of the choices I’ve made.”

The “Skyscraper” singer said those good choices have helped her overcome so much and that the title of her album reflects her being able to rise and rebuild her life.

“Unbroken is basically me and who I am today,” Lovato continued. “I’m unbroken and after everything I’ve been through I’m still standing strong, like a skyscraper.”

No matter what problems she’s faced in the past, Demi Lovato is trying hard to face them honestly and not lay the blame where it doesn’t belong.

Lovato, 19, spoke to Elle magazine about her recent troubles and fesses up to her once terrible ‘tude.

“I was completely out of line all summer,” she says. “Just the worst attitude—totally ungrateful.”

As tempting as it may be for the “Skyscraper” singer to blame stress of the Camp Rock 2 tour with her ex Joe Jonas, and his girlfriend-at-the-time Ashley Greene, she says the issues were much deeper than that.

“I wouldn’t credit my meltdown to a guy. There was so much other stuff in my life.”

Lovato has spoken in the past about the taunting and bullying she endured in school and it was so bad for her, it led to her cutting herself and eventually, being home schooled by her mother. She says that to this day, she doesn’t know what led the mean girls to ridicule her so badly.

“Those girls never gave me an explanation for why they were bullying me,” she says. “One of the words they called me was fat. At that age, you think, Oh, so I don’t have friends because I’m fat.”

Lovato is moving past and through her music, she’s able to mature and blossom.

“What was always markedly different about her was that adult quality,” says Disney Studios chairman Rich Ross. “When you meet her, you know this isn’t a girl in stiletto heels—this is a woman.”

“She just wouldn’t stop crying. It’s like it all just hit her at once. She kept saying how much she misses him, and how she wants him back… It was crazy how emotional she was,” a Demi pal divulges. “She puts on a good front that everything is okay, but in reality she’s obviously still hurting. It’s sad, but we know she will get through it.”

Aw! We really thought Joe and Demi were just perfect for each other. We wish Joe would give her another chance to make things right. The Jonas Brothers and Demi are getting ready to go on tour together to promote their new movie, “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam”.
