Jackson Rathbone Delves Into Jasper’s History For ‘Eclipse’
Written by Violet on September 2, 2009 – 6:53 pm -In the upcoming release of the second film in The Twilight Saga, some characters with limited screen time will see their roles expanded. One fan favorite from the books was Jasper Hale, played by Jackson Rathbone, and he had a very small part in the first movie. That’s about to change. In New Moon and the now-filming third installment, Eclipse, Rathbone will have a chance to give depth to his Civil War Era human-turned-mood-altering-vampire.
“I’ve been studying up a lot on the Civil War and that era; it really was a crazy time, it was all-out war on our own turf and between countrymen,” Jackson told MTV News. “It’s an interesting time to see when Jasper was actually human, and what his human form was, and when he gets turned how intense and how dark he is. Then [we'll see] his realization of what he’s become, him finding Alice and being redeemed by love.”
In Eclipse, the Cullen family needs a leader and Jasper steps up to the plate to deliver the fighting techniques they’ll need to defeat Victoria’s army of blood thirsty newborns. Rathbone is given more substance to work with in the coming films and says that fans will get to see Jasper work his emotion calming magic in a school scene in New Moon. Jasper happens to be the character I like most and I’m looking forward to Jackson having more scenes in the next two flicks.
Read more of Rathbone’s MTV interview here. Can’t wait for November!

Kristen Stewart Interview with Dark Horizons
Written by Violet on August 10, 2009 – 9:50 pm -Kristen Stewart opened up to Dark Horizons.com at San Diego Comic Con about her role as Bella in ‘New Moon’ and her upcoming flick ‘The Runaways’ where she plays Joan Jett. Talking about Bella’s emotional development Stewart said:
“I think she grows up light years in this one; there’s something to be said about the way she behaved herself in the first. It takes an extremely assured – more than that – really, a strong presence of a person, to throw yourself into a world that you have no – absolutely no sense of, like, what it might be like. But to just trust whatever gut feeling pushed you into that. But what I really liked about the second one is that – I was saying this before. I feel stupid repeating myself. But, to know yourself for real – I think you probably would have to go through more of a range of emotion than she had gone through at that point in her life. So, to commit to someone like that – to have it taken away, and then have to snap back – I mean, now I actually think that it’s not – I’m not looking at a kid who’s sort of immaturely but impressively going for something. Now you’re like, “Okay, this young lady, this woman, might be actually getting to know herself, and doing the right thing.” She definitely grows. I mean, she definitely matures.”
Stewart has really connected to Bella in a way that she hasn’t seemed to in the past. Maybe it’s that the character has more emotional depth in the rest of the books and films or perhaps she is becoming more comfortable playing a character that has such a huge fan base that scrutinizes her every move. Read the rest of the interview at DarkHorizons.com and hear her thoughts on Taylor Lautner and what a good friend he’s become to her.
