Shay Mitchell was in Washington DC to help kick off the Anti-Bullying Alliance ‘Be A Star’ launched by The Creative Coalition, A-List celebs and WWE at The Washington Club on Friday night.

The Pretty Little Liars star knows first hand how tough being bullied can be. She shared with Teen Vogue her experience with some mean girls at school.

“Girls who used to be my friends bullied me. Instead of eating lunch in the cafeteria, I’d find the quietest place at school and eat by myself,” she remembers.

“I realized that bullying never has to do with you. It’s the bully who’s insecure,” she says. “So I went back to the cafeteria and sat myself down, and when the girls walked by, I just smiled like they didn’t bother me!”

Actor Darren Criss, best known for playing an openly gay student, Blaine Anderson, on GLEE, quickly become an emerging gay icon, landing a photo spread and interview on the latest issue of OUT Magazine.

In the interview, the 24 year-old wants to set the record straight – Darren is not gay! However, he feels it’s empowering for a straight man to be able to play a homosexual character in a hit show like GLEE. Here are the highlights:

On being part of Glee: “The coolest part is not that it’s a hit show — that’s a bonus — and, of course, that I have a job. But the real cool thing is I was inadvertently raised by the gay community.”

On his character, Blaine: “I think it’s more empowering to everybody, including myself, if I’m articulate about identifying myself as a straight male playing a gay character. Ultimately, that’s more powerful for both communities.”

Oh boy! Here we go again! Joe Jonas cannot even go out to walk his pooch with some buddies without being bombarded by some very annoying paparazzi with lots of questions. The most popular question is: “Hey, Joe! Are you gay or what?”

Joe is such a nice guy because he actually still answers that type of questions. What the heck? Joe answers, “Not really.” That’s kind of cryptic. Joe adds, “Sorry, buddy. No.” That’s better, but not even Joe, who has quite a heartbreaker reputation, sounds like he is convinced… and that is why paps will keep asking!

Lucy Hale and Shay Mitchell represented Pretty Little Liars for the 2011 Disney ABC Television Group’s TCA Winter Press Tour in Pasedena, California on Monday January 10th.

At the press conference for the show, it was announced that PLL has been renewed for a second season on ABC Family. Mitchell also spoke to the press about how honored she is to represent gay teens in a positive light, now that her character Emily has come out to her parents in the premiere episode. Mitchell said:

“If I can represent the gay community in a small way then I’m so honored and I couldn’t be more proud to do that.” She also says she has received an incredible response from fans, boys and girls, all over the world thanks to Twitter saying Emily coming out to her parents in the premiere has inspired them.

All of these young men committed suicide within the past few weeks because they were bullied for being gay. These teenagers were the targets of constant harassment and verbal and physical abuse and felt truly alone in the world with nowhere to turn.

The Trevor Project is the nationwide hotline for gay and questioning teens in crisis and hopes to get the word out that even in the days someone might feel at their lowest, darkest point – someone is there to hear you and help you. “It Gets Better” is the Public Service Announcement that many celebrities including The Vampire Diaries stars Ian Somerhalder, Candice Accola and Katerina Graham take part in to spread the word – someone is listening.

One of the most anticipated plot lines for Glee’s second season is Kurt’s (played by Chris Colfer) boyfriend. When Chord Overstreet was cast as a new football player for McKinley High, the rumor mill kicked into high gear – the plot was supposedly to have Overstreet’s Sam as Kurt’s boyfriend and the two would be Homecoming King and King. That looks more and more unlikely as Colfer has told press that there is no romance for the duo in the first four episodes.

EW is reporting that Darren Criss is joining the show as Blaine, a rival show choir member and strike up a friendship with Kurt. However, the word is this is just a friendship for now, but it could, maybe, possibly, somewhere in the future be the couple everyone is hoping for.

Show creator Ryan Murphy is stringing us along but I can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Daniel Radcliffe lands on the cover of Out magazine. The Harry Potter actor is truly committed to his work with The Trevor Project and talks with Out about his passion for the organization:

“When I got to have a tour of the New York [Trevor Project] call center, my admiration for the project, but also for the place and the people, tripled. The systems they have in place, the actual way the call center works on a practical level, is so brilliant and efficient. It’s something I’m very proud to be able to be involved with.”

Radcliffe is heading back to New York City for the Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying but there is something Daniel says he has to try for success at: dating!

“I was in a relationship with somebody for just about three years, and we broke up just shortly before we hit that mark. But [the breakup] was very amicable. At the moment, I’m just being single and running around chasing girls. (Laughs) I’m not getting too many responses, but, yes, I’m having a go. I’m also starting to go on dates for the first time. I’ve never really done it because all my girlfriends that I’ve ever met, I’ve met through work. So we got to know each other really well at work and then kind of ended up going out.”

He has a great attitude and is so open I’m sure he’ll have quite a few girls chasing him now that everyone knows he’s single.

This is probably one of the most ridiculous idea ever! Director Randal Kleiser would love to have teen superstars Zac Efron and Taylor Lautner star in a gay remake of the classic “Grease”.

Teen girls adore them! Zac and Taylor as gay men in love with each other in the big screen – I can (exclusively) tell you that is never going to happen unless they completely want to destroy their acting career for good.

Taylor Lautner is gay!! At least that is the latest absolutely ridiculous rumor being spread all over the WWW. Our Twilight hunk reportedly attended a party thrown by X-Men director Bryan Singer, who is openly gay, at his home last week. Taylor allegedly spent a few hours there, so that can only mean he is gay too! Right? WRONG!

A source told LimeLife, “Taylor is the new great gay hope. Ricky Martin coming out is about as exciting to the gay community as Larry King posing naked in Playgirl. The mere thought of Taylor Lautner being gay is what gay men everywhere are dreaming about.”

Seriously? I wonder why straight people can’t have gay friends and socialize with them!?! It doesn’t make sense. Taylor is not a gay icon! Please! He is one of the biggest teen icons of our time thanks to the fantastic “Twi-hard” fans!

Actor Daniel Radcliffe is a passionate supporter of The Trevor Project, the national helpline for suicide prevention for LBGTQ (lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender and questioning) youth. Radcliffe was in New York City this week to film a PSA (public service announcement) for the organization.

“I grew up knowing a lot of gay men and it was never something that I even thought twice about — that some men were gay and some weren’t,” the Harry Potter megastar said Friday. “And then I went to school and (for) the first time … I came across homophobia. … I had never encountered it before. It shocked me. I have always hated anybody who is not tolerant of gay men or lesbians or bisexuals,” the British actor added. “Now I am in the very fortunate position where I can actually help or do something about it.”

The Trevor Project has supporters such as Ellen DeGeneres and Neil Patrick Harris and Radcliffe’s commercial will air this spring.
