The expectations for The Runaways movie premiering at the Sundance Film Festival next Sunday (January 24th) is very high. The movie stars Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie and Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, two teenagers in the 70’s who formed the all girl rock group that is still influential to this day.

Fanning’s portrayal of Currie is gaining lots of buzz - the young girl everyone watched as a child will take a bite out of adult stardom with this performance and solidify her transition away from kiddie parts and into the realm that many younger actors find elusive.

“I’m just portraying what was going on with [Cherie] when she was my age,” Fanning said. “I want to continue to act for my whole life. Eventually, everyone will have to let me grow up, somehow, some way. I’m just trying to let that happen as naturally as I can.”

She and Stewart have a great friendship thanks in part to this film (and of course, the Twilight films) and Fanning says that will show on screen. The make-out scene between the two characters will definitely get lots of ink.

‘One Less Lonely Girl’ singer Justin Bieber has more than just dominating the music charts on his mind. The Canadian born teenager wants to head to college to expand his horizons.

He doesn’t fill his time playing PlayStation or watching videos of Michael Jackson, one of his influences, on his tour bus. Instead Bieber hits the books. “I have a tutor,” he says. “I want to go to college. As Asher Roth says, I think college would be a blast.” And a prospective major? “I’m good at English,” he says. “I like to write.”

The Twilight Saga’s second film, New Moon, has been promoted as having more action and fighting than the first, giving it more appeal to guys. Actor Robert Pattinson feels it shouldn’t matter - a good storyline is something that both sexes should find watchable.

“I keep being told by people that I need to pump up all the stuff about the action and all this stuff for the guys to go and see it,” Pattinson says. “It’s ridiculous. It’s like saying guys can’t appreciate romance. I don’t think that you can say that about GONE WITH THE WIND or something. I’ve watched TITANIC and I didn’t think, ‘Oh, this is a girl’s film.’ Unless you’re a complete idiot of a guy, I don’t really think … and especially in NEW MOON and in the whole series I’ve never played it as if I’m playing a series of girl’s films, doing something just for girls.”

For the November issue of Teen Vogue, models Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn were chosen to be the beautiful faces on the cover. What’s particularly unique about this? The two teens are the most successful black models going right now and in a time when fashion editorials, photo shoots and runways are almost entirely white, it says something that these two young ladies grab a cover. In the accompanying article, the teenagers do admit to struggling to get along with each other.

“It’s competition,” Jourdan told Teen Vogue. “There aren’t a lot of us, but instead of sticking together, we’re pitted against each other. People will say things in Chanel’s ear like, ‘Jourdan is taking your spot’, and then they’ll say to me, ‘Don’t trust Chanel’.”

The problem they face? There’s there’s only room for one black girl – apparently. “You’re being told, ‘So and so is only booking one black girl. It’s either you or Jourdan’,” said Chanel.

For now they have other projects: Chanel is working with Victoria’s Secret and Jourdan is pregnant but still doing the catwalk for designers like Jean Paul Gautlier. Check out more of the interview with the two teen stars here.

Jordin Sparks takes being a role model seriously. The American Idol season 6 winner has recently posed for the ‘Drink Milk for a Change’ campaign, focusing on getting teens to make better choices for a healthy alternative to soda. Next up: the singer is part of “America’s Biggest Sleepover” project from BeingGirl.com to foster self-esteem in adolescent and teen girls all over the country.

Tell us about your decision to do Being Girl.

They asked me about it a while ago and I needed to see what was all about first. I saw BeingGirl, logged on, and thought, “This is so cool.” It’s an internet community for girls, by girls. The thing is a girl can log on from New York and talk to someone in Seattle about her issues- boy problems, puberty, whatever she is going through. Sometimes your friends aren’t always there when you need them. I just thought it was the greatest thing. I saw “Sleepover” and I love sleepovers - I was really excited to be a part of that as well. For every girl that registers $1 is being donated to the foundation called Protecting Futures. It’s a foundation that’s all about keeping girls in school. They hit me with a 1-2-3 punch.

Sparks truly takes it to heart her responsibility to all the girls who look up to her.

InStyle Magazine is reporting that The Jonas Brothers singer spent time at the Aromachology pop up store in Toronto and whipped up a one-of-a-kind mix for somebody special.

“…a new custom fragrance line based on personality. To select the top-notes, Jonas picked three words that best described his lady: creative, courageous, and sexy. Also? He signed the card “With Love.” We’re not sure who the lucky recipient was, but we’re seriously considering mixing our own scent online now.”

Vanessa Hudgens and Hayden Panettiere are spokesmodels for Neutrogena and turned up Saturday afternoon at Neutrogena Fresh Faces of Music at Jim Henson Studios in Hollywood. The event was held to benefit VH1’s Save The Music Foundation and singer Jordan Pruitt performed for the crowd. The Heroes and Sucker Punch actresses looked lovely in coordinating beige/nude colored dresses.

Disney star Miley Cyrus is clearly trying to distance herself from the good girl Hannah Montana image but she has done a lot of mistakes along the way. The majority of those mistakes that quickly turned into scandals are the result of lack of guidance from her parents.

Stunning actress Aimee Teegarden is set to star in Beautiful Waves a surfing coming of age film. Patricia Richardson from tv’s Home Improvement and City Slicker’s Helen Slater co-star with the Friday Night Lights break out star.

“Wave” centers on a teenager (Teegarden) who goes to live with her grandmother (Richardson) in Santa Cruz, Calif., one summer and discovers the sport of surfing — and a family secret as well. Stuart Cameron is producing; Teegarden will make her producing debut as associate producer.

Could be similar to Blue Crush a few years ago with Kate Bosworth but any girl-surfing flick is good in my book.
