Daniel Radcliffe Not Happy With His Half-Blood Performance

Written by Gossip Gal on August 23, 2010 – 12:04 pm -

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, who recently celebrated his 21st birthday in style, is his very own first critic and he was not thrilled with his performance in the latest movie, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”.

Daniel admitted he worked extra hard for the two final parts of the Harry Potter series – “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” Part I and Part II – to not disappoint the fans. I don’t think Daniel could ever disappoint us!

Daniel said, “I wasn’t entirely thrilled with my performance in Half-Blood – I found it quite same-y, and didn’t think there was enough variation in it – so I’ve worked hard to make sure that if the seventh film comes out and I’m still unhappy with it, I’ll know it won’t be from lack of trying.”

WOW! That is quite a grown up attitude. Daniel is not afraid to admit a failure, but is also strong enough to turn it into a success. We love Daniel and we believe he will become one of the greatest actors of the new generation.

Emma Watson Confirms Brown University For Fall

Written by Violet on July 18, 2009 – 5:18 pm -

‘Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince’  is out in theaters and now Emma Watson is finally putting to rest where she will be studying in the fall. Brown University has gotten the honor of having the Hermoine Granger actress and the girl who loves to read.

Paste: You are off to University in the autumn.

Watson:I am—to Brown, which is an Ivy League establishment in the U.S.A. I’ve got a place there to read literature.

[...]

Paste: And was that also an equally deliberate choice, to step out of the limelight for a while?

Watson: It’s not so much that, no, I’m not trying to hide or anything like that. It sounds so geeky, but I really do like studying and reading, and if I’m not working on Harry Potter, then my greatest relaxation is to sit with a book. That’s how I escape stress—in literature. I always have several books on the go at any one moment, so it’s no good you asking “What’s on the bedside table at the moment, Emma?” because often I can’t even see the table! I think that all that reading is just about the only similarity I have with Hermione, if you ask me.

Emma is coming to the United States to study and will be returning to England to film the last two installments of the Harry Potter franchise. Hopefully the adjustment will be smooth for her and she will be able to study in relative peace.

Emma Watson On David Letterman

Written by Violet on July 10, 2009 – 9:16 pm -

Charming Emma Watson appeared on David Letterman earlier this week to promote her film, Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince. During her interview with Dave, he mentioned the London premiere where she accidentally flashed everyone while adjusting her vintage 1970s dress due to the rain. She also confirmed that she is going to be attending college in the US in the fall, but has not said where she is going. Daniel Radcliffe supposedly let it slip that Brown University will be where her academic future lies.

‘Harry Potter’ Cover of Entertainment Weekly

Written by Violet on July 10, 2009 – 8:41 pm -

Harry Potter mania is in full swing once again as the sixth film, Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince is finally headed to theaters after a very long wait between The Order Of The Phoenix and this one. Since this is the last film to take place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, the actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are glad to be done with the maroon and gold of Gryffindor House uniform:

“I was like ‘Burn it!’ Oh my god, to be done with those shoes and that uniform — that was an exciting day,” says Watson. Radcliffe adds, “When you’re 18, one of the worst things to be wearing while trying to chat up a girl on the set is a school uniform. You look like a kid! You’re not going to score dressed like that!”

Looking forward to the film – how about you?

Daniel Radcliffe Interview with LA Times

Written by Violet on July 5, 2009 – 9:00 pm -

Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince opens in theaters on July 15th and the cast is doing lots and lots of interviews to promote the sixth installment of the series. Daniel Radcliffe recently did this interview with the Los Angeles Times and while taking the journalist on a walk thru the magnificent sets in England, he shared some interesting stories about the many talented actors he has been fortunate enough to work with thru the years:

Several generations of the best from British and Irish stage and cinema have passed through the franchise, such as Maggie Smith, Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon, Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson and the late Richard Harris, and Radcliffe tried to learn something from each of them.

Asked for an example, he points out that Richard Griffiths, who plays Harry’s sour uncle, was raised by deaf parents and, attuned to nonverbal expression, approaches his work with a more internal strategy than most actors. He first learns what his character is thinking in each scene as opposed to what he is saying.

Griffiths also once advised Radcliffe to never let the camera catch him when he wasn’t thinking because the void would be read in his eyes; the veteran prefaced that counsel by saying it was told to him by Lee Marvin, who heard it from Spencer Tracy.

“Just think,” Radcliffe said, “how many young people get access to that sort of advice and that sort of history?”

Gary Oldman is another legendary talent that Radcliffe has been fortunate enough to spend time with and learn from. The duo share a passion for music and Oldman helped Dan become a better bass guitar player. Radcliffe also mentioned some of his favorite bands: The Arctic Monkeys and The Libertines.

I really enjoy watching Daniel as he grows as an actor and look forward to what he will do after HP. It must be a huge challenge for him to walk away from the character that we have all come to know him as, and he identifies with a bit. Radcliffe along with his co-stars, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson will be everywhere in the next few weeks as the sixth movie opens and I for one, can’t wait to see more of them.

Rupert Grint Ponders His Future Past Harry Potter

Written by Violet on June 28, 2009 – 2:17 pm -

It is difficult for any child actor to make the transition to adult actor and to be taken seriously in a role other than the one that made them famous. Add to that, the cultural impression a series of movies as large as ‘Harry Potter’  has had on us all and it’s a formidable task to undertake. That is the crossroads where Rupert Grint finds himself career-wise, as the HP series begins to film the final installment.

“It’s always at the back of my mind that acting might come to an end for me when Harry Potter finishes. I don’t know if I’m good enough to have a long career. I’ve got a bit of an inferiority complex about my acting. My self-esteem is quite low in that sense.”

For now Grint is intent on having some fun with his toys: he owns an ice-cream truck and hovercraft among other gadgets, but he does seem to want a future in movies.

“From here on, I don’t want to play it safe. I need to take on roles that are as far away from Harry Potter as it’s possible to get. If I’m to continue as an actor, I need to play characters that are nothing like me at all.”

I love watching Grint and can’t wait to see his last film ‘Cherrybomb.’  I hope he is able to distance himself from the Ron Weasley character in the way that Daniel Radcliffe is working on doing with Harry Potter. Emma Watson just doesn’t feel as passionately about acting as the other two but if she does try to continue on, she will need to do the same thing and take on roles that do not remind the audience of Hermione Granger. I for one, am rooting for them all!
