Amanda Seyfried Gets Her Little Red Riding Hood On

Written by Violet on November 14, 2010 – 9:31 pm -

Imagine Little Red Riding Hood: a young woman walking through the hushed snowy woods wearing a bright red cape, she hears every sound and imagines the worst; looking over her shoulder terrified by what is out there, following her. A story more for grown-ups than for children, the photo above sets the mood for the new telling of a very old tale.

Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is taking on the classic Brothers Grimm folktale and giving it a gothic/horror twist with werewolves, demons and Amanda Seyfried as Valerie, the title character, torn between two suitors. Hardwicke gives Seyfried lots of praise:

”I’ve never seen her like this in a role before,” raves director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight). ”She’s supersexy, wild. And those big eyes of hers are totally out of a fairy tale.”

I love this image – can’t wait for more. I am very excited to see what kind of energy and pulse this cast create: Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas and the almost Edward Cullen: Shiloh Fernandez.

The movie, now titled Red Riding Hood (it was originally The Girl with the Red Riding Hood) is set for March 2011 release.

Emma Roberts ‘Scream 4′ Is “Going To Be Really Fun”

Written by Violet on September 27, 2010 – 8:08 am -

Emma Roberts is excited for movie goers to catch the Scream 4 when it hits theaters on April 15, 2011. The actress feels this film is better than the 90s super popular trilogy. Roberts says:

“It’s going to be really fun. I think that this is the best one, dare I say. It’s amazing because they have the original cast—Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Neve Campbell—and then we have this whole new young cast we’re introducing that’s, to name a few, me, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin who I’ve done a few movies with, which is great, and Wes Craven’s directing this one, and he’s just one of the coolest people I’ve ever met.”

Unfortunately the plot is being kept super secret but we do know Roberts is playing Jill, the cousin to (Campbell’s) reporter Sydney. In addition to Roberts and Panettiere, Lucy Hale, Shenae Grimes and Aimee Teegarden are part of the huge ensemble cast.

Are you excited for another Scream movie?

Steven R. McQueen Talks Family, Vampires And Piranhas

Written by Violet on August 23, 2010 – 8:30 pm -

Charming Steven R. McQueen has been making the rounds promoting his latest movie Piranha 3D and chatting about his role on the hit TV show The Vampire Diaries. The actor spoke to CNN about his legendary grandfather, actor Steve McQueen and how he got into the family business, how he enjoys playing the outsider, like Jeremy on TVD and how much fun Piranha 3D is (“somewhere between Snakes on a Plane and Jaws.”) Check it below.

Steven R McQueen & Jessica Szohr Piranha 3D Premiere Photos

Written by Violet on August 20, 2010 – 6:29 am -

The summer horror flick that is getting all the buzz right now, Piranha 3D, had it’s red carpet premiere at Mann’s Chinese 6 Theater in Los Angeles this week. Steven R McQueen and Jessica Szohr costar in the film directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes) and were on hand Wednesday night for the Hollywood showing. Szohr is happy about the movie but has mixed feelings about all the gory details in 3D:

“With the 3D on top of all the blood and boobs, I’m nervous to see it because I think, how much more can you add to all this craziness? But I think it will be amazing,” she said. “We had so much fun working on it and people will have so much fun watching it.”

The film is apparently very bloody and over-the-top in it’s gore factor but unlike Aja’s other darker films, this one has a sense of humor to it (costar Jerry O’Connell has an already infamous scene where his private parts float by – in 3D – on screen!)

Piranha opens Friday August 20th (today!) Who’s going to see it?

‘Detention’ Nails Josh Hutcherson

Written by Violet on August 4, 2010 – 10:30 pm -

Josh Hutcherson has been a bad boy. He’s getting Detention.

In this case, it’s actually a good thing. The actor is adding producer to his resume with Detention; a teen comedy/horror flick that will see Hutcherson star in as well as produce. What’s the big D all about? Surviving the last year of high school and not getting killed of course!

Filming starts next month in LA and then the Kentucky Colonel (yes, he is an honorary Colonel) heads off to to film the second Journey to the Center of the Earth in October.

Daniel Radcliffe’s New Horizons

Written by Violet on July 30, 2010 – 7:48 pm -

Gaining acceptance in roles other than as Harry Potter is something that is clearly on Daniel Radcliffe’s mind at the moment. The just turned 21 year old has spent a decade as one of the most recognized literary-turned-big-screen wizards in the world wide phenomenon created by author J.K. Rowling and brought to film by Warner Bros. Feeling adrift after filming ended, the talented actor is keeping busy to ward off getting the blues:

“Working is how I will best get through a very weird time,” Radcliffe said. “I know it’s the most constructive thing I can do because otherwise I’d be moping around and being a bit like, ‘Oh, I miss everyone … ’ So I’m quite pleased to go on to the next thing and the next challenge.”

Thankfully for Radcliffe, he has a lot of great projects lined up for quite a while. A return to the stage for the Broadway revival of the musical How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying is his first theater gig post HP.

He is also signed on for three flicks: a gothic Victorian horror/suspense film The Woman In Black; a modern version of the classic All Quiet on the Western Front and The Journey Is The Destination - the story of Dan Eldon, the young British photojournalist who was killed in Mogadishu covering the civil war and devastating famine of Somalia in 1993.

Radcliffe has signed on to a diverse set of material that should transition him into older roles and keep him from being typecast. I am particularly interested in the Eldon movie. It is an amazing story of a young man who was just reaching his potential when his life was cut short.

I absolutely enjoy everything in the Harry Potter universe, but I hope to see more of Radcliffe and his talented costars Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright and Tom Felton in the future.

Emma Roberts Joins Hayden Panettiere For ‘Scream 4′

Written by Violet on May 31, 2010 – 8:57 pm -

A new generation of Scream movies are ready to be made and Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere are hopping on board for the mayhem.

Scream 4 which will be written by Kevin Williamson (writer for the original Scream movies and TV’s The Vampire Diaries) is back along with director Wes Craven. Courtney Cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell will all return to give continuity to the series and “pass the baton” to the young actors.

Roberts character will be Jill, who is related to Campbell’s Sidney Prescott. The plot is super secret, hush hush right now and is slated to begin filming in Ann Arbor, Michigan at the end of June.

Ashley Greene was rumored to be up for the role of Jill but now it seems, she will not be involved in the movie at all.

See more pics of Emma from the Sex and The City 2 movie premiere that was held in London.

Written by Violet on April 25, 2010 – 2:34 pm -

Amanda Seyfried’s latest film, the gothic thriller The Girl with the Red Riding Hood, has found it’s leading man. Actor Shiloh Fernandez is set to play Peter, the woodcutter that Seyfried’s character falls for. Catherine Hardwicke, director of the first Twilight movie, is setting the stage for the werewolf tale that reinterprets the classic fairytale.

Fernandez, who also has a part in Ashley Greene’s Skateland, (click here for a peek) was one of the final four actors Hardwicke had in mind for Edward Cullen.

Filming heads to Vancouver in July and the movie is due in spring of 2011.
