JoJo wrote, “(…) I’m so thrilled to present some new music to you! As confused as I am about the current situation with the actual album, I can only imagine how confused you must be too. I often speak vaguely about what’s going on because I want to take the high road and not throw anyone under the bus. As tempting as it is to go public with every single detail, I’m trying to stay professional.

But, my fans have been waiting way too long and at the end of the day- I’m a singer! A songwriter! An artist! It pains me not to be sharing what I love with those who want to receive it. It’s a really crazy thing when your career, your livelihood, and the thing you love the most is out of your hands.

In releasing this mixtape, Im affirming that even though some have tried they CANT TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME. What is THAT? My voice, my spirit, my drive, my dreams. Singer Joanna Levesque aka JoJo is finally back with a much-anticipated new song “In the Dark” out of a mixtape titled “Can’t Take That Away From Me”, which will be released on September 7. The 19 year-old also promises to launch her new album “All I Want Is Everything” next year.

“This mixtape is more experimental,” JoJo tells Rap-Up.com. “I was able to explore the full spectrum of things that interest me and inspire me musically. Whereas the album, I wanted to make pop records and radio hits and things that satisfy me, but particularly for [All I Want Is Everything], it’s more of a continuous body of work. The mixtape, I was able to do some things that were more soulful, incorporate live instruments, and say things that I wouldn’t normally say on an album. I was just able to take more of a risk. It is all over the place, just like me.”

We love “In The Dark”. It’s a more mature sound and can’t be compared to her previous work. The “Leave (Get Out)” singer says of her new song, “I think ‘In the Dark’ is different than anything people have heard from me before. It’s a very sensual record and there’s an undertone of sadness to it.”

Singer Joanna Levesque aka JoJo, who has been busy writing for herself and other artists, is finally ready to take action and leave her record company that won’t let her out of her contract or record a new album either.

JoJo filed a lawsuit against Da Family Entertainment and wants to cancel her contract and at least $500,000 for her troubles. They are clearly holding her back and possibly ruining her career. Free JoJo!!
