Hilary Duff, best known as the squeaky clean Disney teen Lizzie McGuire, is branching out – into teen writing. The actress is set to pen a series of young adult novels, starting with Elixir; due in October of 2010. The novels have photojournalist Clea Raymond as the heroine who uncovers mystery, danger and romance while globe trotting.

Says Duff, “I’ve always loved the escape of a great book, especially one that features a strong, inspiring female character you feel you really understand, someone who could be you, but living a more fascinating life. I’m hoping Elixir will be that kind of book-a novel that will transport readers and open new worlds for them.”

Duff is working on a non-fiction tome too. Stories from children of divorced parents and the obstacles they overcome will be the focus of her other work, to be published in 2012.

Working in New York City, actress Hilary Duff was busy filming for her upcoming guest appearance on the CW hit show, Gossip Girl. The actress will play Jessica Szohr’s college roommate.

The first pics are showing up for Hilary Duff’s fashion collaboration with DKNY. The line called Femme for DKNY Jeans features Duff and models Grace Carvalho and Sophie Srej. The ads for fall will be in Teen Vogue and Seventeen, among other magazines. Skinny jeans, fringe, leggings, handbags and accessories will all be available starting next month. When CW’s ‘Gossip Girl’  returns to television in the fall, it will have a new yet familiar face joining the Upper East Side privledged kids. Hilary Duff (the original Miley Cyrus) will have a role as a college roommate of Jessica Szohr’s character, Vanessa. October 4th marks Duff’s debut. Who’s gonna watch Lizzie McGuire on GG?
