Miley Cyrus is next month’s Marie Claire cover girl and inside the pages of the ‘zine, the 19-year-old former Disney star opens up about the nitty-gritty of getting engaged, co-parenting and planning a future with fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

Life is too short not to be with the person you want to be with… I don’t really care about the wedding or the piece of paper as much as I do the promise we’ve made to each other. And we want to have a long engagement.

We totally support that decision Miley.  You are only 19 – it might be nice to be able to legally take part in the champagne toast at your own ceremony!

Speaking of engagements – Miley says that the 19th-century, 18-karat gold Neil Lane engagement ring Liam chose for her is absolutely perfect.

I saw something like it online at one point and thought it was really pretty, but I usually wear rose gold… I just love that it’s old and has a story. And I’m happy because it doesn’t look like anything else I wear.

Miley also chatted about the struggles of co-parenting with Liam – co-parent their dogs, of course!  Jeez!  Don’t you think we’d have mentioned it by now if these two had a kid together!

[Ziggy] doesn’t listen to me. She’s in love with Liam… She loves me when he’s gone, but she totally ate my diamonds on purpose. She was pooping them out all morning!

Miley Cyrus Hits The Bong, Caught Smoking Salvia

The 18 year-old talks for the first time about the bong scandal and confessed that she really regrets being caught smoking salvia because she feels like she disappointed her fans.

The Hannah Montana star believes people are too hard on her and should not judge her. Miley is still a teenager – she has the right to make mistakes, but it doesn’t mean she will become the next Lindsay Lohan.

Here are some highlights from Miley Cyrus’ Marie Claire interview:

On her salvia bong scandal: “I’m not perfect … I made a mistake. I’m disappointed in myself for disappointing my fans. But they’re [critics] not Miley Cyrus … They’re not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for.”

On her relationship with Avan Jogia: “If you look at the picture, I’m turned away, and he’s kissing me on the cheek. It’s very hilarious to me that people say, ‘They’re making out.’ In making out, there’s a tongue.”

On on-screen mom Demi Moore: “It really felt like Demi was my mom a little bit because we had such great conversations, and I feel like it shows on-screen. I can’t wait for LOL to come out. It’s what I’m most proud of.”

On the year of 2011: “Spread love and change the world in 2011.”
