Monte Carlo starring Selena Gomez has a new release date. The film’s opening date of February 11th has changed to July 1st, 2011.

The reason for the switch is perhaps the competition in February – Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never is set for the Valentine’s Day weekend market and Sel’s Carlo costar Leighton Meester, has The Roommate out the week before February 4th. Both of those films will draw heavily from the same crowd of moviegoers. The date in July pits it against Transformers: Dark of the Moon – a much different fan base.

Katie Cassidy and Cory Monteith costar in the romantic comedy about three girls on vacation in Paris who head to Monte Carlo after being mistaken for an heiress and find themselves at the center of attention.

Leighton Meester is costarring with Garrett Hedlund, Tim McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow in the December 22nd release Country Strong. The newly released poster focuses on the four stars of the relationship drama film with country music theme. Here is the official synopsis:

Soon after a rising young singer-songwriter (Hedlund) gets involved with a fallen, emotionally unstable country star (Paltrow), the pair embarks on a career resurrection tour helmed by her husband/manager (McGraw) and featuring a beauty-queen-turned-singer (Meester). Between concerts, romantic entanglements and old demons threaten to derail them all.

Leighton will be in a number of films at the beginning of 2011. First up on February 4th is The Roommate with Cam Gigandet, Aly Michalka and Katerina Graham. The following weekend is Monte Carlo with Selena Gomez, Katie Cassidy and Cory Monteith. She then hits the big screen with Hugh Laurie in The Oranges.

In Meester’s immediate future is the return of Taylor Momsen to Gossip Girl on the Monday October 25th episode “Easy J.” Momsen’s Jenny returns for a chance to meet Project Runway’s Tim Gunn (guest starring as himself) and Blair is not happy to see Little J back in Manhattan.

She’s one of the most fashionable young actresses so it makes sense for Leighton Meester to consider designing her own line of clothing and accessories.

“The more I think about it the more it sounds like something I would want to do,” she tells us. “I don’t know if it’d be any time soon but I’d really like to work on a collaboration with somebody – I always have ideas for stuff like that. The problem is I always have so much admiration for so many designers and for so many different styles, it’d difficult to hone in on just one look but why not?”

Counting Audrey Hepburn, Helen Mirren and Cate Blanchett as women whose style sense she admires, Meester looks at each for inspiration.

The Gossip Girl actress has a number of films coming out next year: Country Strong with Gwyneth Paltrow, The Oranges with Hugh Laurie, The Roommate with Minka Kelly and Monte Carlo with Selena Gomez so she will have to squeeze in a fashion collaboration but she would have a great point of view to work from.

Selena Gomez was simply stunning at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The shimmering Reem Acra Resort strapless gown (with very cute jeweled sweetheart neckline) was a stand out at the ceremony in Los Angeles. (I love the chunky ring she had on too.)

Gomez is prepping for her second album A Year Without Rain which releases on September 21st.

Cory Monteith stepped out to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night. The Glee star ran into his TV show costars Amber Riley and Jane Lynch at the ceremony in Los Angeles.

The cast is currently at work on an upcoming tribute episode to The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Awesome – can’t wait for that.

A rosy pink dress and a cheery smile accompany Leighton Meester on the cover of Cosmo UK September 2010 issue. The Gossip Girl actress gives up the details of her life compared to her GG character Blair Waldorf:

• On playing a mean character: “I am living my dream and having the time of my life! I’m lucky because I get to do that all day long and play a character who has a lot of noble qualities as well. I am really lucky she is such a well-written character.”
• On whether people expect she will be like Blair in real life: “Most people just run away, so perhaps that’s what they’re thinking! I think for the most part people understand that it’s just a character.”
• On whether her high school experience was similar to Gossip Girl: “The complete opposite, to be honest. I had lived in NYC before but not in the Upper East Side – it was in the Upper West Side, which was very different. When I was a teenager I was in a public high school. I certainly was not popular by any means, and I didn’t have a car or a lot of money, so it was very different.”

Leighton is hard at work in New York on Gossip Girl and she has lots of movies due out next year (see the full list here.)

Australian magazine Girlfriend also gets the Meester touch this month. So much Meester magazine love, so little time.

Australian magazine Girlfriend nabbed Leighton Meester for the cover of the August 2010 edition.  For the issue, Meester gave the mag some of her personal philosophies on how to be your happiest:

Be Natural: “I never wear make-up when I’m not at work. It can make you forget what you look like, and I’ve grown to really love the way I look without it.”

Have Priorities: “I’ve never been crazy. I’m a very good girl, to be honest. I don’t do anything to hurt anyone. Honestly, all I ever do is work. ”

Resist the Pressure: “I am this way and that’s it. I’ve never been under pressure to lose weight – if I want to eat chocolate, I will.”

She’s certainly right about her work ethic. The actress, who just wrapped filming the movie Monte Carlo with Selena Gomez and Cory Monteith, is currently working in New York on the new season of her hit TV show Gossip Girl. She has a ton of big screen projects for release next year, including The Roommate with Cam Gigandet (my personal fave ex-vampire) and The Oranges with Hugh Laurie.

K-Mart stores all over the nation got the first shipment of Selena Gomez’s new line of clothing Dream Out Loud. The Disney sweetheart announced on her twitter today:

“Dream Out Loud is out today in K-Mart stores across America. I will [be] checking out some of the stores in the Los Angeles area. Let me know what you guys think. I hope you like it.”

Selena also posted this behind the scenes look at the Dream commercial shoot.

Selena Gomez is back in the US and filming on Monte Carlo has ended. The actress posted the photo and said:

“Can’t wait for you to see Monte Carlo! We all worked so hard, hope yall like it!”

Selena Gomez and The Scene’s sophomore effort has an official name: A Year Without Rain. The new album including the first single “Round and Round,” is due September 28th.
