‘Glee’ Star Cory Monteith On Parade Magazine
Written by Violet on June 26, 2011 – 4:39 pm -he plays Finn, the naive (and sometimes dim) football player on Glee, Cory Monteith‘s real-life past might be closer to Puck’s rebellious ways.
Monteith tells Parade magazine he was in a world of trouble as a young teen addict and drop out.
“I burned a lot of bridges,” he says. “I was out of control.”
At that point, so was his drug use. Monteith admits, “Anything and everything, as much as possible,” he says. “I had a serious problem.”
After a couple of tries at rehab, Cory, now 29, confesses that he did what many addicts do to loved ones: steal from them.
“I stole a significant amount of money from a family member,” he admits. “I knew I was going to get caught, but I was so desperate I didn’t care. It was a cry for help. I was confronted and I said, ‘Yeah, it was me.’ It was the first honorable, truthful thing that had come out of my mouth in years.”
This time, he was truly serious about recovery and knew he had to change. Monteith says although he’s a private person, he wants others to understand even though he’s successful now, it was a long hard road to get there.
“I don’t want kids to think it’s okay to drop out of school and get high, and they’ll be famous actors, too. … But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it. If I can, anyone can.”

Hailee Steinfeld Covers Parade Magazine (Photos)
Written by Gossip Gal on February 28, 2011 – 9:25 pm -14 year-old Hailee Steinfeld looks impossibly cute in the cover photo shoot of the upcoming issue of Parade Magazine. Hailee became one of the youngest actresses to be nominated for an Academy Award.
Ironically, Jodie Foster (“Taxi Driver” in 1976) and Hailee (“True Grit”) were only 14 when they were distinguished with an Oscar nomination and they both lost. Now Jodie is one of the best actresses in Hollywood. Hailee has a bright future ahead.
Love Triangle: Hailee Steinfeld, Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez (POLL)
In the interview, Hailee revealed how she just decided she would take acting classes instead of trying out another sport and who inspired her to become an actress. Hailee confessed to be startruck most of the time and tells how she learned she was nominated for an Oscar.
Here are some highlights from Hailee Steinfeld’s Parade interview:
On her career: “My parents have always told me, ‘The day you stop loving what you do, you’re not in the right place. As long as I’m loving it as much as I am now, I see myself doing this forever.’”
On her inspirations to become an actress: “I tried every sport and never stuck with anything.” So when, at 8, she declared she was interested in acting, her mother insisted she take classes for a year first. “I was like, ‘All right, I’ll do this to show you.’ Paper Moon with Tatum O’Neal was one of the first [movies] that stood out to me. Her role in that was a bit of my inspiration for True Grit—she was so independent.””
On the morning she learned of her Oscar nomination: “I was in bed and heard my parents cheering in the other room. I’m surprised my phone didn’t blow up from all the text messages.”
On the events she’s been attending: “I’m definitely going, ‘Oh my God’ left and right. I always get so starstruck. I met [The Social Network’s] Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Armie Hammer at a luncheon. Ahhh! That was a good day.”

Taylor Swift Parade Magazine Cover & Photos
Written by Violet on October 15, 2010 – 8:05 am -Taylor Swift gets the cover for the Sunday edition (October 24th) of Parade magazine. Swift’s photo shoot for the weekly mag is charming and the singer opens up about love, song apologies, fame and appreciating her friends and happiness in the inteview. Here is a preview of what she has to say:
On her love life.
“Things change so quickly. I have no idea who’s going to be a recurring character and who’s just a guest star for one episode. Love is fascinating. Wishing for it, pining for it, and the anger that comes when you lose it. I used to think that I could figure out some pattern to love, like if you don’t text a guy back for a half hour, he’ll like you more. But there is no pattern. Absolutely nothing is predictable in love or in life.”On the bittersweet mea culpa “Back to December,” from her new album Speak Now.
“Guys get what they deserve in my songs, and if they deserve an apology, they should get one. There was someone who was absolutely wonderful to me and I dropped the ball, and I needed to say all that.”On her own fame.
“I don’t like to feel like I’m some fragile package that has to be shipped by high-priority mail and handled with white gloves.”On dropping in on a journalism class at the University of Kansas, where her best friend from high school is a junior.
“I just kind of walked in and sat down and tried to learn something. Even if you’re happy with the life you’ve chosen, you’re still curious about the other options. Sometimes I will make a glass of iced tea and watch life go by. I chose one road and didn’t choose the other, but I can still see what that one looks like. In the past year I figured out that happiness is what everybody wants more than anything. Now I think if you’re in the middle of your day and you realize you’re just happy in the moment, you should celebrate that.”

Zac Efron Parade Magazine Interview
Written by Violet on July 24, 2010 – 4:35 pm -Zac Efron is Parade magazine’s July 25th cover guy and as the 22 year old is currently in NYC gearing up for Charlie St. Cloud interviews, I thought I’d slip a little Efron excerpt into your day:
What attracted him to such a sobering role.
“Every once in awhile, you read a script and you get that special feeling in your gut. I was touched by what the character, Charlie, goes through, and I thought it was a story worth sharing. And the fact that I have a little brother myself gave it a lot of resonance.”He was studying hard for his Advanced Placement classes just a few short years ago.
“Looking back at that AP stuff now, we probably were the nerds. But that’s okay — they’re always the coolest people.”Still a student at heart.
“I start to think, ‘Am I missing out on something?’ I’m not in school at the moment, so I tend to overcompensate by trying to learn as much as I can about everything else, and by tackling life full-on. I’m just soaking up everything I can. I’d like to see the whole world.”
Transitioning from the ultra popular Disney teen “Troy” in the High School Musical series, Efron has been making some smart moves with the roles he’s choosing. Charlie St. Cloud, which opens in theaters July 30th, sees Efron adding to his dramatic role resume as he did with Me and Orson Wells. He has a lot of future work on his plate with his newly formed production company, Ninjas Runnin’ Wild and Charlie should do well at the box office.
Check out more pics below and tell us – are you planning to see this movie next weekend?

Nick Jonas Buff & Sexy For Parade (Photos)
Written by Gossip Gal on April 16, 2010 – 5:25 pm -Nick Jonas, the first Jonas Brother to go solo, covers the upcoming issue of Parade Magazine. The 17 year-old talks about his romance with Selena Gomez, his brothers and the meaning of his first solo single, “Who I Am”. Here are the highlights:
On his on-off romance with Selena Gomez: “It’s a lot more boring than anyone wants to think.”
On having his brothers to share the spotlight: “We make decisions together—even when we’re doing things individually. Going into my first solo album, it’s good to know that they were excited. There’s been a good vibe from the get-go.”
On “Who I Am”: “That song is about someone loving me for who I am. It’s saying that it’s important for me to be comfortable with myself first. One of the biggest things I think people struggle with, even at my age, is self-confidence—feeling comfortable in their skin and wanting to find someone who loves them for that.”

Miley Cyrus Gorgeous For Parade Magazine
Written by Gossip Gal on March 20, 2010 – 8:05 am -Actress Miley Cyrus, who is currently promoting her new movie “The Last Song”, gave an openly honest and heartfelt interview for the latest issue of Parade Magazine. The 17 year-old talked about the pressure of being in the spotlight, her fans, faith, Lady GaGa, her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth and, once again, the real reason why she left Twitter.
Miley has grown up to be a very sincere and beautiful human being. Of course she makes a lot of mistakes – we all do! We HEART Miley. Here are some highlights from Miley’s Parade interview (photos below):
On her fan base: “I am screwed up in the mind a little bit because I’m not like other 16- or 17-year-old girls. I have no perspective of who exactly my fans are, to tell you the truth. Teenage girls in general are hard for me. I’m not a girl’s girl.”
On country music: “It feels contrived on so many levels. Unless you’re wearing a cowboy hat and boots and singing and whining about your girlfriend or boyfriend leaving you it’s not going to sell. It makes me nervous, the politics of it all.”
On the paparazzi: “You have to ask, ‘Why would any other 50-year-old man who was stalking a 17-year-old girl go to jail, but not these guys?’ I mean, they couldn’t sit outside of a high school but they can sit outside my recording studio. It’s creepy.”
On her faith: “To me, faith is about having a clean slate and a clean start. The one thing I’m really strong about regarding my religious beliefs is that you should know a little bit about everything before you define your own beliefs.”
On Twitter: “I believe God is the only one who can judge us. That’s the reason I deleted my Twitter, because I said I believed in gay marriage because everyone should have the right to love each other, and I got hate mail about being a bad person.”
On Liam Helmsworth: “[Liam has] become my best friend. I love him. He really respects me for who I am because coming from Australia, he really didn’t know me as the celebrity I am here. I got to tell him about myself on my own terms.”
On Lady Gaga: “I really love her. She’s really smart. I used to be like, yeah, I guess she’s talented but how much is she really singing. But I’ve become a convert. She has to be smart to come up with all the stuff she comes up with. She gets it.”

Robert Pattinson Parade Magazine Interview
Written by Violet on March 11, 2010 – 12:18 pm -Robert Pattinson is making the press rounds to promote his film with Emilie de Ravin, Remember Me. The actor gave Parade magazine a view into his thoughts on asking a girl out on a date, James Dean comparisons and meaningless celebrity. Here is an excerpt:
Dating good, asking girls out, not so good: “When it comes to the opposite sex, I’m not as fully confident as the guy I play. I don’t even remember the last time I asked someone out on a date, like, just went up to them and that’s the first thing I did. I’m much more self-conscious and not wanting to fail. So I tend to hold back.”
The James Dean influence, also good: “I think he was like the most influential person for young guys, especially actors, in the last 50 years. So yeah, I mean, I’m not ashamed to say I am very much influenced by him.”
Finding balance with work and privacy: “You keep trying to make your name stand for something other than just like meaningless celebrity. It’s a difficult battle, but I think people like Johnny Depp have done that. He’s not judged by his public image, it’s just his acting that counts. To get to that place takes a lot of discipline and a lot of hiding.”
Remember Me opens March 12th. Check out major spoilers here (but you were warned – don’t click if you don’t want to know!)
