It’s not often sixteen year olds get to sail solo around the world so when one brave teen takes on the challenge, everyone takes note. Abby Sunderland, has attempted the adventure and she has found herself in the middle of not only the Indian Ocean, but a heated debate about what a teen should or shouldn’t be allowed to do on their own.

Sunderland set sail in her yacht, Wild Eyes, in an attempt to be the youngest person ever to circumnavigate the globe non-stop, alone and unassisted. In April she had to stop in Cape Town, South Africa for repairs and while it ended the non-stop part of her quest, Abby continued on after her auto pilot system was fixed. On June 10th, Sunderland set off her EPRIB’s (emergency beacons) after her boat was turned on it’s side and the mast snapped thanks to a storm near Madagascar. A rescue plane has spotted the teenager and her disabled boat and a nearby fishing vessel has been dispatched to pick up the stranded-at-sea teen.

Abby’s father, Laurence Sunderland, is telling reporters that his daughter’s journey is over for now, but the debate is raging on: was she too young to try it in the first place? Should her parents have stopped her? Would waiting until she was eighteen made that much of a difference? It wasn’t too long ago when the world was asking the same questions of Jessica Dubroff’s parents. Dubroff died in 1996 when she attempted a solo flight at the age of seven and was tragically unsuccessful.

Spending a bit of money on a sunny afternoon at Zachary’s Smile, Frances Bean Cobain was photographed with porcelain skin and bright red lips and haircolor. The offspring of grunge musicians Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love managed to leave the NYC vintage shop with a few purchases and lots of paparazzi pics. Call me crazy – something about these look very staged.

The ‘Red Dawn’ reboot is in full swing with a major new cast member on board, Connor Cruise. The son of actors Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, the 14 year old is taking a page out of the family business and becoming a working actor.

Cruise will play Daryl, the mayor of Spokane, and best friend of tech geek Robert.

The 1984 action movie is about a group of teenagers who form an insurgency when their town is invaded, this time by the Russians and the Chinese.

The cast of this movie is getting more interesting everyday. Josh Peck from Drake & Josh and Chris Hemsworth from Star Trek are also on board.

A brand new clip from the upcoming ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) has surfaced. After Alex (Selena Gomez) has wished her parents never met, Justin (David Henrie) and Alex watch as their father, Jerry (David DeLuise) is flirting with other women. The WOWP movie airs on the Disney Channel Friday August 28th.

Is ‘Hannah Montana‘ star Miley Cyrus really taking the big legal step and getting herself emancipated from her parents, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus? Rumors had been running around the internet for a long while, but according to Janet Charlton’s Hollywood site, the announcement will be made next week.

“Has Miley been so swept away by her twenty year old boyfriend Justin Gaston that she wants to move in with him, or what?”

I have to say I hope this isn’t true. High profile Disney stars do not always do well on their own and Miley’s parents seem very protective of her and do not see her as a walking paycheck.
