AnnaSophia Robb took the red carpet for the premiere of her latest film, Soul Surfer, at the ArcLight Cinerama Dome in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.

Robb chose a purple dress with black lace overlay by D & G and swept her hair back and posed with the real-life inspiration of the story, Bethany Hamilton.

Hamilton lost her left arm to a vicious shark attack while surfing but the then teenager kept pursuing her dream to surf again.

AnnaSophia Robb’s upcoming film Soul Surfer, has just had a new photo released of her and her onscreen parents, Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt. The actress is portraying teen surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm from a vicious shark attack but still forges ahead competing and winning in the sport she loves, surfing.

This film seems like it was shot a long time ago (although it was only this past winter.) Shot on location in Hawaii (see more photos here) the movie is getting released in time for spring break: April 15, 2011.

Aimee Teegarden signed on for a surfing flick, Beautiful Waves, this past summer and now AnnaSophia Robb is beginning production on her new film, Soul Surfer. Robb’s movie is based on the real life experiences of Bethany Hamilton who lost her arm after being attacked in the water by a shark and went on to become a pro surfer.

“She’s super cool. A great girl,” Hamilton said of Robb. “We’ve met in Hawaii and hung out.” For post-attack scenes in which a one-armed stunt woman was needed, Hamilton stepped up. “They wanted a one-armed person doing it and that’s not easy to find,” Hamilton said.

Another surf movie is fine with me. I loved Robb (and Josh Hutcherson) in Bridge to Terabithia. and I can’t wait to see her in this.
