Willow Smith To Star In ‘Annie’ Remake
Written by Violet on January 20, 2011 – 6:54 am -Willow Smith might play Annie in a possible remake of the classic Broadway musical.
Actor Will Smith is working on a possible deal to bring the play back to life as a big screen star vehicle for his daughter. Will would be the producer of the new movie and rapper Jay-Z is in negotiations to do the music.
Jay-Z, who worked with Willow previously on her awesome song “Whip My Hair,” is no stranger to the musical. He sampled the chorus of “It’s A Hard Knock Life” for his hip-hop version “Hard Knock Life.”
Nothing is finalized yet but with the success of Will and Jaden Smith’s remake of The Karate Kid, that should make the deal go through a lot quicker.

Josh Hutcherson & Cast For ‘Red Dawn’ First Look PHOTO
Written by Violet on January 5, 2011 – 7:07 am -Josh Hutcherson and the cast of Red Dawn strike a pose in the first photo of the reboot to hit the internet (see the full cast shot inside.)
The film has been completed for a while, but has lingered without release because of the studio’s (MGM) financial problems. Now that MGM is in chapter 11 (which is bankruptcy, but allows the company to reform, restructure and pay off creditors slowly,) Dawn may see the light of day in theaters later this year.
The 80s original version of the movie (starring Charlie Sheen, Lea Thompson, Jennifer Grey and the late Patrick Swayze,) was about a band of teenagers who came together to fight the Russians invading America. The new reboot stars Hutcherson, Connor Cruise, Chris Hemsworth, Isabelle Lucas and Josh Peck who fight the fictional Chinese take over of the U.S.

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Candice Accola – What’s Next For Caroline & Tyler?
Written by Violet on November 29, 2010 – 10:00 pm -In one season on The Vampire Diairies, Candice Accola’s Caroline has gone from human midnight snack for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) to a powerful, slightly neurotic vampire forging a friendship (and possible romance) with werewolf in waiting Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino). Accola sees the two forming a sort of alliance that is becoming so strong, all things are possible between the two supernatural characters:
There are hints that Tyler and Caroline’s friendship is something more. Are we going to see them develop a romance?
A lot of great romances can grow from friendship. Of course, there’s definitely a possibility of that. Whether or not that’s going to happen, I don’t know. We’re not that much farther ahead of the audience. So I really don’t know. I know that … Caroline’s the only one that knows what Tyler’s been going through, so that friendship isn’t just going to go away. There’s something there. Whether that turns into a romantic relationship or whether it turns into a really beautiful support system for one another, who knows. The fans will just have to stay tuned and watch.Romance or friendship-wise, do you think they’re doomed in a way since vampires and werewolves are historically enemies?
It’s definitely got a Romeo and Juliet quality to it, the idea of them becoming romantic. Who knows? That didn’t end very well with Romeo and Juliet. [Laughs] Hopefully, it wouldn’t be that same result for Caroline and Tyler. I don’t know. Really, right now, the most prominent thing going on between both of them is finding a safe place for Tyler to transform. It’s really about his transformation right now. It’s not about anything else, which I think is such a wonderful thing because, for Caroline, any involvement with a member of the opposite sex was immediately sexual throughout the first season. It was immediately like crush-worthy. It wasn’t just like a friendship. I think it’s just a lovely way of showing that she as a character has grown within the second season. It’s more than just about a boy I immediately have to have a crush on. It’s a friendship. It’s something a little bit more substantial.
So what is in store for Caroline & Tyler? The last two shows of 2010 on December 2nd and 9th deal with the werewolves and Tyler’s transformation so there should be lots of scenes together. Should we call them Cyler or Taroline or Fockwood? Either way – I like the Romeo and Juliet aspect of these two characters.
Accola has truly been a wonderful surprise in the second season of TVD – and for a show that is consistently raising the bar every week with twists and shockers – that is saying something.
Check out The Vampire Diaries episode 2.10 “The Sacrifice” on Thursday December 2nd on The CW.

Lea Michele & ‘Dorothy Of Oz’ Preview Photos
Written by Violet on November 5, 2010 – 1:04 am -Glee actress Lea Michele is taking on the beloved role of Dorothy in the upcoming animated feature Dorothy of Oz due in theaters in 2012. This version is a continuation of the original L. Frank Baum story written by the author’s grandson, Roger S. Baum. It brings Dorothy back to a Kansas that was shredded by the tornado; however the young girl soon finds herself zipped back to Oz again as it too has started to crumble. From the movie website:
In the story, Dorothy returns to Kansas to find it devastated by the tornado that had whisked her away to the magical Land of Oz. The home she had been so desperate to return to is no longer; the townspeople, with nowhere to turn, are packing up and moving out. However, before Dorothy can even begin to react to or resist this change, she is transported back to Oz by equally magical methods as her first trip. Oz is in trouble, and the people there need her help: Dorothy’s old friends – the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion – have disappeared and the land is in a state of decay. As Dorothy journeys to find her friends, she encounters a number of new companions and problems, including a man made of marshmallows who cant think for himself, a china doll princess whose bossiness is a cover for her fragility, and a tugboat with as many personalities as he has pieces. Dorothy must help this odd group band together against a wicked new villan – a Jester who thinks all of Oz should be under his own control.
The initial images of this are fantastic; with original songs and old and new characters voiced by talented actors Kelsey Grammer, (Tin Man) Martin Short, (Jester) Dan Aykroyd, (Scarecrow) Jim Belushi, (Cowardly Lion) Hugh Dancy, (Marshall Mallow) Patrick Stewart, (Tugg Boat) and Oliver Platt (Wiser the Owl.) Lea is in great company.
I always loved the original series so I’d look forward to seeing what they do with this. I can’t wait to hear Michele give voice to Dorothy – she should be terrific.

Emma Stone Will Be Gwen Stacy In ‘Spider-Man’ Reboot
Written by Violet on October 6, 2010 – 8:44 pm -Emma Stone has officially landed a part in the new Spider-Man movie but not as Mary Jane Watson – instead she will be Gwen Stacy, the first love of Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield.) Here is the press release:
CULVER CITY, Calif., October 5, 2010 – Emma Stone has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming Spider-Man film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, it was announced today by Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures. Stone has been tapped for the role of Gwen Stacy opposite Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. The film, to be directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and produced by Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin, will begin production in December and will be released in theaters nationwide in 3D on July 3, 2012.
The casting continues an association between Sony Pictures and the actress, who previously starred in Superbad, The House Bunny, and Zombieland, all for Columbia Pictures; she may currently be seen in Screen Gems’ hit comedy Easy A, and takes a cameo role in Screen Gems’ upcoming Friends with Benefits.
Commenting on the announcement, Tolmach said, “It’s been an incredible journey for us to watch Emma’s star rise as an actress. She is extraordinarily talented and has a very special on-screen spark that is perfect for this role. Given her history with the studio, casting her in one of our most important franchises is a real thrill.”
Webb added, “The chemistry between Andrew and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice. At the heart of the of the story of Peter Parker is not only the amazing Spider-Man, but also an ordinary teenager who is wondering what he has to do to get the girl. Andrew and Emma will bring everything audiences expect to these roles, but also make them their own. Much to my surprise, it was fun to find out that our choice for Gwen (Emma) is also a natural blonde.”
If Sony stays faithful to the original comic story line, this will be a limited role for Stone – Gwen isn’t around for long – but this is Hollywood and a new vision may change the ending. Next major casting piece ahead – the part of Mary Jane.

Emma Stone Might Be Spider-Man’s Mary Jane
Written by Violet on October 4, 2010 – 8:20 am -The casting for the latest movie in the Spider-Man reboot is coveted by young Hollywood for it’s high profile box-office potential. This version will see Peter Parker (Spidey’s alter-ego) in high school and while Josh Hutcherson and Logan Lerman were rumored to be front runners for the part, it has gone to Andrew Garfield, who stars in this week’s big big big movie The Social Network.
Next up – who is going to be Peter’s love Mary Jane Watson? Everybody’s favorite Emma Stone is going to get the offer, according to Deadline Hollywood.
Sony Pictures Entertainment will imminently offer the role of Mary Jane Watson to Emma Stone, who starred for the studio in Zombieland and Easy A. It’s another good role for Stone, who is currently shooting the Tate Taylor-directed adaptation of the Kathryn Stockett bestseller The Help for DreamWorks. She plays Skeeter, the college student who comes home determined to expose the class differences between the matriarchs and their house servants in the South in 1962.
Stone, and Garfield for that matter, are on fire with plum roles sought after by actors under 25. Glee’s Dianna Agron and The Kids Are All Right star Mia Wasikowska were also considered for Mary Jane but may still be in the running for the part of Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker’s high school sweetheart.
Emma is the October cover of Nylon magazine’s “It Girl Issue.” Check it out here.
