Robert Pattinson ‘The Summer House’ Release News

Written by Violet on July 3, 2010 – 6:25 pm -

Before Twilight took him to new levels of fame, Robert Pattinson starred in a short film in 2008 called The Summer House. The movie has been languishing for a while, but will finally be available to purchase on iTunes July 13th. What it’s about:

Jane (Talulah Riley) is in rural France visiting her aunt Priscilla (Anna Calder-Marshall) during the hot summer of 1969, the year of the Moon landings. Also staying at this beautiful 19th century chateau, a sleeping beauty of a house, are her aunt’s old flame Freddie Porteous, (David Burke) a charming Englishman, and his wife Marie Pierre, (Marianne Borgo) a French woman of great sophistication and beauty.

Jane has left behind an unfaithful first love. Several letters have pursued her, letters decorated with hearts to tempt her.  The author of these letters, Richard (Robert Pattinson) turns up uninvited. Jane is unaware that her situation is provoking tensions among the older generation, she catches whispers of unspoken somethings at the heart of Freddie and Priscilla’s relationship and she finds Marie Pierre’s allure and passion unsettling.

Sounds perfect for the hot steamy weather of the summer months.

Check out more of the story at The Summer House’s website here.

‘Beastly’ Alex Pettyfer GlamourUK Hot

Written by Violet on January 13, 2010 – 4:55 pm -

Alex Pettyfer may not be well known in the United States yet, however the seriously gorgeous 19 year-old Brit is hitting the big screen stateside with Vanessa Hudgens and Mary Kate Olsen in Beastly this summer and that will probably change. The actor was also named as one of Britain’s Hottest Younger Actors in the February issue of GlamourUK. Here is an excerpt:

Boobs are a pit-stop on the way to a better place. I’m an arse man. And legs. I like boobs too, though — don’t get me wrong.

We never fancy girls who fart. If they burp or fart or swear or whatever, it can be a turn-off. but if she’s a good friend, then it’s accepted.

We do crazy things for love. I got a girl’s name tattooed on my ring finger because I was in love. We’ve broken up, but I don’t live in regret.

Pettyfer’s upcoming retelling of the classic Beauty and The Beast story will hit theaters in the US July 30 and the UK on October 1st. Anyone else looking forward to this? I know I am.

Check out behind the scenes footage here and pics from the movie (including Pettyfer in full beast make-up) here.

‘Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief’ Movie Featurette

Written by Violet on December 30, 2009 – 12:04 am -

Logan Lerman, who plays the title role in Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief is set to take on mythological creatures big and small in the upcoming movie. As Percy, he is beset by troubles every year at school until he learns why – he is a half-blood hero, son of Poseidon, one of the gods of Mount Olympus. Being set up as a thief of Zeus’ powerful lightning bolt, Percy and his friends Grover (Brandon T. Jackson) and Annabeth, (Alexandra Daddario) travel across the country to clear his name and avoid a war between the Greek gods. Unfortunately for them, monsters line up to try and thwart his quest. This movie featurette gives us a glimpse at some of the battles Percy and The Gang will face.

The books by Rick Riordan are great! The movie looks fantastic. Chris Columbus is directing (Harry Potter 1 and 2) and has Pierce Brosnan as the centaur, Chiron and Uma Thurman as Medusa. I can’t wait to check it February 12, 2010.

Emma Watson Earns Biggest Box Office Bucks

Written by Violet on December 20, 2009 – 8:04 am -

Emma Watson has been crowned the biggest grossing actress of the 00′s by The Guinness Book of World Records. Thanks to the Harry Potter franchise of films and her voice over work for the animated The Tale of Desperaux, Watson’s films take in more money at release time than any other actress, beating out the likes of Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon. Watson will be seen in the final two Harry Potter flicks in 2010 and 2011. Until then, the Brown University freshman is keeping a low profile while studying in the US.

‘Obsessed’ With Robert Pattinson: Amy Kuney Parody

Written by Violet on October 17, 2009 – 6:55 pm -

Amy Kuney is a very talented singer. She has covered lots of artist’s songs and this time she takes ‘Obsessed’ by Miley Cyrus and gives it a Robsessed spin.

“I know I’m not the only person to be unhealthily obsessed with Robert Pattinson who plays Edward, lead vampire, in the bloody drama Twilight: New Moon, so I decided to take my unhealthy, unbalanced obsession to a whole new creepy level by doing a parody of Twilight and covering ‘Obsessed’ by Miley Cyrus. Haha, ‘Robsessed’.. I’m definitely on Team Edward. I’m stoked to see New Moon coming out Nov. 20th! I’ll see you there, popcorn in hand :) ~amy ps. this is a partial dramatization- I’m really not this creepy..”

So funny!

Written by Violet on October 4, 2009 – 7:18 pm -

Rupet’s fansite IceCreamMan was instrumental in seeing his film get the attention it deserves.

Rupert Grint Fans Petition For ‘Cherrybomb’ Release

Written by Violet on September 30, 2009 – 2:12 pm -

Rupert Grint’s film Cherrybomb is having a hard time finding distribution and a petition has been started to get the movie released into theaters. While the flick has been shown to some movie festival audiences and won praise, it is still languishing without a company willing to finance it’s theatrical distribution. The petition has approximately 10,000 signatures with over 4,800 coming from the United States.

From the Cherrybomb American Distribution Petition:

To:  Distributers To American Film Distributors

We, the undersigned, urge you to distribute the film Cherrybomb in the United States. We present you with signatures from people all over the country who want this film in their local theaters. We come together as fans of Rupert Grint, of independent cinema and, most of all, of Cherrybomb.
Rupert Grint, star of the Harry Potter films, plays the lead role in Cherrybomb. However, it is not solely Harry Potter fans who are interested in this film. Many websites that publish features on Cherrybomb are saturated with comments from movie-goers who are eager to see the film. The trailer has captured the attention of both teenagers as well as adults. Critics are noticing that Rupert Grint completely shakes off his trademark Ron Weasley persona from the Harry Potter movies. Industry professionals are hailing the great performances by the leading actors, as well as the skillful and impressive direction of the film.

Cherrybomb’s focus is a quest for a new identity, seen through the eyes of a rampant teenage culture. The film is visually beautiful and fast paced, with an award-nominated soundtrack, offering a complete cinematic experience. Distributors like yourself should not be surprised to learn that audiences in America are hungry to see Cherrybomb in their local theaters and movie houses. We will support your efforts to bring this film to its audience.

‘How To Be’ Director Talks Robert Pattinson

Written by Violet on September 16, 2009 – 10:54 pm -

Oliver Irving directed a small independent film How To Be that featured Robert Pattinson before he exploded in popularity as Edward Cullen of the Twilight series. Pattinson had been a part of the Harry Potter phenomenon with his role of Cedric Diggory in Goblet of Fire, however his fan base was nothing compared to what it became with his vampire role. Irving cast Pattinson in between those two blockbusters for the part of Art, a 25 year-old guy stumbling through life confused and without much direction. Irving got very lucky and thanks to Pattinson’s fan base, How To Be is being seen by a wider audience than it probably would’ve been otherwise. With the upcoming DVD release on November 17th – right around the premiere of New Moon - the director is praising Pattinson’s ability to inhabit the character he developed for the film.

How was Robert Pattinson chosen for the role of Art? Did his musical ability play a role in his casting?
“We found him after a year and a half’s worth of casting calls. He just seemed the right person for the job. He was interesting to look at – but down to earth enough to play the part. He really seemed to “get it” – he knew people like the characters in the script, and understood the main character ‘ART’. Not having gone through drama school, Rob’s acting and response to direction fit in well with other main cast members who were not trained actors either. Rob actually underplayed his musical ability in the auditions, as he knew the character was meant to be rough around the edges when it comes to musical ability – but it actually was invaluable in the end that he understood the music references and had the technical ability to pull off what we were asking from him.”

I look forward to catching this on DVD and want to see his flick with Pierce Brosnan and Emilie de Ravin Remember Me when it comes out in February of 2010.

Who caught this film on the IFC Channel a couple of months ago? What did you think of the movie? Was Pattinson good? Tell us what you thought of his un-Edward performance.
