Elle Fanning stepped out at the 13th Annual Young Hollywood Awards presented by Bing at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on Friday evening.

The Somewhere actress chose a very cute Marc by Marc Jacobs outfit of satin shorts and blouse for the ceremony.

Fanning, 13, was honored as the Actress of the Year in Film. She was given the award by her Twixt Now and Sunrise director, Francis Ford Coppola.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button actress has a number of movies due later this year: Super 8, Twixt, We Bought A Zoo and Vivaldi. She is earning that trophy!

W Magazine compiled a list of the best performers of the past year. The Fanning sisters, Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning, might be young, but they have both been including in this list, which includes some big names like Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, Mila Kunis and Annette Benning.

16 year-old Dakota’s character in “The Runaways” and 12 year-old Elle’s character in Sofia Coppola’s “Somewhere” were described as “so real they hurt”. They brought their characters to life and made us believe they are real.

DAKOTA FANNING IN “THE RUNAWAYS”:
Dakota speaks of her high school experience: “It was important for me to go to a normal high school. I have a locker, which was a big deal. My mom had to buy me a lock and teach me how to use it. It’s the little things: Where do you go at lunch? How do you open the locker? I wanted a yearbook! Now I have a lot of signatures in my yearbook—‘Have a good summer’ and all that.”

ELLE FANNING IN “SOMEWHERE”:
Elle speaks of her obsession with Marilyn Monroe: “The first movie I really fell in love with was The Seven Year Itch. I love Marilyn Monroe. I went as her in the white dress for Halloween. I did the mole and the little cat eye.”

Twilight star Dakota Fanning’s younger sister, Elle Fanning, is slowly becoming her own persona and one of the most promising young actress. The 12 year-old looked like a very beautiful young lady at the 16th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards held at the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California on Friday (January 14)- more pictures below.

AJ Michalka caught the premiere of Somewhere, the Sophia Coppola directed drama, at the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood on Tuesday (December 7th.) AJ just got back from Vancouver where she has begun filming her guest spot on sister Aly Michalka’s CW TV show Hellcats.

Somewhere costars Elle Fanning, who will be working with Michalka in the JJ Abrams sci-fi thriller Super 8 set to film next year.

Lounging on the cover of the French magazine Jalouse, Elle Fanning looks relaxed despite the hectic schedule the young actress has coming up.

Fanning is in two holiday films: The Nutcracker 3D, released at Thanksgiving time and Somewhere by Sophia Coppola, due the end of December. The younger sister of Dakota is also set to start work on the J.J. Abrams project Super 8. In between films, she manages school and ballet classes but no matter what she is doing, Elle tells Teen Vogue she gives 100% every time:

“Whether I’m acting or dancing, I always try to be the best that I can,” she says.

AJ Michalka is joining Elle Fanning as part of J.J. Abrams new thriller Super 8. Steven Spielberg will exec produce and Noah Emmerich and Kyle Chandler are already on board. Most of the plot details are being kept under wraps but as you can see from the teaser trailer below, in 1979 something big and nasty escapes from the top secret government location Area 51.

Michalka will be in Disney’s upcoming Secretariat and Fanning’s latest, Somewhere, is due in December.

Elle Fanning has grabbed a plum part in director Sofia Coppola’s latest film Somewhere. Dakota’s younger sister is poised to shine on her own in the father/daughter drama set in Los Angeles. Fanning is the 11 year-old Cleo, who gives her father (played by Stephen Dorff) a reason to change. Here is the official synopsis:

Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff) is a bad-boy A-List actor stumbling through a life of excess while living at Hollywood’s legendary Chateau Marmont Hotel.  His days are a haze of drinks, girls, fast cars and fawning fans.  Cocooned in this celebrity-induced artificial world, Johnny has lost all sense of his true self.

Until, that is, his 11-year-old daughter Cleo (Elle Fanning) unexpectedly shows up and unwittingly begins to anchor him.  Johnny’s fragile connection to real life slowly revives in her presence. So when the time comes for Cleo to leave, his sense of loss is palpable, but the gift of hope she has also brought him leads to a beautiful, poetic denouement imbued with all of Coppola’s remarkable powers to conjure mood and atmosphere.

Quiet and understated, Coppola’s movies are magnificent hidden gems to discover and she brings out wonderful performances in the actors she casts (think Scarlett Johannson and Bill Murray in Lost In Translation.)
