The ‘Red Dawn’ reboot is in full swing with a major new cast member on board, Connor Cruise. The son of actors Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, the 14 year old is taking a page out of the family business and becoming a working actor.

Cruise will play Daryl, the mayor of Spokane, and best friend of tech geek Robert.

The 1984 action movie is about a group of teenagers who form an insurgency when their town is invaded, this time by the Russians and the Chinese.

The cast of this movie is getting more interesting everyday. Josh Peck from Drake & Josh and Chris Hemsworth from Star Trek are also on board.

Once again, Hollywood is going to the well and committing to yet another ‘reboot’ - this time ‘Red Dawn’ is getting the update with a younger cast and a lot of hopes on money-making success. Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey and Charlie Sheen were part of the original cast of teens who fight back after the US is invaded by communists. 

Josh Peck will take on Sheen’s Matt Eckertt and his brother Jed Eckertt (originated by Swayze) will be played by Chris Hemsworth from this summer’s hot hot hot ‘Star Trek’  movie. Adrianne Palicki from ‘Friday Night Lights’  joins in Grey’s role of Toni Mason. So far, Peck (from his years as on Nickelodeon’s ‘Drake and Josh’ ) is the highest profile star attached to the 2010 version. Still more casting news to come.
