Written by Violet on April 15, 2011 – 5:15 pm -

Nina Dobrev has landed a role in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

The Vampire Diaries actress is joining Logan Lerman and Emma Watson for the adaptation of the book by author Stephen Chbosky, according to Deadline.

Dobrev, 21, will play Candace, while Logan is Charlie and Watson has the role of Sam.

The book is consistently challenged in many libraries across the U.S. for it’s themes of drug use, sex, homosexuality, child abuse and suicide according to the American Library Association.

Nina has just wrapped season 2 of The Vampire Diaries and is expected to start filming this soon, on her summer break from TVD. She also stars in The Killing Game with Kellan Lutz, due out later this year.

Written by Violet on December 29, 2010 – 6:50 am -

Logan Lerman is the hot tempered D’Artagan in Paul W.S. Anderson’s upcoming The Three Musketeers 3D. Decked out in 17th century garment of a white tunic and riding pants, Lerman is taking on the classic character from the novel by Alexandre Dumas.

In the first official still from the upcoming flick, Logan is shown with Matthew Macfadyen as Athos, Lerman as D’Artagnan, Ray Stevenson as Porthos, and Luke Evans as Aramis.

Check out the full photo (with the rest of the cast) under.

The film opens October 14, 2011.

‘Breaking Dawn’ – Two Movies Are Better Than One

Written by Violet on February 11, 2010 – 11:45 pm -

How many movies will Breaking Dawn, the final chapter of The Twilight Saga be made into has been a guessing game for fans of the series for some time. Summit, the studio that gives us the popular movies, had said that there would be only one BD flick even after actor BooBoo Stewart (Seth Clearwater) confirmed what most fans hoped for and had been assumed – there would be two movies.

Previously, author Stephanie Meyer said in an interview with MTV that she knew right where the film should be split – if it were to be made into two films and at that time seemed genuinely happy to have a two part ending to the saga. In January however, it was reported that Meyer could not “decide whether or not [making two movies] is the right thing to do creatively” and perhaps there was tension between the studio and creator. Meyer, who has given few interviews over the past year, issued a denial regarding any problems between herself and movie executives but it did make you wonder what was the problem?

After all the hoopla and behind the scenes drama, two movies will be made. An official announcement is due as early as next week. No director has been chosen (Chris Weitz, New Moon’s man in charge, has passed) and filming/production dates will need to be nailed down for all the actors – especially Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Dakota Fanning and Ashley Greene who have lots of offers and other commitments.

The third film, Eclipse is due in theaters June 2010, and the first full length trailer was rumored to be attached to Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, opening this weekend (February 12th) however that has been debunked.

What do you think? Happy with two movies or ready to see Rob and Kristen in other non vampire stuff?

‘New Moon’ Director Chris Weitz Interview

Written by Violet on September 19, 2009 – 9:24 pm -

The Twilight Saga: New Moon release is still two months away, but director Chris Weitz has given boxoffice.com a short interview about the upcoming movie. Of course, the filmmaker was asked about the rumoured romantic relationship between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson and while he didn’t confirm it – he did give a very interesting answer to the supposed secrecy.

One of my favorite New Moon conspiracy theories is that the producers are ordering Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson to keep their love hidden because it will affect the way people will perceive the story, even though the story is already known even until the next two books.

The fans know what the Volturi look like or what Taylor Lautner as Jacob’s amazing bod is going to look like—the producers know these things are big points of curiosity about whether we’ve been able to be faithful to people’s notions. And they want to parse these things out over time. [Laughs] It is a conspiracy, but the conspiracy is called marketing.

While that is what everyone will focus on, I thought his answers about the actual storyline and how he chooses to film it, were really fascinating. He mentions he feels almost liberated about making a movie from a book, where the ending is already known to the audience. That is unique, many artists feel just the opposite – worried about negative fan reaction to any visual or storyline changes.

This is sequel is shaping up to possibly be better than original in many ways. I know by the feedback we get everyone is super excited about the November movie.

Stephanie Meyers Thinks There Should Be Five Twilight Movies

Written by Violet on August 30, 2009 – 5:46 pm -

Movie TrailersMovies Blog

Twilight author Stephanie Meyers had given this interview to MTV in July of 2008 and I thought I’d bring it back and open up the debate about how many Twilight Saga movies there should be. As you can see, Meyers is a firm believer in having two films for Breaking Dawn, instead of just one. Check out her comments in the interview above.

A little over a week ago, newly hired actor Boo Boo Stewart (for the part of Seth Clearwater) put his young foot in his mouth when he opened up regarding a fifth movie for the Twilight franchise. Summit Entertainment executives quickly denied his statement and said the actor was “unfortunately uninformed and not accurate.” The studio did mention working with Meyers on the fourth book of the series: Breaking Dawn. It did sound a little like this does leave room for splitting the final epic into two movies, it wasn’t a total denial of the possibility of “doing a Harry Potter” on the end film (they did not say only four would be made) and giving fans two chances to say good-bye to the characters they’ve come to grow so attached to (and giving the studio a chance to milk more money out of moviegoers.)

Who knows how this will end, but they must be working on the script for BD soon. With Eclipse filming in Vancouver now, that would put Dawn on target for a February/March shooting schedule. Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Dakota Fanning in particular are such in demand actors, everything needs to be finalized quickly.

What do you think? Do you want it split into two films? Or do you feel it would just be a cheap gimmick by the studio to lengthen (and perhaps ruin) the saga?

‘New Moon’ Cover EW’s Fall Movie Preview Issue

Written by Violet on August 13, 2009 – 7:04 pm -

Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart are on the cover of Entertainment Weekly’s Fall Movie Preview issue. As it turns out, Stewart was Lautner’s biggest supporter, way back when it was possible Taylor could get the boot by Summit - just as what happened with Rachelle Lefevre recently.

“It’s completely understandable why they wanted to make sure he was right,” says the actress. “He was so young, 16, so I got it. But I knew he had [to do] it. Just because of how I felt around him.” And how did the Bella-Jacob best-friend chemistry play out on set? “We have that relationship,” she says. “It’s lamely cute.”

More outtakes, photos and quotes will be coming from the article.

Peter Facinelli & Jackson Rathbone at TwiCon

Written by Violet on August 3, 2009 – 10:22 pm -

Movie TrailersMovies Blog

Twilight’ stars Peter Facinelli and Jackson Rathbone were in Dallas over the weekend at the superfan convention known as ‘TwiCon.’ MTV got both ‘New Moon’ actors to respond to the controversy surrounding the Rachelle Lefevre replacement as vampire Victoria in the supernatural movies. Clearly the two actors want to keep their jobs (Hello Summit!) and try to say as little as possible that might get the execs upset again. Bryce Dallas Howard may be the new baddie for ‘Eclipse’ but obviously the actors will miss Lefevre.

Rachelle Lefevre Out As Victoria In ‘Eclipse’

Written by Violet on July 29, 2009 – 6:16 pm -

Surprising news today as Summit Entertainment announced it will replace Rachelle Lefevre as the meanie Victoria in the third film ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse.’ In comes Bryce Dallas Howard as the newest redhead to menace damsel in distress Bella, played by Kristen Stewart. Adding fuel to the gossip fire is the reason Summit has publicly announced – conflict of schedules. Lefevre is stunned by that response and had this to say:

“I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me,” she says.

Summit said the actress was leaving because of a scheduling conflict with her upcoming film Barney’s Version, which begins filming the same day as Eclipse.

But Lefevre says her commitment to the indie film was only less than two weeks. “Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap.”

No contract disputes that anyone is owning up to, this makes this recasting of the role very suspect. I find it hard to believe that Lefevre and Summit couldn’t have worked this out – I believe Jackson Rathbone was working on ‘The Last Airbender’ with M. Night Shyamalan while ‘New Moon’ filmed.

Now, note the connection – six degrees of Hollywood – Rachelle Lefevre stars with Jackson Rathbone (in ‘Twilight’ and ‘New Moon’) who worked with M. Night Shyamalan in ‘The Last Airbender’ who directed Bryce Dallas Howard in ‘The Village’ who replaces Lefevre in ‘Eclipse.’

Taylor Lautner - good thing you got muscular quick – Summit appears to have no problem with continuity of actors between films. Robert Pattinson will have another actress to snarl at when ‘Eclipse’ starts filming in August.
