Earlier this week, country music super star, Taylor Swift, reached out to pay tribute to one of her biggest fans, Sgt. Wade Wilson, who was killed in Afghanistan on May 11th.

Swift heard about Wilson’s death when one of his fellow soldiers, Cpl. Josh Marreel, posted a message to her on YouTube,

This is a shout out to the one and only Taylor Swift.  I know you have no idea who I am but this video isn’t about me. This is about a good buddy, Sgt. Wade D. Wilson, who was killed in action Friday, May 11, 2012 in Afghanistan… Anybody that knew Willy personally knew that he worshiped you. He even slept with a poster of you in between our beds in Afghanistan.

The 22-year-old singer responded in style – sending flowers and a handwritten note to Sgt. Wilson’s family, which read,

Wade, thank you for loving my music. I won’t forget it and I will never forget you. All my love, Taylor Swift.

Swift even followed up the flowers by calling the Wilsons to ask their permission to don their son’s dog tags in her next music video.

Talk about a class act!

22-year-old country music star Taylor Swift is no stranger to walking away a winner from The Academy of Country Music Awards, but one thing she’s not used to is waltzing down the red carpet without a date!

The 2012 Entertainer of the Year award winner had previously extended an invitation to 18-year-old cancer patient Kevin McGuire to attend the ceremony as her “plus one”, but because of complications due to his illness, the high school football start was forced to be admitted to the hospital on Saturday.

Swift took to her Twitter page to express her disappointment over not getting to meet Kevin in Las Vegas,

Just talked to Kevin McGuire. He’s not well enough to join me at the ACMs. Please keep him in your thoughts. I’ll make it up to you, Kevin!

What a bummer!  We hope Kevin gets to meet Taylor sometime soon – maybe a personal trip to his hospital room is in order?  We’re sure seeing the gorgeous country music songstress in a Candy Striper uniform would put a smile on his face!

The princess of country music stopped by Live! With Kelly earlier today to chat with Kelly Ripa about her Speak Now international tour and the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards.

For the past year, the 22-year-old has been headlining sold-out shows all over the world and meeting fans from London to Hong Kong.  And guys, these are some serious fans.

We’ve been so many different places. It was one of the highlights of my life getting to play the O2 arena in London. But then, going to Singapore and Hong Kong … Norway, Spain, France, Holland, Belgium, all these places I never thought I’d get to go. And Italy, they’re awesome in Italy. In Spain, we were performing, and all these guys are openly weeping … It was so adorable. They’re so passionate. They love music so much.

Now a consummate ACM winner, Swift opened up about what it’s like to be a nominee, waiting for the awards envelop to be opened.

I don’t know who’s going to win any awards. Nobody knows who’s going to win until they say somebody’s name. That’s why, when I’ve won awards in the past, I get up there and [fakes sobs] and it doesn’t make any sense and I black out. Then afterwards, I’m like, ‘What did I say? Was it English?’

Is that why you didn’t tell Kanye to take his seat when he stormed up on stage at the VMAs in 2009?  Because you were blacked out?  It all makes sense now…

Country music sweetheart Taylor Swift has asked Kevin McGuire, an 18-year-old high school football player from New Jersey suffering from leukemia, to be her date to the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.

According to reports, McGuire had originally asked Swift to be his date to senior prom, but when Tay-Tay couldn’t attend, she decided to make it up to him by posting this little love note on her official Facebook page.

Kevin, I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up.. Would you be my date? Love, Taylor.

Not a bad consolation prize, eh Kev?

Well, maybe “stuns” is a strong word – but at least, for once, country phenom Taylor Swift doesn’t look like she just walked into a giant surprise party.

The 22-year-old looks trendy and polished on the February cover of VOGUE - her straightened, blonde locks certainly dull her down to look much more mainstream, which kind of bums me out.  I’m not a huge T.Swift fan (don’t get me wrong, I’m sure she’s a super nice girl, but I just can stomach anymore of the “Who me!?!?” act), but I have always liked that she has a different look about her – this picture has her looking like some kind of a Gweneth Paltrow wannabe.

Personally, I’m more looking forward to the rumored March cover girl – Adele!

At the American Music Awards last night, country artist Taylor Swift went home with several more AMA statuettes for her collection, but this time she took home the pièce de résistance – the AMA for Artist of the Year!

The 21-year-old singer was also crowned Favorite Female Country Artist and Favorite Country Album, as only teenaged girls were allowed to cast ballots in this years voting for the AMAs.  ;)

From the podium, Swift thanked her fans, family and “the little sister she never had”, Selena Gomez.  Insert “awww” or “uuugh”

Now, I get that Taylor’s a country icon and all, but with the breakout year that Adele has had (not to mention her vastly superior vocal talent), wouldn’t she be the more appropriate choice for Artist of the Year?

Country singer Taylor Swift debuted her precious bundle of joy Meredith, on her Facebook page earlier today and the little gal definitely warrants an “awwwww”.

Because nothing says “I’m single and in my 20′s” like getting yourself a feline friend.

Swift is up for several CMA’s this week, including the coveted “Entertainer of the Year” award.  Maybe she’ll pull a Paris Hilton and show up with Meredith peeking out of her purse!

Now that would be newsworthy.

Talk about the ultimate Daddy’s girl; country super star, Taylor Swift threw down 2.5 million smackers for a 5,601 square-foot Antebellum house for her parents, in her now-hometown of Nashville, TN.

Andrea and Scott Swift’s new casa features four spacious bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, a gorgeous formal dining room, multiple sitting areas, and a cement pond (that’s a swimming pool for those of you not versed in “southern speak”).

Billboard Magazine officially announced this week that country recording artist Taylor Swift will be receiving the “Woman of the Year” award at the 2011 Billboard Women in Music event on Dec. 2 in New York City.

Raise your hand if you’re surprised.

Swift, who’s sold more records than, well, anyone in the past year, is the youngest artist to ever receive this honor – and it makes sense:  At 21, she’s already won four Grammy Awards, gone quintuple platinum and been bum-rushed onstage by an angry hip-hop artist.  So yeah, she’s pretty advanced.

According to Bill Werde, Billboard’s Editorial Director,

Taylor has shown the power of good songwriting with music that has transcended genres, and we’re thrilled to recognize all of her successes over the past year by honoring her with the Billboard Woman of the Year Award… At the young age of 21, Taylor has already made a major impact on music and has been an incredible role model for aspiring singers/songwriters and young women everywhere.  I look forward to watching her career continue to flourish in the years to come.

Kind of makes you want to get up off the couch and do something, don’t it?

Country star Taylor Swift is donating $500K to the flood victims in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. The destructive flood left 30 people dead and more than $1 billion on estimated damages.

Taylor said, “I honestly could not believe what was happening to the city and the people I love so dearly … I have always been proud to be a Nashvillian, but especially now, seeing the love that runs through this city when there are people in crisis.”

Taylor is such a sweet girl and her actions will help raise even more money for flood relief. If you want to join Taylor and help go to the Red Cross HERE.
