W Magazine compiled a list of the best performers of the past year. The Fanning sisters, Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning, might be young, but they have both been including in this list, which includes some big names like Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, Mila Kunis and Annette Benning.

16 year-old Dakota’s character in “The Runaways” and 12 year-old Elle’s character in Sofia Coppola’s “Somewhere” were described as “so real they hurt”. They brought their characters to life and made us believe they are real.

DAKOTA FANNING IN “THE RUNAWAYS”:
Dakota speaks of her high school experience: “It was important for me to go to a normal high school. I have a locker, which was a big deal. My mom had to buy me a lock and teach me how to use it. It’s the little things: Where do you go at lunch? How do you open the locker? I wanted a yearbook! Now I have a lot of signatures in my yearbook—‘Have a good summer’ and all that.”

ELLE FANNING IN “SOMEWHERE”:
Elle speaks of her obsession with Marilyn Monroe: “The first movie I really fell in love with was The Seven Year Itch. I love Marilyn Monroe. I went as her in the white dress for Halloween. I did the mole and the little cat eye.”

Marvel comics successful series Runaways is set to be turned into a big screen adaptation. The story of a group of teenagers who band together to fight their evil crime-loving parents will start filming in January 2011 and Keke Palmer has joined the cast. The teen star of Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP has confirmed the offer, but which part she will play is still unclear. The actress told Essence magazine:

“I’ve had a nice little break with the steady TV show but I’m definitely ready to do some more films again. I was just asked to join a new Marvel comic project called, ‘Runaways.’ “

There is also a lone report that Lucas Cruikshank has auditioned for the movie but no official announcement has been made.

Actress Dakota Fanning confessed that her very first girl-on-girl kiss happened on the set of the movie “The Runaways”. The 16 year-old, who played Cherie Currie, and co-star Kristen Stewart, who played Joan Jett, were forced to kiss for one hot scene, but Dakota says it wasn’t awfully awkward.

Dakota felt comfortable with Kristen. In fact, the two have become BFFs.

Dakota said: “Was it awkward? When you feel comfortable around someone and you have no defenses up, that’s when you’re going to be the best. I feel very comfortable with Kristen.”

Dakota is also growing up and wants to be able to take more risky and mature roles. Her career has been evolving naturally and the actress has her parents’ full support.

She explained: “I wanted to do a different kind of movie because I am getting older and my parents had no doubts about the project whatsoever. I think everyone was comfortable because it’s a true story.”

“My mom was there on set the whole time. My dad saw it at the Sundance Festival and I wasn’t really nervous because I’ve been doing this since I was six, so he’s used to seeing me in different situations.

“He says that when he watched it he didn’t even think it was me because I look so different and Cherie is not who I am in real life.”

Dazed & Confused has actress Dakota Fanning covering it’s September issue. The Twilight teen is featured for a beautiful black and white photo spread by Mark Segal that highlight Fanning’s natural beauty.

Kristen Stewart is featured on the cover of UK’s Sunday magazine and the press weary actress is talking about taking a short break until Breaking Dawn begins filming in November.

“The past three years have been heavy,” she says. “I haven’t had any plans in a long time because I’ve been working a lot. I enjoy my downtime and I’m looking forward to it.”

She deserves her time and hopefully she heads back recharged and ready to roar.

Marie Claire is putting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse teen star Dakota Fanning on the cover of it’s August issue. The magazine released this very brief behind the scenes peek of the photo shoot.

Fanning (who plays evil Jane of the Volturri vampire coven,) and her MC cover, is on newsstands July 13th.

Actress Jennifer Stone, who auditioned for the role of Joan Jett in “The Runaways”, admitted that Twilight star Kristen Stewart did an incredible job portraying the rocker and so did Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie.

The 17 year-old actress said, “I’ve always loved Joan Jett and when I heard Kristen Stewart got the part, I was like, ‘Totally get that.’ She did a phenomenal job. I watched a lot of Joan’s YouTube videos to get in the mindset of the part. She’s such a great role model for young girls that I didn’t want to screw anything up. I’m so happy Kristen got that part. (…) It was flawless. Everyone — Dakota Fanning and Kristen, did a fantastic job. There isn’t anyone who I’d recast.”

Whether you like Kristen or not, you have to admit she and Dakota looked pretty awesome in the movie and delivered a very realistic portrait of the 70s all-girls teenage rock band, The Runaways.

Who’s going to The Runaways opening weekend March 19th?

Actor Taylor Lautner graced the red carpet with his breathtaking presence (ok, I’m exaggerating… a bit!) at premiere of the movie “The Runaways” held at Cinerama Dome Arclight Theaters in Los Angeles on Thursday (March 11).

The Twilight hunk was there to show his support to the girls. SWEET! Taylor opted for a casual look – jeans, shirt and leather jacket! Pure hotness!! Anyway we still love to see him in an elegant suit but this look is hotter… don’t you girls think?
