Taylor Swift Takes BMI’s Country Music Songwriter Of The Year
Written by Violet on November 10, 2010 – 1:14 pm -Taylor Swift is making history this month. The 20 year-old music superstar broke three Billboard records last week by having 11 of her songs on the chart at once, the most songs written by one artist charting in the same week and all those songs are off one album.
On Tuesday November 9th, Swift, who has had some intense ups and downs this week, holds yet another title: BMI’s Country Songwriter of the Year - the youngest person ever awarded that honor.
Swift became the youngest recipient of the prize, telling the crowd, “It’s been a really emotional week for me.” And while this week has been filled with highs, it has also had its share of lows as she attended the funeral of a friend on Monday. She added, “He was 21, and I used to play my songs for him first.”
Congratulations on the record-winning weeks, Taylor. It’s unfortunate it was at the same time she was dealing with losing someone so close to her.
Tonight she will perform at the CMA’s (Country Music Awards) and perhaps pick up another trophy as she is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. It is rumored she will sing “Back To December,” the emotionaly song reportedly written about Taylor Lautner.

‘Zombieland’ Grabs Box Office Top Spot
Written by Violet on October 4, 2009 – 9:45 pm -Jesse Eisenberg may be uncomfortable watching himself on screen, but lots of other people aren’t. His latest movie Zombieland, costarring Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin, just took the weekend box office number one spot bringing in $25 million on opening weekend. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs came in second (again!) and the double shot of Pixar Toy Story & Toy Story 2 took third in 3-D. Ellen Page’s latest – the roller derby coming-of-age Whip It! was a disappointing seventh place.
