Chloe Moretz Disturbing New Role In ‘Hick’
Written by Violet on November 29, 2010 – 3:47 pm -Chloe Moretz attended the 2010 Children’s BAFTA Awards in London on Sunday November 28th. The young actress wore the Chanel dress that Jessica Alba was featured in for one of her two covers on Elle magazine for December 2010. (See all the photos below.)
Moretz has been cast in the film Hick (based on the novel from Andrea Portes) and today she gained a costar: Kirsten Dunst. The story is about 13 year old abandoned by her folks who makes her way to Las Vegas and is taken in by Dunst’s con-artist Glenda.
Moretz’s character Luli is raped in the book (and it is likely to happen in the film as well.) How graphic it will be on screen remains to be seen and this is not new for a young girl to portray a victim of rape. In 2007 Dakota Fanning’s parents and filmmakers received sharp criticism for allowing her to take on Hounddog, where Fanning’s on screen character was also victim of a sexual assault.
Fanning appears well-adjusted and downright happy today which makes it seem as though if enough care is taken, the actress can be young and not leave the film damaged but is it worth the risk? Many actor regardless of their age will say how a character – especially an emotionally scarred one – will live with them long after the movie shoot; the psychic “dust” still clings to them.
So what do you think? Is this a disturbing trend – not just this but the number of assassins and killers that teenage girls are being cast as? Is it ok as long as the actress is well-taken care of emotionally? Will you see this movie?

Bieber Fever Hits CSI
Written by Violet on July 23, 2010 – 8:28 am -Justin Bieber will hit the CBS airwaves this year for the season premiere of CSI. The Canadian pop star is taking his upcoming gig seriously (he working with an acting coach) to be able to deliver the emotional punch the storyline deserves. Here is the synopsis of his role:
The Biebs is slated to play Jason McCann, described in a CBS release as “a troubled teen who is faced with a terrible decision regarding his only brother—a decision that leads him into an explosive confrontation with the CSIs. It is the beginning of an emotional story that will conclude later in the season.”
Now do I read that correctly – “conclude later in the season” – so JBie will appear in the series twice? Ok then Justin – get studying!

Justin Bieber Snags Seventeen Cover
Written by Violet on June 6, 2010 – 8:31 pm -Staring back at you from the cover of Seventeen magazine is super teen sensation Justin Bieber. The Bieber-tastic issue is filled with all sorts of Justin goodness:
On what he’s really thinking about on stage: “I’m always thinking of the fans and wanting to show them a little love and support.”
On the most exciting thing that’s happened this year: “I performed for President Obama. That was amazing. I really liked that.”
On advice for a first date: “A bad first date would be to go to the movies. You can’t talk to the girl and get to know her. But it is good to go to dinner. That way you do get to talk to her.”
Check out a behind the scenes vid of the photo shoot below.

Justin Bieber Covers Girlfriend Magazine
Written by Violet on May 30, 2010 – 9:24 pm -The New Zealand magazine Girlfriend has Justin Bieber sitting pretty on the cover of it’s June issue.
Justin, who was recently in Australia, caused a bit of a stir when he made an appearance on the show “Sunrise” and told a show supervisor (who was trying to show Bieber where to stand,) “Don’t ever f’ing touch me again.” For his part, JB denies this happened and responded on his Twitter:
“Family time with my mom couldn’t come at a better time….I was raised to respect others and not gossip…nor answer gossip with anger. I know my friends family and fans know the person I am. Hearing adults spread lies and rumors is part of the job I guess.”
Check out the “Sunrise” performance below and tell us – do you think Justin really did that? Or is it just a conspiracy against beloved Bieber…

Justin Bieber ‘New Year’s Eve’ Movie Debut?
Written by Violet on May 20, 2010 – 9:00 pm -Valentine’s Day had the teen dream team pairing of Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift (Taylor Squared!) and now the movie’s sequel, New Year’s Eve, might just catch Bieber fever. That’s right girls, Justin Bieber’s name is being bandied about to make his movie debut in the upcoming rom-com with loads of stars. Director Garry Marshall is pretty clueless as to who this Bieber kid is:
“Already, they’re mentioning Justin Bieber,” he said about who will be cast. “I have no idea who that is, but I’m sure we’ll meet.”
Shooting will start in September, so someone should download a couple of songs for Marshall or you know, get the man an internet connection.

Victoria Justice & Bridgit Mendler Are ‘The Next Big Thing’
Written by Violet on April 18, 2010 – 2:11 am -Victoria Justice and Bridgit Mendler are ready to break into the big time with their own shows. The two seventeen year old actresses have been working steadily for quite some time and are now poised to capture that elusive teen/tween stardom thanks to Disney and Nickelodeon.
There seems to be a wealth of TV tween stars at the moment, raising the question is there room for two more. The Jonas Brothers have their own eponymous show, Miranda Cosgrove has become nearly a household name on “iCarly” and so has Selena Gomez on “Wizards of Waverly Place,” their images plastered all over TV, on lunch boxes, backpacks, even the sides of buses.
Mendler’s show, Good Luck Charlie premiered recently on Disney to strong ratings and Justice’s show for Nickelodeon, Victorious, also did very well in it’s initial airing. So what do you think about these two up and coming stars? Do you like them and their shows?

Top 10 Teen TV Shows Of 2009
Written by Violet on December 31, 2009 – 5:12 pm -The end of 2009 is here today so let’s take a look back at the best TV shows aimed at and about teenagers. Some are more realistic than others and some are just downright guilty pleasures, but here are the Top 10 of 2009.
10. Gossip Girl - CW
Based on the books by Cecily von Ziegesar, the series about spoiled NYC teens on the Upper East Side was launched in 2007 and has been a favorite ever since. While ratings have slipped this year, it is still talked about. The cast (Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen, Jessica Szohr, Ed Westwick, Penn Badgley) is super hot and garners lots of press. Hopefully the storylines will pick up and get it back on track.

9. Make It Or Break It – ABC Family
Chelsea Hobbs, Josie Loren, Ayla Kell and Cassie Scerbo are the gymnastic Olympic hopefuls at “The Rock” in Boulder Colorado, training for their shot at the big time. ABC Family’s hit show (scoring their second best premiere) gives athletic teen girls a chance to see and strive for something more than boys and clothes.

8. True Jackson, VP - Nickelodeon
Keke Palmer is terrific as the Vice President of a teen clothing line and her navigation in the world of business and all the normal drama that comes from being a teenager. Palmer is funny, charming and talented. Her costars Ashley Argota and Matt Shively play off her well and the premiere set lots of ratings records for the network.

‘Princess Protection Program’ Pummels Posers
Written by Violet on June 27, 2009 – 10:50 pm -
The incredible BFF duo of Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez rule Disney and all other shows this past Saturday night. Ratings for ‘Princess Protection Program’ were fantastic and the movie won the audience by a 2 to 1 margin over CBS (who was waaay behind in second place.) It was the highest rated show so far this year for Kids ages 6-11 and Tween ages 9-14. It is the Disney channel’s third highest rated show of all time – behind only ‘Camp Rock’ and ‘High School Musical 2.’ Pretty impressive!
Who watched it and how did you like it? Will you buy it on DVD (June 30th) when it comes out?
