Emma Watson On Life After ‘Harry Potter’
Written by Violet on June 14, 2011 – 8:57 pm -A glamorous look from Emma Watson gets your attention on the cover of the July issue of Vogue.
The 21 year-old actress reveals her struggle with balancing all of her projects and education, her love of the artistic life, costar Daniel Radcliffe, how James Franco helped her figure things out and how she wants control after Harry Potter:
On the Harry Potter ‘bubble’ and Breaking Free: “I have had no control over my life … I have lived in a complete bubble. They found me and picked me for the part. And now I’m desperately trying to find my way through it.”
On Inspiration from Patti Smith: “I want to live like Patti. I want to write like Patti … The book [her 2010 memoir Just Kids] was so honest and brave. I loved the way she sees the world. I really felt that life was more beautiful after I read it, and I felt more hopeful.”
On Daniel Radcliffe: “He understood what his role was … not just as an actor but as the leading man in this enormous franchise. And I think that was almost more important in a way. He held it all together. I am very grateful for him.”
On Getting A Helping Hand From James Franco: “It was such a relief to speak to someone who is trying to do the same thing I’m doing. I talked to him about juggling studying and making films and going backward and forward. He’s not afraid or limited by what he fears people will say about it.”

Emma Watson Postponing College Studies Temporarily
Written by Violet on March 7, 2011 – 9:53 pm -Emma Watson is taking a temporary time out from her college studies.
The 20 year-old actress and student has decided she’s trying to juggle to many projects while attending classes and needed to focus on one or the other. For now her movie making obligations win.
Watson posted this message on her website:
Hi everyone
As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible.
I’ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on Harry Potter (the last one comes out this summer) and to focus on my other professional and acting projects. I will still be working towards my degree… it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought : )
Hope you are all well! Thank you for all your continuing support.
Emma xx
Emma’s got a lot going on with Harry Potter promotional duties, her role in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, maybe starring in Incarceron with Taylor Lautner, more eco-conscious clothing with Alberta Ferretti – that’s a lot of responsibilities besides studying!
I’m sure she thought this over long and hard and made the best choice she could for herself.

Emma Watson People Tree Pose
Written by Violet on January 30, 2011 – 6:36 pm -Emma Watson strikes a sexy pose against an old motorcycle and amongst the green forest backdrop in the Spring/Summer teaser photo for People Tree’s latest collection.
Watson has been designing with the socially conscious company for a few years now and the Fair Trade label is something that Emma was looking for when she made the decision to endorse and work with the company:
“Fashion is a great way to empower people and give them skills; rather than give cash to charity you can help people by buying the clothes they make and supporting things they take pride in,” said Watson. “I think young people like me are becoming increasingly aware of the humanitarian issues surrounding fast fashion and want to make good choices but there aren’t many options out there.”
The full collection goes on sale February 28th.

Emma Watson Creates A Stir For NYC ‘Harry Potter’ Premiere
Written by Violet on November 16, 2010 – 10:01 am -Head-turning Emma Watson appeared in New York City for the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 premiere on November 16th. The Hermoine Granger actress is still amazed that her decision to chop off her long locks would cause such a commotion:
“I knew it would be kind of a shock, but I had no idea that it would be that big. Like everyone would make this much fuss over it,” Watson, who chopped her golden locks in August, told USA TODAY’s Andrea Mandell at the New York premiere.
Emma wears this hair style well – look how fabulous and effortless she looks in her sleek Calvin Klein dress! I think it’s hard for people to see little Hermoine growing up and that has a lot to do with how much people are focusing on her hair. This is a decidedly mature move for her.
Lots more Emma loveliness under. Read more »

Emma Watson ‘I’m Ready To Take More Risks’
Written by Violet on November 7, 2010 – 11:39 pm -Pink, perky and pixie Emma Watson is featured on the cover of Russia’s Elle Girl for November 2010. This cover is a nice contrast to the two wintery white ones for Vogue UK (see that cover here) and Marie Claire (and this one here.)
Watson is ready to step out of her comfort zone and put more of herself on the line. The Harry Potter actress recently said:
“Three months ago I cut my hair and at that moment I felt I became a woman,” she said.
“At the moment I’m just happy to be single. I want to live life to the full. But I’m more grown up and confident now. I’m ready to take more risks. I feel less girlish than ever.”
She also says she is happy at Brown University in Rhode Island and isn’t as recognized in the US as she is in the England but does miss Britain.
Lots more Emma (and Dan, Rupert, Tom, Evanna, Bonnie etc…) as everyone does more and more press for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 opening: November 19th.

Emma Watson Shines In Holiday Stardust Vogue UK Cover
Written by Violet on November 1, 2010 – 9:43 am -Dazzling in white and one of the many magazine covers to come featuring the Harry Potter gang as they hit the publicity trail for the two final epic films, Emma Watson is radiant for Vogue UK’s December 2010 issue. Famed photographer Mario Testino is behind the lens to capture Emma’s graceful beauty for the holiday edition of the fashion bible.
The actress tells the mag she is “boring” and that she really didn’t understand how weathly she was until recently:
She was 17 or 18 when her father sat her down for the “money conversation”. Until then she had been living on an allowance of just £50 a week. “By the third or fourth film, the money was starting to get serious,” she said. “I had no idea. I felt sick, very emotional.”
Watson also refuses to read the net and tabloids and the negative nonsense it can bring to a person’s life:
“There’s tons that’s not very nice and I’m very, very self critical, so it was like a drug for me,” she said.
Emma continues to live her life in two distinct halves: one as a regular student on the Brown University campus in Rhode Island and the other as the fabulous movie star that jet sets between film premieres, talk shows and magazine photo shoots. She is grounded and stable and comes across as a thoughtful young woman who is making great choices for her future.
Emma is about to start work on My Week With Marilyn, costarring with Kenneth Branagh and Michelle Williams. Watson was thought to have been a part of The Perks of Being a Wallflower, with Logan Lerman however the actress seems to have dropped out of or never finalized a deal to star in that film.

Emma Watson Visits Bangladesh Garment Factory
Written by Violet on August 27, 2010 – 7:31 am -Celebrity driven fashion collections come and go but Emma Watson is trying to make a lasting difference by lending her name to her collaboration line produced by People Tree. The Harry Potter actress is committed to spreading the word about how fashion is made and how we can have a positive impact on people’s lives when choosing our clothing purchases. Emma recently visited Swallows – the Fair-Trade garment community that People Tree works with in Bangladesh and was amazed by what she saw. Watson said:
“I cannot imagine how I would have the mental ability and strength to go into the garment factory slums everyday and have my children living six hundred miles away. We interviewed a woman in the slum in Dhaka. She was very candid about the fact that there just wasn’t any hope for her. There is no hope for anyone living in those conditions and being paid that kind of wage. Coming to Swallows, I see there is an alternative. The living conditions are modest but it’s clean and there is a real sense of community, there families are together and they seem to love and be proud of what they are doing – many things that we in the West take for granted. Swallows is special and I need to believe for my own piece of mind that there will be more places like this in the developing countries in the world.”
The fashion industry has long used terrible working conditions as a means to produce cheap fashion for us in the West. People Tree is working to make a difference and I applaud Watson for choosing so carefully in partnering with People Tree.

Emma Watson Goes Pixie – New Short Haircut!
Written by Violet on August 6, 2010 – 5:41 am -The always beautiful Emma Watson is showing off her new look – a super short pixie cut – and Emma looks transformed. The Harry Potter actress posted this picture on her Facebook page and said:
“Dear all. Cut my hair off a few days ago… Feels incredible. I love it. I’ve wanted to do this for years and years; it’s the most liberating thing ever. Hope you like. Big love from Emma x.”
Emma’s new look is chic, fashionable and very striking. Many actresses have taken the scissors to their once famous head of hair and adopted this pixie cut – from Mia Farrow in the 60s to Winona Ryder, Halle Berry and Natalie Portman more recently. There is nothing like a brand new haircut to start a new chapter in a person’s life!
What do you think of Emma’s new look?

Emma Watson Dolly Australia Cover
Written by Violet on July 28, 2010 – 7:55 pm -The amazing Emma Watson is on the cover of Australia’s Dolly magazine for August 2010. The Harry Potter actress article is unfortunately, just rehashed existing interviews (go here to see the scans.)
Emma seems to have settled in nicely to her studies at Brown University and is keeping a low profile other than an event here or there. Good for her. She appears to have carved out a normal slice of student life for herself which is what she wanted.
