This is Vanessa Hudgens big year! The 22 year-old actress is really trying hard to make a successful transition from Disney star to an “adult” actress with two new movies, “Beastly” and “Sucker Punch”.

Vanessa recently broke up with her High School Musical boyfriend, Zac Efron, and I’ve got a feeling she will have the opportunity to try some new things. Vanessa is probably a better actress than singer, so she is on the right path.

In an interview for Cineplex Magazine, Vanessa claims “Sucker Punch” is like six movies in one and she loved the experience. As for “Beastly”, the actress finally understood the deeper message behind the modern version of “Beauty & The Beast”.

Here are some highlights from Vanessa Hudgens’ Cineplex interview:

On putting “Sucker Punch” into words: “It’s really interesting and extremely hard to put into words. But it’s basically six movies all put together in one and with different settings, and it takes place in the fifties and it’s super kick-ass. It’s classy, it’s empowering and it’s very moving.”

On Blondie: “She’s kind of a follower in the real world but once we go into the fight sequences she turns into an extreme badass.”

On her thoughts of Beastly: “I did [think it was just a Disney story], until I really looked into it. And it fascinates me that people still have not caught onto [the message]…Now more than ever kids are extremely fascinated with the Hollywood glamour and it’s not how it is, but that’s all that you see.”

Actress Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer’s much anticipated movie got a new opening date – “Beastly” hits theaters a couple of weeks earlier on Friday, March 4, 2011 (watch new movie trailer HERE).

I seriously cannot wait to watch the so-called modern version of “The Beauty and The Beast”. Alex is an amazing talented actor with another movie titled “I Am Number Four” coming out on February 18th (teaser trailer HERE). And Vanessa’s “Sucker Punch” premieres on March 25th (movie trailer HERE).

Olsen Twin, Mary-Kate Olsen plays an evil witch who transforms him into a monster. What can save him? True unconditional love. So Beautiful. Inspiring. We cannot wait to see this movie, but unfortunately “Beastly” only hits theaters next year on March 18, 2011.

Actress Vanessa Hudgens reportedly refused a chance to join Sarah Michelle Gellar in a big screen remake of “Buffy, The Vampire Slayer”. Why? The former High School Musical star is smart enough to know there’s only space for one successful vampire series on the big screen right now – AND that is Twilight!

“She felt that with Twilight still so massive Buffy would not be the best option right now,” says one source. “The idea was to have Sarah back but with Vanessa as a fresh, new character. The project has been shelved for now.”

Vanessa may not be the best actress in the world, but I think she has been making the right decisions when it comes to what she wants to do with her career. Her new movie “Beastly”, a modern day “Beauty and the Beast” story, which was set to be released on July 30 was pushed forward and will hit theaters only on March 18, 2011.

High School Musical star Zac Efron will star in a movie of personal discovery, grief and romance based on Ben Sherwood’s novel “The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud” (movie trailer below).

Zac Efron’s “Charlie St. Cloud” Plot Summary (via IMDb):

Charlie St. Cloud is a young man overcome by grief at the death of his younger brother. So much so that he takes a job as caretaker of the cemetery in which his brother is buried. Charlie has a special lasting bond with his brother though, as he can see him. Charlie meets up with his brother (Sam) each night to play catch and talk. Then, a girl comes into Charlie’s life and he must choose between keeping a promise he made to Sam, or going after the girl he loves.

The movie will hit theaters exactly on the same day “Beastly”, Zac’s girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens’ new movie, comes on – July 30. Who will win the box office battle?

Actor Zac Efron and his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens will be forced to go face-to-face in a Box Office battle as their latest movies, “The Death and Life Of Charlie St. Cloud” and “Beastly” (watch trailer here), respectively, are both set to be released on July 30, 2010.

Oh! Drama! Zac’s movie was originally scheduled to come out in October, but apparently Universal had an empty “slot” in the middle of the blockbuster season and BOOM! Boyfriend/girlfriend box office controversy! Who will win the battle? Are you Team Vanessa or Team Zac?

Actress Vanessa Hudgens stars in the much-anticipated “Beastly”, a modern version of the classic “Beauty and The Beast” based on the book with the same title by Alex Flinn. The 21 year-old actress claims the movie was both an acting and life learning experience. Her fabulous and super hot co-star Alex Pettyfer also helped a lot!

Vanessa said, “I learned a lot. I learned a lot about myself, about the way I act, a lot of how I can improve myself.

“One thing me and Daniel did was jump all over the place. We’d be on the same scene but it would almost be like a comedy show because he’d yell something out, like ‘angry’ and I’d do the lines angry. He’d yell ‘happy’, I’d do the lines happy, jumping from one place emotionally to another.

“It was an exercise and was a lot of fun. The best acting class you’ll ever get is actual work. It was fun.”

The movie is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2010. Neil Patrick Harris will plays the blind tutor and Mary-Kate Olsen will shine in the role of Kendra, the witch who turns Kyle into “the beast” (promo photos below).
