Kristen Stewart appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly this morning (October 19th) to promote her non-Twilight film, Welcome to The Rileys. The actress plays a stripper and there has been a lot of chatter about her possible pole dancing in the film (you won’t see it in the film, but she did take lessons for two weeks in prepping for the role.) The 20 year-old thespian told Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa that while she had fun learning how to, the physical results weren’t all that great:

“It hurts alot, actually. I had bruises all over my legs.”

She also mentions that she heads to New Orleans in November for the start of the Breaking Dawn shoot.

Kristen Stewart’s role as the young stripper Mallory in Welcome to the Riley’s will see the actress take on one of her most challenging parts to date. The actress portrays the teenage runaway who helps to bring an emotionally empty married couple (James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo) out of their grief and back to living again.

The stills released by the studio show Stewart as a vulnerable, hollow young woman who looks worn and angry at the world. The photos really give a sense of sadness for all three characters in the film.

Kristen Stewart is a teen prostitute in the fall movie Welcome To The Rileys and this new picture shows a defiant Stewart with costar Melissa Leo looking in on her. The film played at the Sundance Festival this past winter and has been raved about by those who’ve seen it already.

Stewart is Mallory, the girl who The Riley’s (James Gandolfini and Leo) try to help as way to deal with the loss of their own daughter and repair their broken relationship. Check out the movie trailer here.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has nominated Kristen Stewart for it’s Rising Star Award. Carey Mulligan (currently costarring with previous winner Shia LaBeouf in Wall Street 2) and Stewart’s costar from Adventureland, Jesse Eisenberg are also some of the nominees. The awards will be given out in London on February 21st.

Actress Kristen Stewart plays a stripper, probably the most challenging role of her successful career, in the new movie “Welcome To The Rileys”, which is directed by Soprano’s star James Gandolfini.

Welcome to the Rileys, a film that centers around Mallory (Stewart), a troubled teenager who becomes a stripper. On a business trip to New Orleans, a damaged man, played by James Gandolfini, meets her. Later, he and his wife, portrayed by Melissa Leo, try to help Mallory. The young woman, in return, unites the grieving couple who has drifted apart after the death of their daughter.

This new role can give Kristen a chance to mature as an actress and also, in some way, distance herself from the Twilight phenomenon because it will eventually end some day. We believe Kristen is a talented young actress who will have a fantastic career in the business even after the Twilight Saga.
