Mockingjay Is Out Today!
Written by Violet on August 23, 2010 – 10:36 pm -The final book in The Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay, hits bookstores today, August 24th! Finally!
Author Suzanne Collins post-apocalyptic world filled with the fight-to-the-death battles forced upon the chosen teens every year is the most anticipated book this summer.
Rebellion, dissension, independence, political intrigue and big-brother-is-watching themes filled The Hunger Games and it’s second book, Catching Fire, with tension and suspense. Mockingjay will bring it all to a conclusion.
But don’t despair, it’s not really over – Collins will be adapting The Hunger Games for the big screen as Lionsgate Films is planning the movie to be epic.
Who’s buying Mockingjay today? How much do you love this series? So awesome! Who do you think should play Katniss (I think Saoirse Ronan or Malese Jow - yes I know Malese is a bit older but still – she’d be great!) and Peeta in the movie?

Hilary Duff Writing Teen Novels
Written by Violet on March 10, 2010 – 7:34 pm -Hilary Duff, best known as the squeaky clean Disney teen Lizzie McGuire, is branching out – into teen writing. The actress is set to pen a series of young adult novels, starting with Elixir; due in October of 2010. The novels have photojournalist Clea Raymond as the heroine who uncovers mystery, danger and romance while globe trotting.
Says Duff, “I’ve always loved the escape of a great book, especially one that features a strong, inspiring female character you feel you really understand, someone who could be you, but living a more fascinating life. I’m hoping Elixir will be that kind of book-a novel that will transport readers and open new worlds for them.”
Duff is working on a non-fiction tome too. Stories from children of divorced parents and the obstacles they overcome will be the focus of her other work, to be published in 2012.

Stephanie Meyer’s ‘The Host’ Getting A Script
Written by Violet on September 23, 2009 – 4:13 pm -Famous for her Twilight series of novels that are now movie phenomenons, author Stephanie Meyer will have her other book tuned into a movie as well. Three producers have purchased the screen rights to her novel, The Host and Andrew Niccol is attached to direct and write the screenplay. For those who don’t know the basic plot of her non-Twilight book here is a summary:
Meyer’s novel is a love story set in the near future on Earth, which has been assimilated by an alien species of benevolent parasites that call themselves “Souls.” One such soul, the Wanderer, is fused with a dying human named Melanie Stryder, in an attempt to locate the last pocket of surviving humans on Earth.
Obviously still in it’s early stages, no casting or release date is ready yet.
